Here we go! Im sticking with the Hot Hatch theme and i put a low ball bid into this stolen recovered BMW M140i & i won! This has got to be the cheapest BMW M140i in the UK. In this video i inspect the damage and try to work out what exactly has happened to the BMW.

The white powder is most probably from a fire extinguisher. They use fire extinguisher to delete / minimise fingerprints left on the car from the robbers (as it’s stolen)

That powder is very salty so expect to have a lot of rust on all bolts/rails and even electronics…
They also use them to stop the car in some circumstances.
As in smashing the windows at lights and filling the car with fire repellent powder so the driver can't get away ? So I'm told .
This powder is used by forensics within the police to locate fingerprints if the car was stolen.
@@kasemabbas1928 Not to that degree. I used to buy and sell cars so I came across fingerprinted cars often in auctions, police auctions, buyers selling returned cars and insurance sales etc.
They normally just do the steering wheel doors, buttons, outer door, fuel cap and switches etc. Not the seats and carpets as it's pointless and not to this magnitude.
It's more likely to be the airbags or a fire extinguisher. The latter being my guess.

The only problem in sourcing 2nd hand parts for this online is that they'll possibly be stolen parts from another of these and so the cycle goes on.

@@johnstonlee agreed but I wouldn't not buy a 140i project just because there is a chance that I could buy stolen parts, it felt like every part I bought when I rebuilt my e92 seemed suspicious
@@johnstonlee It's a pretty silly reason to not buy second hand parts though. You buy second hand parts that are the same colour because it's cheaper than buying new parts and you don't have to spend more money painting them. There's no way of knowing if they're stolen or from a car that was wrecked.
I started watching your channel 2 weeks ago and started with the newest ones (2023) and worke my way to the old ones.. Still great but the level of improvement you got over the years is just amazing.. Glad you kept the same good vibe through out the years. Cheers!

Fire extinguisher used to try and clear fingerprints. Only really works over time but longer it’s left will cause erosion in places. Can’t wait to see this build. Sounds nice already 😬

Definitely an enthusiasts, that under body brace in the boot is from the 3dr, it tightens up the rear end, first mod I did to my old M140i.

Evening Matt, Nick here and i work for BTP. That there is Fingerprint powder, it is a very fine powder that is either white or black. White powder is used to dust prints on dark surfaces, and dark powder is used if the print is left on light colored surfaces. Officials use either talcum-based powders for white, or graphite-based powders for black. Hope this helps.
This looks like a steal. Lots of the missing bits inside make for a quick turn around to an almost complete car. After the initial rebuild, I say do as you please because your builds are always entertaining to follow, but what ever you do, we'll all be buying tickets (for an hour until it sells out) as soon as you're finished 😀
Put hybrid turbos on it and meth inject it and stage 3 with a stealth look

Recognize that powder everyday of the week. Fire extinguisher powder, I recommend you remove all electronic components and have them cleaned extinguisher powder etc pcb boards
Yessss Matt. As an M135i F20 owner myself it's good to see you sorting an M140i. The B58 has loads of potential so great to see what you do with it.
RE: Mirror Caps - Stock are ferric grey without the M-Performance however most m-lite owners end up fitting MP ones relatively cheaply.
I have some interior trim which you can have if you want it (brushed aluminium centre console, side vents with black accents and door handles). I took them off to replace with carbon fibre but they're in good nick.
The original parts of the Beemer could be found available at eBay..
Fun fact: this is my BMW that got stolen off my drive back 4 months ago

I had one of these it came with run flats I found myself changing tyres quite a lot lol. These cars love a good ole motorway runs but hate doing short distances.

M2 front end is a great idea! I've seen an m140i with a custom rear M2 rear end on so it's very possible to do as it's been done 👌🏽

Sold my 140i in March. Still miss it... Good luck with the build Mat.
Uprated springs are probably standard because it's an m sport, anti roll bars are normally beefy to, dust is definitely a fire extinguisher

The b58.. a thing of beauty.. I have a 440i with the mppsk On a stage 1 and it’s my daily and I love driving it every day😂 throw a m2 front end on it and put a high flow down pipe on it to go straight to stage 2 with bootmod3😍
Love a new build!!! Might be an unpopular opinion but how about making it into the ultimate sleeper!! Reserved on the outside and as many horsepower as you can get out of that 3.0l engine!!
