I loved hearing Chromeo talk about how they started leaving more slop in their recent recordings- I picked up on that but wasn't sure if it was intentional, it makes it sound more alive, and I think it's a big part of why Head Over Heels is my favorite album. Quarantine Casanova has that same raw feel, too.
The interstitial bits of different band members just playing something wild or fun against a saturate color background really, really brings the flow of this show together imo. Season 2 is shaping up to be legit!!
That was AWESOME... The conversation with Chromeo in the second half was a treat. Thank you so much Cory for putting the time and energy doing this. Oh, the song is SLAMIN!
A Christian, a Jew, and an Arab walk into a bar...;) On all seriousness, great interview Cory - glad to see you stand firm in your faith and keep up these interviews and funk!
OLD GUY POST: Man, i would have killed for this sort of info when I was just starting out. So many gems of good advice on workflow in here it's insane.
This is fantastic. Not just a banger track, ITS ALSO a banger video, AND ALSO an exciting collaboration. So glad this exists, this is exactly what I want to consume
My hat is on the floor and full of cash. I can't tip it any harder. Cory you're fluffin insane! A monster, an unstoppable force, a saint, an inspiration! I once followed you around for 3 nights in a row of shows. Every night was different! Different songs, different members, different stage gags. Everytime I take a lookaway you have a new album. You're working with everyone and showing us the whole journey! This is peak performance ladies and gentlemen.
Fantastic interview with Chromeo - lots of mutual respect going down. I wanted more of you discussing learning all of Earth Wind and Fire’s tunes - Cory. You really are turning into the music industry’s hardest working artist. 153k of us love what you do.
i initially baulked at the full length of the interview segment just by looking at the time stamps but it was just so much fun listening to the full discussion, i barely realized the video had come to an end. this is a great episode, and cory does such a great job as an interviewer, as are chromeo as interviewees!
I love this interview, it resonates with so many of my internal freqs. Really, this level of modesty, it humbles to see how cool these guys are, thanks for making this interview along with the song (which kills, BTW). High praise for the 3 of you, and chromeo I'm forever encandilado by them
Man, Cory, you're just consistently one step ahead of my constant need for new music from you. The collaborations, the groove, the comedy... It's all there man. I have no idea how making all this incredible art is even financially feasible, but damn it, I hope you're doing this for years. On top of that, your live shows have been some of the best I've seen in recent memory. This truly is the golden age of Wong.
I have seen Chromeo live 4 times, I love them, for both you (Cory) one of my guitar heroes, and them to work together is just magic. thanks for the content. Amazing as always.
Never stop talking about Prince, such a pleasure to hear your thoughts on his wacky side! It's not the way Prince is discussed generally, I love that there was no mention of him being an underrated guitarist or of his While My Guitar Gently Sleeps performance for once! Also I wanna hear your "what was he thinking?" discussions about those unknown records you speak of, I feel like this would be so nice to hear you discover this! But at the same time, it's best to let it happen naturally, recording everything we do is smthg we do nowadays but it's nice to have our own private discussion sessions and those must be dear to you! (however don't hesitate if you have some memories of discussion assigned to certain songs, would love to hear them!)
Sorry guys, I didn’t know these Chromeo, so smart and genuine, love them. I go and listen to them. Thanks Cory. Should I quit my life and dive 100% into music ? Following you push me there ! Thanks you all 🙏
Hold on! The Who, Joe Walsh and of course Peter Frampton were using the Talk Box before Troutman! Amazing interview though!! Chromeo is one of my favorites, and I've always loved that they shout out Minneapolis!
Respect from one musician to another. To put together an album and not just have the main artist in the title, and to release a feature presenting some of the many people behind getting an album out is great insight.
As per usual I love it all, and the music is SO groovy. Wanted to shout out Cory's green and white striped sweater while playing with Chromeo in the studio--I like the integration of both horizontal AND vertical stripes!
Loved the interview. I’ve been listening to Chromeo for so many years but never watched an interview with them. It was so interesting to get some background story to everything, their relationship to funk music and how they didn’t grow up with it but found it by themselves in their teens, how they produce the music etc. I know NOTHING about music other than that I love to listen to it, haha. Thanks for this episode!💫
This should be mandatory watching for all of these "copyright" cases going round... Also just like everyone else I have to say this is solid, impressively multi-faceted, extremely well produced content - loving it!! 🔥👏
This is great! I love how good musical artists are very aware of the fact that they are creating for a community of listeners, and that they are somehow part of the passion and fascination of that community. There is, simultaneously, a keen sense of being true to your own unique creative voice, while also respecting that you are giving a gift to others, whose sensibilities you do have a regard for. (I am contrasting this in my mind with some of the strange corners of the visual arts, where there can sometimes seem to be no respect or awareness of an audience or a community of viewers, but rather, merely a lone creator, in an isolated universe, looking at himself in a mirror, the rest of reality be damned.)
something really tickles me about avalon penrose (aka meg from HADES) playing a funky dorito. that's one deep-cut crossover i wasn't expecting today, but a welcome one! what a freakin' fun episode to wake up to (this also means cory's just one degree of separation away from supergiant games - maybe that dream of doing video game music isn't far off after all)
MORE THAN ONE HOUR??? You must be crazy. The amount of work done is INSANE! Let's also give the behind-the-scenes people some recognition!
Great point. All of these folks did a highly professional job
How is this for free on RUclips? This would feel right at home on IFC. The production value is amazing
What is IFC? Edit: a cable TV channel in the US
@@yesto9676 First rule of Instrumental Fight Club is don't talk about Instrumental Fight Club.

I can't get over how good the horn section is. I could watch them record parts all day!
Oh man Chromeo is such a fun band. You guys need to make an album together, please!
The interstitial bits of different band members just playing something wild or fun against a saturate color background really, really brings the flow of this show together imo. Season 2 is shaping up to be legit!!
exactly!
Really enjoyed the articulation and passion from Chromeo. Their wheelhouse is huge!
Damn man, the production is THROUGH THE ROOF! FIRE!
That was AWESOME... The conversation with Chromeo in the second half was a treat. Thank you so much Cory for putting the time and energy doing this. Oh, the song is SLAMIN!
Cory has become my favorite all around artist. Music is fire, his show is awesome… content master.
You are a very good actor, Cory!
I second this. The picky sketches were intense lol
Hearing Cory and Chromeo just chat it up for 40 minutes is therapy; it has eased up a bunch of my creative anxieties.
A Christian, a Jew, and an Arab walk into a bar...;)
On all seriousness, great interview Cory - glad to see you stand firm in your faith and keep up these interviews and funk!

This is the best channel on RUclips. Such an awesome video. I was lucky enough to do a few sessions in their studio and it was just too cool.

Love these extended interview segments!
best thing on the internet right now. no cap
Man, that hour went by fast. Thanks so much for this. Fills the ''I wish I was a fly on the wall'' urges.

“Jay Webb go into the Stratocaster”… we knew he meant stratosphere but that’s what happens when you spend so much time playing a Strat

Wow Big Wild and then Chromeo? Glad I recognize some of the artist from this album.
Ahhh, you work with Rob Harris 🤩. My two favorite guitar players! Rob has an excellent RUclips channel too.
Awww thank you Louis
To find your own niche is the hardest. These are groundbreaking Cory congratulations
Really loving these extra long episodes with in-depth extended interviews. Feels like a real step up from Season 1.

Cool reference to Bob James... these guys for sure have a wide background to synthesize from!
This show is NEXT LEVEL in Season 2! Also the way David and Patrick listen to and respect each other is astounding. True musical soulmates
As a producer and general fan of music I wish all of the artists I like would make videos like this.
