I have chronic back pain. The best mattress I found is one that vibrates. It’s like a giant TENS unit. If I’m in a lot of pain the vibration blocks the sensation of the pain with the sensation of vibration.

A major problem with people who have back pain for a long time is they do less because of the pain and that makes them weak and that has a chain effect and makes the back worse. Building strength back up in my opinion is the most important thing.

Bob and Brad thankyou for making these videos to help others stay healthy. I always love looking at the comradery between the two of you. I never thought that I would need any of the advise you have for people with these videos. Well I can't believe how wrong I was.About a week and a half ago, I woke up with the worst pain ever coming from my butt and running all the way down to my ankle. It is the most excruiating pain I have ever felt. I am in agony ever. I went to the ER 2 times already, because I cant stand this pain. The doctors in the ER give me 2 prednisone shot and some pain killers which is not helping much. I am praying and hoping tjat it will all go away soon. I cant even do the stretches that you recomend for the sciatic nerve or piriformis, because it gets more aggravated. I am really praying and hoping it all ends soon. I welcome any prayers for my recovery from this. I would not wish this pain on anyone !

Mattress? After my divorce I lived in poverty and could not afford a real bed so I slept on a used old hollow-core door covered with a $20.00 four inch foam mat.
It was just fine, so I never went out and bought the real deal.
I'm sure that the fact that I only weighed 125 pounds helped a lot.
Now I am 81 years old and I've graduated to an all wool mattress (24 layers of lovely vintage wool blankets (12 folded) placed on top of regular wooden bed slats.
My back thanks me every morning. I feel so blessed. I'm like our ancient ancestors who never had a Posture-pedic store neayby!

Most of my back pain is probably caused by arthritis and the best way for me for recovery from a night (usually a long/cold one is to get the joints moving. But i get a different kind of pain (lower back) from prolonged standing, for example washing up (not an excuse for not doing it). Usually walking or even just sitting and stretching relieves the pain but it can quickly come back and doesn't disappear completely until aftera long rest (eg a night's sleep). I assume this is muscle pain.

There is a definite correlation between food and back and joint pain. For me, if I have a lot of salty foods, sugar and foods with gluten The next day my back and hands hurt and there is inflammation there. When I stay away from my trigger foods, the pain lessens considerably.

    • @drirene57

I had chronic diffuse pain, along with spinal stenosis. Everything was getting worse over time. I went on the ultimate elimination diet, the carnivore diet, eating only meat from ruminate animals (they have 4 chambers in their stomach and process their food more). Jordan Peterson and his daughter, Mikhaela popularized this diet. I couldn’t believe how good I felt after 1 week! I stayed carnivore for 4 weeks, then I added food back one at a time. I discovered I was sensitive to all grains, dairy, eggs, pork and nightshades (tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers). I haven’t felt this good in 30 years!!! Even my back pain was so much better! Eating this way puts you into ketosis, where you start burning your body fat instead of glucose. This shift takes 7 days and causes the keto-flu, where you feel like you have the flu. It’s treated with increase in water, salt, magnesium and potassium (available over the counter). If you have heart disease or diabetes you should consult with your doctor before doing this.

My back and hips hurt so bad when I go for a walk that I have to stop ✋ I’m not sure 🤔 if I should try to push through the pain or if I even can.

The only thing that gives TEMPORARY relief is Cat Cow stretching in the morning and that's only TEMPORARY. Lower back tightness comes right back. Can not bend over forward due to fear of re-injuring back and now dealing with depression and back issues.
