    What a fantastic video i watched it loved it so i tied some went fishing had some awesome pike i live in the uk,mike your video's and channel have inspired me so much,years ago i use to love fly-tying 12 years ago my mum died it set me back quite away so i never went fishing stopped fly-tying my mum passing away affected me badly anyways 5 days ago,i watched this video ended up watching your channel everday,so 5 days ago i got my fly-tying kit out after 12 years went to my local tackle shop got a load of materials and jig heads the owner of the shop his first words out of his head when he seen me was IT CANNOT BE we both hugged each other and cried like little kids he was so happy i was back into fishing there was 3 other people in the shop that i knew from the past so good to see them again,Mike i guess what I'm trying to say is if i wouldn't have watched your video then i would be still deep in the world of depression it's only been 5 days mike and you and your channel have brought me back from the world of depression back to the land of the Living,i have been fishing the last 3 days and loving something i have loved all my life I'm 48 years old now wow how time goes by quickly,This morning i woke up to my family my wife my daughter and my grand children now that was something i really missed all the counseling i had for depression did nothing for me ,it was your video and your channel mike that gave me so much inspiration and it did more than you will ever know,Thank You mike for the inspiration wonderful video,Derek

    Truth brother! Beautiful jig Michael 👍 The link was awesome too, love that muddler jig, caught my biggest pike on a similar jig. All your ties and tips are tops. I have a set of parralel jaw pliers that I pinch the sides of round jig heads (works best on the softer lead alloys) to flatten and roughens the sides. Makes super gluing those doll eyes with the moving pupils easier. They rattle a little and if a large size eye is used they help keep the jig from rolling on it's side if you let it rest on the bottom. But my favorite jig heads are those tapered wedge shaped called walleye heads. "Do It" makes molds for that style as well as many more styles. (you could spend a lifetime experimenting!) I think they swim nicely for a latteral rod sweep retrieve I like to use. Thanks again Michael, you are a true fisherman!

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks a freaking lot for your kind words, Joe. And for the great tip on using the pliers for flattening the heads slightly. The ones I use in this video haven't any lead in the alloy - so they are pretty hard to shape without heat. But it sure would be useful on a softer material. And you are right... so many jigheads... and so little time ;0) I have finished shooting 5 additional jigtying sbs, that will be sprinkled out on the channel in the coming months between the flies and other fishy stuff - all of them with underwater swimming action clips. All the best my friend :0)

    Michael, do you have suggestions for vices. I mainly am tying Bucktail jigs so 360 rotation and parallel is a must. Not looking to break the bank, just functional. All I care about is 360, ability to lock at all degrees. Any suggestions?

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  Год назад

      Hi C S. I am not the best person to give advice on that i guess, since I have only used two vises for all of my life. One being a Danish produced vise, that is long out of production. The other, and the vise I use for everything today, is my Regal. It is perfect for what I do - all kinds of jig- and fly tying. But it is not really a rotary vise. Check out this link, that might help you out.

      @@MichaelJensensAngling Is it the regal Medallion? I watched this video obviously and the one you are using is what i want. it rotates, but not a true rotary, that's just fine. By biggest concern is the ability to flip the jig over without have to remove it from the jaw.

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  4 года назад +1

      Thanks. Well, it depends on the condition. When sea bass are hunting, as you already know, they aren't picky about the size of the lure. I fished from float tubes and kayak and used 1/2 oz and 5/8 oz heads, both on a 2/0 hook. If you fish from the beach, you might need a heavier head, say 1 oz. So it boils down to: how long casts do you need to make?

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  3 года назад +1

      Hi Cindy. Welcome to the jig tying world. The tool is called a fly tying vice. You can find it in most tackle shops, or on Amazon and other markets. They come in every price range, and for jig tying there's no need to spend a lot of bucks on an expensive vice. Most vices will do fine for that. Cheers, Michael :0)

  • @FattyMateo
    @FattyMateo 5 лет назад +1

    Couple things I'd do differently...
    Don't put the flash low like that to start, makes it more difficult to tip your jig with plastic or pork if you decide to do so later.
    Also, use thin super glue to seal your thread wraps. It penetrates so much better than uv glue. Then use uv as a finish for the wraps.

      @@mojondro Hi Victor. It's a great tip, and it works fine on lead heads. But the head I'm using in this video is a lead free jig head - and it is so hard, that i can't make a scratch in it. All the best. Michael :0)

    What type of glue are you using ?

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  6 лет назад

      Hi Mikelp. I use Loon UV Resin on this jig. It holds up ok, but if i bang the jighead into concrete structures like bridges, jetties a eye might work loose. If that happens i just glue another one in place or remove the eye on the other side. The eyes aren't rock solid fastened, but they make do. All the best, Michael :0)

    What are you applying to the thread glue?

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  6 лет назад

      Hi, I use Loon UV Resin. You can use regular fly varnish instead. I often do that, when I don't need the jigs to dry up in a hurry. Tight lines, Michael :0)

    Is this real buck tail hair or synthetic? Obviously the glitter stuff is fake but the rest looks real.

      Hi Lucas. The glitter stuff is crystal flash, and the rest is real bucktail hair. You can find the pattern in the text below the video ;) Cheers, Michael :0)

      David, if you mean the knot, that finishes of the jig, it's called a whip finish. Here's an instruction for that:ruclips.net/video/_Evnf99pLPY/видео.html

    • @MichaelJensensAngling
      @MichaelJensensAngling  5 лет назад

      Hi Peter, if your thread seems perfectly good, I guess it might be your bobbin (thread holder) that has some sharp edges. You can smooth out the mouth area of the tube by pulling a piece of wool yarn with some toothpaste on through the bobbin. Hope that solves the problem. All the best, Michael :0)

    What kind of resin are you using? Does it bond to metal?

      Hi, sorry bout the slow answer. I've been offline for some weeks - in remote fishing areas, where getting internet wasn't really an option ;0) I use Loon UV Resin. It holds up ok, but if i bang the jighead into concrete structures like bridges, jetties a eye might work loose. If that happens i just glue another one in place or remove the eye on the other side. I've read in quite a few places that Duco Cement works best, and does chemically bond to metal. Haven't tried it yet myself though, as I ordered a lot of jig heads with eyes painted on recently.
