Because it is, essentially, meant for musicians.
And not just any musicians, but ones who appreciate the kind of polished jazz-funk that Cory & Co. play. If you aren't interested in music as a craft, and in instrumental skill as central to that, it'll have very limited appeal for you. Even then, if you're, say, a country guitarist or classical oboist or heavy metal drummer, it may not float your boat. Personally, I'm not too crazy about it - the music strikes me as conceptually easy, although requiring great ability to perform well; and Cory is a much better musician than comedian.

When Nate was talking about dynamics in jazz and how drummers help other musicians build their solo, the first thing that came to mind was Cory Henry's Solo in Lingus, how Larnell Lewis really builds it with dynamicly going harder over time.

Pro drummer here....I have never seen such love and such deeeep understanding for drums by a guy like Cory. I'm absolutely floored by the talent this man has. He is so unbelievably creative and multi-talented. Could he be a film maker? My guess is YES. Is he a monster on guitar? Yes. Bass? Yes. Is he a master bandleader? Yes. Producer? Yes. Engineer? Yes. Song writer? Yes. Comedian? Yes. Philosopher? Yes. Yes yes yes...This guy is so freaking talented. I honestly don't know what he will do next but whatever the next level to his career is, he is ready. I want him to have massive success. I want him to have whatever his dreams are, to be realized. I am just so grateful that he is alive and healthy and will be around for a while. It seems like these guys who are this super talented always have some demons that end up cutting their careers and sometimes lives short and I feel truly blessed that he will be here making music for a long time!!

Oh, man, I like the tune at 7:45 - cool progression, cool brass orchestration. Cory quite successfully channels Walter Becker on rhythm and Jon Herington on lead. All it needs, over the top, is a sour-toned, incredibly nasal, New York-accented voice singing sardonic, cynical Beat Poetry about one or another pseudo-hip, contemptible, but pathetic big-city losers.

Careful not to upset Big Spotify, who knows what they'll make the algorithm do to you 😱
Also I loved Nate Smith in Cosmic Sans! He's such a great drummer

Looks like a wicked tasty glass of piss, LOL. On a serious note, wouldn't it be wonderful if it became standard practice for music teachers and educators to show Cory's videos??!
Nate and Cory's conversation about feel was some pure gold - Particularly as a drummer and bassist!

Really fascinating to hear the word 'gears' used in this context - it's a concept that i've encountered in discussion of modern cuban music before with a slightly different meaning (Look up Beyond Salsa percussion)

I wish my musical IQ was higher. I am absolutely certain there are puns / humor in some of the comedy sketches that goes over my head. Even so, I love not only the musical talent, but the also the humor and points made with the humor. The level of creativity is mind blowing... Thank you Cory and and Wongnotes!! See you all live in March '23

Hi to The other drummers watching this, if you want a really good Way of thinking about Groove, and also how to get better at it (not just that, if you dont have it then its too bad, because that is not true) then check out Benny Grebs clinic clips on RUclips as Well as his own Channel. He’s also made i Think three teaching pieces, one on Groove in video format, one on practicing in book format which btw is for everyone, not just drummers, and a rhythmic vocabolary piece. And as great as he is at drums, just as good is he at explaining Music. He’s peobably the only Reading why still feel motivated for Music, and feel like im progressing in the best Way possible.
    Much love Benny

I've hated recorded cymbals since we started compressing music digitally. I thought the link was causal but now I wonder if it's only on songs with vocals....

Some wonder why this guy hasn't got more subscribers? Because he doesn't come across as authentic. He behaves like an actor not like a musician. It's all a spectacle! You can guess that this video was choreographed and rehearsed until it fits 100% with all these movie props. A musician, however, goes on stage and everything has to be correct. There are no repetitions on stage. We are musicians, no actors!

OK so in the discussion with Nate. I really would have liked to hear what the take is on drummers like Richie Hayward and Dave Garibaldi. Sure Garibaldi has the ton of discipline to play backbeat but Richie figured out how to keep the discipline part behind the curtain. ruclips.net/video/H29UNZCYQbg/видео.html
