Sadly the 2012 has the same problem but the shifter assembly is completely different. i got min all apart and the part your showing is not there. There is a little momentasry switch right at the top thats engaged when the shifter is in park. so im not sure other than cleaning that part what to do.
I have a 2011 Jeep GC Overland build date 4/11 my shift selector is not at all the same as yours! What is your build date? Do you know where the camera gets it signal from if the switch you show is not present?
My 2011 wk2 has a black screen and says "check your surroundings" when in reverse, but the parking sensors do work and beep just fine. Is my GC having the same issue? Do the parktronics etc run of a different switch/circuit than the camera?
I have two messages 1 on the gauge cluster saying "service parking assist system. And then on the radio screen says "check all surroundings". Who had that problem? And what was the fix?
I will make a video on this hopefully today but for recording purposes I wanted to know if your reverse camera is operating correctly or do you have a blank screen with the check all surrounding message?
FYI to others- this fix/switch did not exist/apply on my 2012 Grand Cherokee. I ended up replacing the backup camera itself, which appears to have solved my issue

This video will help you understand the process to remove the trunk cover: ruclips.net/video/CRl9js1p95U/видео.html However for our 2012 Grand Cherokee I did NOT need to remove the tail lights .. just four bolts, like in this video: ruclips.net/video/h0VyFWH0dzo/видео.html
This is a proven fix for me because at this point it's been over two years since I repaired it and I drive multiple times everyday so it's probably at least in Reverse six times a day for two years so I've probably been in Reverse at least four thousand times without any issues to date
Does this mean that the reverse lights also weren't turning on? Come to think of it, the shift indicator on the dash wouldn't have shown that it is in reverse either right? Or was only the camera affected?
so the proof you show at the begining is that its working, which is awesome but I want to see one thats not working fixed all you are doing is showing steps a person can take to fix it, thumbs down

I took it apart and lubed it, still no work does the sensor go bad in the shifter assembly? I also replaced the radio and still no camera, what next??

Now is this for just flickering screen because my screen is black and reads check entire surroundings is the issue im having. thanks

How did you decide it was not the camera and what your fix is the only likely fix please?
If this sensor fails you should have other problems right? Like reverse light and or back up sensors?
Is it the same on all types of automatic Jeep Compass transmissions?

This is probably not recommended but i removed that panel on driver side and *lightly* tapped the sensor and camera has been working so far
