    For an even more eco-friendly version, find some free 5 gallon buckets from a local store or restaurant! Most of them end up in landfills

      They work, but lack surface area which a good worm farm needs. Done both and prefer the stackable models myself.

    The worst thing you can use as compost is shrimp shells. They take forever to decompose. Your neighbors will hate the smell & you may have to pay a steep fine.

    Can i use peat moss instead of coco coir? Peat moss is easier to find in my area...

      @martysgarden thank you for your response &helpful tips. I've read that I shouldn't use it because peat moss ph is 5 or 6, although I haven't tested it myself yet... 😅 I've read they can digest acidic foods so was hoping it wouldn't cause my red wigglers any harm. Thanks again and have a good day 😊

    I have heard that dried out onion and citrus, out in the sun for days I guess and crushed up is worm food.
    Do you know the Weedy Gardener? He showed doing that. The onion peels were like dried thin and crackly.
    Perhaps the process breaks the acids down. It's only the peels anyway, right?

    • @martysgarden
      @martysgarden  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, that works, citrus skin actually make great fire starters when dry. The Weedy gardener lives near me somewhere
