  • A small pub, crammed with people. The bar was small, difficult to get to; not much could have been sold. Beer and money passed hand-to-hand across the room. An intimate atmosphere that those who went would never forget. This recording, fortunately, captures a bit of it. Anna would stand on a beer crate, shouting 'shut up' at irregular intervals.. Clandestinely recorded on a battery cassette recorder. The banjo player is Mike Parle.

This is great, unfortunately I'm in my mid twenties and was not around to experience these days. I have always been drawn to the jolly Butchers Yard archway whenever I have passed it, it is a snapshot of the past smack bang in the middle of the modern world! I love it!

Great memories of good honest entertainment. Shame it is lost now. She could have made it big in the States! Glad she stayed though.
