When you said “$25 screen” I was thinking “wow that’s expensive” I’m a real tinker. Wherever I go I always pick up free stuff that I think will be useful in the garden. Have a great weekend brother.
Good evening my fellow worm farmer from Jesus and me. The cardboard rolls in the center of toilet paper make great bait rolls. I partially fill them with one of their favorite foods - banana peels - that I chop up just a bit. I bury them about half way into 😮the bedding. Within just about 24 hours they are filling up with worms! Try it and be prepared to be amazed ! ! ! Thank you ever so very much Marty for all you share so clearly with us fellow worm farmers! I, for one, really am very grateful for all you share so willingly with all of us.😊
G;Day Marty all that you said is spot on been doing for years . However, I fill the prior moistened egg carton paper layers, etc with about 2mm to 1cm of spent coffee grounds then water again and add 2 to 3 sheets of newspaper wt those again and cover with hessian bags or shade cloth The worms go birko over that and breed faster in my experience PROVIDING keep additional food up to them as not much protein in paper mate. Dont overdo the coffee thickness as it can crust up as well HEAT up
@@martysgarden not seen that one but will sniff it out later. Been dealing with worms farms for over 50 years way before they hit the marrket. I apss on via a usb much of your stuff to those that are not all that internet savvy .Keep it up Marty all good sensible stuff
Ly putting my 3 tray worm farm back together after last summers drowning. Was away os till June, so a bit warmer at night so back to it. The 7 in grounds r doing well so I can grab worms from one of them to start again. Been missing the leachate, but winter has not required too much feeding on all the veges producing at present. Your place is looking good Marty....God work.
Cool!.. i have shredded newspaper in my worm farm but I've never done the lauers like you have plus i need to go feed my worms and I have some eggg cartons so I'll try that now. Thanks 👍
Our egg cartoons are using glossy stickers on the outside of box, bring back lightly inked cartoons, I believe Cole’s have them in their own brand but they never have any on the shelf?
Good afternoon Marty I have a question. Can I use worm tea on agapanthus? My farther in law has planted quite a few in our front garden and just wondering about fertilizer killing them if it's the wrong type. Many thanks. Love your channel and videos Russ
I probably need to tell you our climate over here in the west is fairly harsh temperature wise. We are in Geraldton which is about 450km north of Perth on the coast
Yes, harsh climate for sure I know where it is. You would do well growing Asian tropical food there. Kangkong, Betel leaf, Okra etc. Papaya and lots of topical fruit trees!
@@martysgarden I have them but they moody- does that matter? They just in the silver bags from Starbucks my friend gets them when they go for a cuppa. I don’t drink it lol But for some reason gone moldy in the bags. Probably coz they not I’m the compost pile yet as haven’t had the weather to turn it. It’s been raining nonstop for 4 days now- well there’s been the pod time it’s not raining but still wet outside would think it’s winter or at least spring out there tbh defo not summer.
Marty thanks for todays tips i got a worm farm or 2 two, and sometimes when the worm farm house is full i also use the Compot which i got at Ekka and now Council have got us using the Bokashi bin. so I try spread around the waste what hack i was going to say i use to collect the free complimentary newspaper at the Qantas Terminals back before Covid now they dont give out the newspapers sadly. And the local Ward Newspaper has gone the way of the online webpage I found out that sometimes JbHifi and Chemist Warehouse use newspaper material as their paper of choice for advertisements. Every time i pass by JB i just get a newspaper catalog or 2 there's no regrets they're catalog that going to be dumped after the week or 2 weeks of the sale thanks for the good work about worm farming much appre.
@@rosemaryryan6455 thats right i wouldnt even buy the Sunday newspaper full of BS for $3 to just glaze over the articles to then feed the worms that BS. Its also too bad white pages yellow pages is now a short library book of 100 pages not enough material to give the worms at the end of the phone book year. Dont forget chemist warehouse does the newspaper thing anything to keep costs to $0. Oh its also possible The Good Guys who is owned by JB are also providing newspaper advertisement material TBC.
