I remember going there out of the cathedral midnight mass Christmas Eve and into the Jolly Butchers , a lot of saucy songs loved her.so glad she is recorded not forgotten. It was shoulder to shoulder those were the days I live in Australia now such great memories
I used the Jolly Butchers almost every night during 1963 and 64. I was there when the announcement of Kennedys death came through. The silence was astounding. Anna was a great woman, Ada behind the bar was also great. Wonderful time. Peter Wilson
I tried to get in the building once or twice last year, but they wouldn't have any of it the estate agency or the care taker of the place. They never touched the cellar apparently. Her actual pub sign is now in a pub just off Earlham Road, forgot the name but it's there, preserved!
My Dad, Malcolm Turner is singing with Black Anna in this video. He is now 90 and still going strong.

What was she like? I moved to Norwich in 2019, abit late mind but I would've loved to have been around then.

fantastic an incredible atmosphere
My Mum & Dad went there sometimes with their friend, Billy Johnson (worked at Samuel's Jewellers) who was a close friend of Black Anna's.
Billy was a good friend of many in my group. Remembered with affection.
Yes, he was a lovely man, I remember him well...
Happy Days.
Bet she was even better in the 50s
