I struggled with the mounting of the board as well. They provided 3 spacer that are 1/4 in too short. If I didn’t screw it all the way down to make it higher, the board and the screw would pivot freely, and ground wire wouldn’t be tightened down. Had to add 2 lock washer at the bottom. I read this problem years ago and I don’t know why they still not provide longer spacers.
Pentair is a scam. FYI if anyone has a transformer in the housing (small silver rectangle) the new one light will fit (loosely) you don't need to remove the heat sinks. If the light is good and your transformer is blown you can get it out with a hot knife (soldering iron) and drill just be careful not to damage the wires. If you need to test a light, your garden lights should be 12v and safe to use to test with (use the wires to touch the two tabs).
Omg this is sooo helpful. Me and my wife just bought a house with a pool and one of the lights went out. Looked online and one replace is nearly 1,000 dollars!! I have a stupid question so bare with me, did you have to drain the pool to access the light? Or can you just turn off the breaker and remove from the pool?
Hello David, Just turn off the breaker and pull the light out, hopefully whoever installed them left enough cable so you can pull it out of the water to change the board. Thank you for your good comment:)
The company that makes the substitute control boards have only one kind for a pool with 2 options (white color or multi color) and one for the spa. What kind is your light? I can look it up and help you figure it out
Why do you not have a heater on your pool pretty lady? My pool looks to be about the same size except mine is a cozy 90 degrees right now and all the time. Even in the dead of winter. 80 thousand dollars is too much to pay to not be able to use it year round.
😂 what state do you live at and what is your gas bill for the whole year? I have been trying to figure it out but it looks like it will be around $1000 per month. Does that sound right?
@@GenovevaNinova I live in Louisiana. My gas bill during months when the pool heater is used a lot varies between 200 to maybe 400 dollars at the most. Gas is typically not expensive here in the south. Non peak usage months it is sub 50 dollars a month. Electricity however is pretty high relatively speaking. Electricity in non peak months is around 100 dollars a month and goes up as much as 450 to 500 dollars during the summer. Most of that is due to the AC running pretty much 24-7. That factored in to choosing the gas heater VS the electric heater by Pentair. What state or country are you in?
I can verify that this is quality product. The Intellibrite engine is crap. This light is way better at less than half the price. FTR I've been in the pool business for almost 30 yrs.
Hi Jesus, they have a new model and hopefully it’s better than the one i have. It really does the work but the motors fail in about a year. The company is called Solar Breeze
My pentair board lasted three months. After arguing with them they sent another board. Lasted six months. Pure garbage. Ordered your board from Florida Sunseeker. Only issue is that the Pentair fixture does not fit properly into the original Hayward niche.
Thank you so much for the video, we are having the same problem with the board, and we are currently looking for cheaper solutions. Greetings from México :)
After watching your video I decided to replace the 4 lights on my pool and one in the spa, I was pretty easy task, my only problem now is that the colors selection doesn’t match with my easy touch or the ScreenLogic app. I don’t see to find a workaround this. Any suggestion?
The new boards have more colors that is why the lights that you order on your Screen Logic Pentair do not match. However i managed to sync them and still make them change colors. Let me know if you need help with that.
@@GenovevaNinova can you please describe how you synced them? I know the functions on the easy touch remote and how to sync, however one out of four wont sync for me. Any advice? thanks.

I've been doing pool repairs for almost 20 years and I can tell you when it comes to that stupid screw it's either going to take 3 minutes or 30; one time I had one that was 3 hours because I had to make a trip to the store and look for a stainless screw and a 10-24 tap which turned into a 1/4-20 tap along with that size screw😵

Empowered intelligent women are so sexy! I can’t help but think of a parody commercial for a pool repair company where you saunter up to a pool in a bikini and then pull out some tools and start repairing the pool! 🤣🤣. Great job! Suggest you buy yourself some deep socket Klein nut drivers! Way faster than those open/closed wrenches you have! Thanks for the informative and entertaining video!!! (Agree with you on Pentair btw... way overpriced given the minuscule warranty!!)
I have the same unit, that black epoxy resin they used at the base, is there any electronics in there? I only ask because I connected a 12v transformer and I could not get any voltage reading from the end to the light. It was very odd, I didn't see a fuse either, Can anyone help me?
Yes I just replaced the Pentair Sam light after spending $80 and $40 on new bulbs, for it only to fail. I purchased this kit from sun seekers.com for $319. After some experimenting with which wires to use to get the required 12 VAC it works beautifully. I believe there are 400 led lights in it. The light is bright and will hopefully last awhile for the price. Still a much cheaper option than replacing the whole thing. Yes there is an internal transformer inside the black epoxy that reduces 120 to 12 VAC, from what I have read and what mine was reading.
She has no clue what she’s doing. She said lights were hooked up to transformer but also said they are 120v. Taking lights apart are not recommended by any manufacturer. I do agree Pentair lights are junk, Jandy has far and away the best lights in the industry.
Hi Dave, I probably did not use the correct verbiage but i was able to change the lights and showed all of the steps. My lights still work and I am happy that I did it myself. And yes I had no idea what I was doing but I did it. Have a great evening:)
