    Hii Michael! I have just started tying my own jigs for this upcoming steelhead season on a spin rod! What is your most recommended marabou I could order online!??Thank you so much and amazing video!!

      Thanks a lot for your feedback, Kelly. Cool that you are getting into steelhead jig tying. Marabou, being a natural material, differs quite a lot in quality, even from the same company. In my experience though, Hareline has a consistent quality. You can find links to the materials in the text below this video.
      Cheers, Michael :0)

      Hi Christian. Yeah sure, that works great for trout. I seldom use trailers with my hair jigs. Your English is just fine. By the way... I'm Danish. Cheers, Michael :0)

    First thing I said was Gartside soft hackle when I saw the thumb nail. Awesome colors, very "ice out" . The flashabou tail really makes it pop. Marabou is great for cold water presentations. I caught a nice brown on a all black marabou jig in April with high cold water. Never knew how it was tied even though I had tied Gartside soft hackles. Now it's clear to me how it's done. I see now you use Loon UV, is it flow or thin? Awesome t-shirt btw, looks like an eyeball. In the Mediterranean and Sicily (where my family emigrated from almost 200 years ago) people use the eye and other symbols to ward off evil.
    Hey remember I told you our NYS fair has awesome concerts? Well Dickie Betts is playing August 28th. Once when I saw the Allman Bros play, they had just finished one of their looooooong jams but Betts was in the "zone", he just kept on jamming until one of the band mates put his hand on his shoulder to tell him to stop. Betts looked at him and went like oops then they all laughed! Thanks Michael 👍😎🎣🎸🎶

      Thanks a lot, Joe. I think there's a lot of ways to tie Marabou Jigs. My way is inspired, as you guessed, by Jack's tying. All black is a really effective color for a lot of fishing situations. The Loon thing: I use both. On these i use the thin stuff... think it's called flow. My T-shirt symbolizes Odin's all seeing eye.
      Cool that Dickey Betts is coming this season. I think of him as kind of an anchorman in Southern Rock. Tight lines my friend :0)

    Great video.... very informative for anyone wanting to learn how to tie a jig. However, you’re not doing yourself any favors using a baitcasting set up for trout.

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks a lot. I see your point, but actually I am - cause I just love fishing baitcasters. Sure the spinning outfit makes it easier to handle the lightest lures, but modern baitcasters have come a long way. I normally have both outfits rigged when I'm on the lake. But i find myself using the baitcasting setup most of the day - just simply because i like the solid feel of the baitcaster when casting for... and fighting the large browns in this lake. Tight lines, Michael 😎
