My BMW M140i that i bought from auction is slowly coming together. Ive started to rebuild the car using BMW M2 competition parts. As the front end is from a BMW M2 its slightly wider than the M140i, which mean the new alloys sit deeper in the arch, also i have a BMW M2 style rear bumper which now needs a customised exhaust made to fit the rear of the car. Oh yeah and i also decided to straight pipe it 😂

The exhaust sounds amazing! I feel like you shouldn't add the widebody fenders and just do some carbon bits like a front lip and rear diffuser then she will look mint!
Stick the car in sports plus, move the gearbox into sport (but not manual) then hold on left foot brake, max gas and it’ll engage launch control 🚀
Launch control isn’t that good on this since it’s rwd so not much point in it
It always worked great in my M140i 😁 mine wasn’t tuned though and yes expecting it to launch like an RS3 will lead to disappointment. It still wasn’t bad though
@@Holdeenio I always tend to just brake boost mine, only used launch control a few times but I find it’s quicker just giving it like 1.5k revs and letting off the brake in sports +

I think he should because the front wheels are now sticking out more than the back ones and that’s no good
@@jsl82837 no they aren’t buddy? The front wheels are very slightly into the arch by a few mm. Widening the rear arch so close to rear door is a bad idea.
@@sidrens5292 the car has a wider body in the front than the rear, and with the spacers to compensate for that they now are wider out in the front than in the rear, it needs to be wider in the rear.
@@MrToastyman900 I would make up and stick on some bespoke arch trims to give appearance of wider rear section.
Sir Sparco it’s barely wider, nobody’s gonna come up to it with a tape measure to check, it’s not that deep
Mat, no need to widen the rear. It looks amazing as it is now, although, how about replacing the rear lights with the type you got for the M4? This exhaust looks fantastic! Just wrap it and you're done on this one! 👌👌👌👌

@@henrik5360 No it isn’t. Not every car needs a wide front and rear, that’s just the standard way of doing things.
This is a special kind of project and the combination of it all suits it well. The wider arches are just going to ruin the rest of the “lines”.
front and rear should have about the same width at the moment. he could replace the spacers with m2 suspension geometry tho.

Hi Mat, These have the B58 engine in which is shared with the BMW M240i and the toyota Supra, not forgeting various other BMW's, the B58 in these is set to 340 bhp but more often than not puts out 360+bhp in stock form, one guy i know got 372 bhp (or there abouts) on 2 different dynos, with a stage 1 remap 410+ is very obtainable, stage 2 which is what you are nearly at should see you around the 465+ bhp area!

I’ve seen stock m140i read over 360bhp when run on premium fuel ⛽️… with an off the shelf stage 1 map they can hit over 410bhp so the B58 engine is a complete beast 👌🏼 with your exhaust mods, if you do the intake too and stage 2 you’ll hit 450bhp no sweat. That’s why this is a fantastic daily.

Sport+, sports mode on gearbox, left foot brake, right foot flat down to the kick down pedal engages launch 👍🏻

Nailed it with the exhaust. As far as the bodywork goes just wrap it or paint it. Don’t wide body it. Also don’t worry about the hub centric spacers. They’re not driven wheels at the end of the day.
30mm spacers will knock out the wheel bearings in no time though.
The fact when you start the car it doesn’t “cold start” every time could be a good indicator that it’s been mapped
Yea 100% be mapped out, m240i was deafening with an exhaust on oem cold start

I am a huge 140i fan and I love what you have done with it. Even the M2 part give this car a new fresh look. Bro the 4 pipe insane. I have always imaged this car with 4 pipes and today you made my dreams come true.
That exhaust looks damn fine and sounds even better....if it were my choice I wouldn't fit the wide arches, far to much hassle for little gain. I think, once you've wrapped it it's going to look mint....👌

Nice project! love the F20 BMW.. quick question about the front wheels, wouldn't it be better to choose a wheel model with a correct Offset\ET instead of putting such a huge spacer?

there will be alot of drone. i have done both my N55 335i and B58 240i. best sound but alot of drone when cruising or low gear underload. if you can, id recommend a valvetronic system. done both my cars, never going back. sounds beautiful man

Man oh man! The exhaust transformation videos are absolutely my favourite. I've learnt so much from this channel.
That’s Defo had a remap I’ve had mine for a year now and just from video and the idol you can tell it’s had a stage one map, these m140is don’t really like launching compared to the golfs and the rs3s as they have adaptive awd which sends 100% of power to all 4 wheels when launching which is really good unlike the rwd m140i that’s the only bad thing I have to say about mine! Hope this helps matt!
Don’t add a wide body but I would recommend upgrading the air filter. Cheap and has a big effect
Agreed. Airflow is often very restrictive as stock, in cars & bikes.
Matt if you check on the I drive settings go to the sports clocks and if its been remapped the sports clocks bhp should be changed to 400hp

Now the spacers are on it brings the whole front end together, looks wicked! IMO you don't need widened rear arches. Just leave the front wide AF. Hey, if the 'only flared front arches' look was good enough for the Audi S3 8L, it's good enough for this :D

actually a new plate his one is MA06BMX I'm pretty sure this is an 07 but doesn't mean he's keeping it he's put the 06 one on the others as well
Don’t think he will really keep any of the cars it doesn’t make sense for him to keep them for the content he always has to buy , repair , modify , sell he uses the money from the sales of each car to buy his next project

Yo matt on the m140 if you stick it in sport and then click the traction button it will make it crackle much more
Either stealth it out like rear bumper, or go with paint from m2 front and ppf, both will look sick

I'm curious regarding its mechanicals, much has been done regarding its exterior and very impressive it is too but what do we know about its underpinnings suspension, brakes, LSD. I assume it was also tuned by previous owner so wondering have mechanicals been upgraded to accommodate the extra performance.
I wonder when it's finished would it be possible to get a rough estimate of total cost of build basing on owning a standard m140i to finished article
Do a xhp gearbox flash, makes the gear changes a lot quicker, you can customise the pops and bangs on the app aswell!

Looks better with 30mm spacers. A lot of people say fitting spacers causes problems for the geometry set up . I have had 30mm all round on my RRS and never had a problem .
Matt when doing an oil service on this be careful with undoing the oil filter. This engine is known for having the oil filter and the housing crumbling into pieces when undoing it and if that falls in or is hard to remove out of the engine. The whole housing must be replaced and cleaned. Little heads up bro its very common

Mate that car is sounding mint, don't ruin the rear leave it and wrap it in a matt electric blue with carbon accents. So love watching your builds coming along and now with Hannah aswell it's double the fun!! Keep the amazing content coming.

Leave the arches the rear bumper has done a job at making it look all balanced and aggressive front and rear. Love to see this wrapped in a satin red or purple with the bronze alloys to match the m4

Check the sport gauges to see if its reading over 400bhp. Mines mapped and shows 480bhp

Deffo need the wide rear arches! They’ll look awesome. Prob all could’ve got away with 35mm spacers on front, think 40mm would’ve been pushing it a bit.
12:45 Best way to test the exhaust, drive around a town center and if the old folk put their hands over their ears, then you know you have a loud exhaust LOOOL.

Would benefit from the m performance splitter that comes around the bumper to the front of the wheel arch . Would tie the front end in a little nicer. Looks a little odd as if the bumper is too high in comparison to the skirts
