Will It Work? #1: Polaroid Sun600 Camera

I found a used Polaroid camera for cheap at a thrift store recently. Here we find if it works and I give some tips on how to check if the used camera works before you buy it.

This brings back many memories. My father got me this camera for my birthday in 1981. I was thrilled! Its so strange seeing it again all these many decades later. I'm going to buy it but will probably have to pay the Amazon full price for it.

I pad £22 for mine, There were cheaper options but I wanted one that had a 2ft to infinity focal range and a self timer, so I paid a bit more and got the Polaroid One 600 Ultra, which is one of the last ever 600 models I think. apart from double exposure and itype support it's basically just a cheap Polaroid Now alternative

I just got this exact one but it doesn't have the light on the back. Also how do you take a picture with a polaroid. I clicked the button like like I do with all my cameras but the image came out black why?

Try shooting outside during the day. Polaroids need a lot of light. If that doesn't work you may have a bad camera.

I’m going to look at a 600 sun tmrw. It’s my first Polaroid camera so I don’t have any empty cartridges to test it out. Do you have any suggestions? If I put a new pack in there and it doesn’t work can I just take it back out?

You can but you will be wasting at least 2 pictures. I suggest testing it out with an empty cassette of film first to see if the mechanism works. Then test it with new film.

I’m using brand new film in mine but my pictures are not developing well (only see a portion of my photo on the top). Any idea why?

That's strange that it is happening with new film. There could be something wrong with the camera itself. Are the pictures ejecting properly? Check that the rollers are clean.

The film pack has the batteries. There is no charging with the vintage polaroid cameras. The new ones you have to charge using a USB connection.
