      Just wondering have you ever used hackle pliers to wrap your marabou around your hook shaft?

    Good looking jig right there and good video. Glad you gave smalljaw some credit. He's a gem for tying lessons for sure.

    Did you have to modify the mold for the longer bait keeper?

    Sooo. I just got into doing crappie jigs. Want to do some of these for smallmouth. Marabou vs bucktail (synthetic as well). Would they flow the same? Easier for me to get bucktail and synthetic. Instead of marabou.

    That jig looks good. Is it really necessary to add a trailer? When you fish it what type of trailer do you add? It looks good as is. Thanks.

      Thanks Robert - I don’t add a true trailer, just a small 1” section of Maxscent to add just a little extra weight on the shank of the hook for casting distance

    Welp now i need some marabou haha would a few pieces of flash be to much for a hair jig?

    • @BaitMakingChannel
      @BaitMakingChannel  Год назад

      I didn’t do it in this jig, but I always add 3 strands of flash to mine. It’s superstition more than anything

    Looks like a 1/0 gammy 111. Have you tried the victory equivalent yet

    • @BaitMakingChannel
      @BaitMakingChannel  Год назад

      Hey Billy - Yeah, the shape/diameter is the same but the victory hook has much less flex vs the Gami which tends to be a little softer

    re: Wetting the marabou by licking your fingers. Bad idea. Use a damp cloth to wet your fingers. You don't want to find out what could happen.

      @@BaitMakingChannel Diseases, the two major ones are psittacosis, and histoplasmosis. Psittacosis is a bacterial infection transmitted by inhalation of dust from the bird's feces or feathers. Histoplasmosis is a fungus that grows on bird feces, and transmitted in the same way.

    I guess I don't see the need to use a lead head jig when making marabou lures. A simple marabou streamer, minus a lead jig head, can be rigged as a pseudo wobble head, Tokyo rig, a power shot or drop shot and so on. You control the position in the water column by the length of the leader to the weight. Also, this allows you to easily fish the weight you need to , for the rod and reel you already have. Practically endless variations are easily rigged .. plus the marabou streamer can be fished in a normal horizontal presentation, rather than the yoyo movements forced by the jig head.
