- In this video we demonstrate how you remove a failed Pentair Intellibrite color LED light engine board and replace it with a Pool Baron after market color LED light engine
Florida Sunseeker provides spade connectors by default. We do not provide the quick connectors in the video unless requested as they are very uncommon.
120V Intellibrites have a transformer at the bottom of the fixture beneath the resin inside. Extra epoxy resin is poured over them as a precaution. In some cases, people may need to remove the heat syncs at the back by removing the white glue to make more space for installation.

So i just purchased 2 of these replacement boards and installed today. A couple small hurdles to get over. #1... there was no "quick Connect" on my lights nor the replacement board. So I had to match up the pos/neg, which was tricky because one board had TWO red wires vs a black and a red... #2... the spacer that you put on the ground wire nut was too short so when i tightened the screw down the board tilted way up. ( I ended up putting one of the old nuts that held the OLD board down on top of the ground nut and then put the spacer on and it worked great) #3.. I watched their video using the N=North methodology before I read the below comments on NARROW and WIDE.. My lights are on the side of the pool so I guess I should have used WIDE, but now don't want to take the rings off again if it compromises the new seals... #4.. i turn the lights on and it cycles through EVERY light and then ends up on a random color.. i choose another color and it cycles through all the colors again and a couple times ends up on the color I chose. I'll mess with the app more and see if starts to sync up.

The W and N marks on the lens refers to Wide or Narrow not to North or West side and is intended so you can direct the beam of light on a wide or narrow path depending on your pool needs.

Just recieved my replacement board from sunseeker had the GARBAGE PENTAIR #601000 series this lite sells for $800 I will never buy a pentair lite again ,BUT Jeff's board works well its brighter & more combo's compared to pentair way to go JEFF 👍🎯 , P.S if any change I will post to let you all know.

For anyone with an internal transformer, make sure you test it... you can test your old light with garden light wires (they are 12v). If it is your transformer you can remove the old with a drill and hot knife (soldering iron). Easier than replacing the whole unit. Transformer is 40-50$. Not sure why people remove the heat sinks, even with the transformer you still have A LOT of room back there.. just install the new led loosely, may not lay perfectly flat but certainly fits.
I have older pentair intellibrite lights from around 2007, they have a brass/copper inside. Will these work on those as well?

Hi, I currently have Pentair 601301 IntelliBrite 5G White Underwater LED Pool Light 120V 50foot cord, 500 Watt Equivalent. It is flickering and I would like to replace it with the one that changes color. Will this kit work as a replacemnet for that? The light unit was installed 2 years ago.
My Intellibrite has failed, and I'm considering the Pool Baron. I understand it won't change colors via the Intellibrite controller, and only via cycling power. Does it matter what setting the exisiting controller is set to? Should I remove it? What happens if it don't, and someone changes changes the setting on the controller switch? Thanks.

North? N means narrow beam but with this kit focus probably changes anyway.
Hi Jeff, I have 2 of these on the way as I had 1 of my pentairs go out so figured I’d just replace both. I just pulled out the lights and I’m slightly concerned. My boards do not have the quick connect on the wires. The wires go straight to the terminals. How do I proceed??

How does your bulb effect the narrow or wide beam projection of the lense? That is why the lights are on the bottom to rotate the lense for either narrow or wide beam.
There isn’t any effects, with the replacement you just have a beam of light on all direction , the way around they have to fix the Narrow or Wide angles is they 18watts version or they 36 watts. Just less intensity but no way to change the angles.
The replacement LED engine only works with the newer Intellibrite 5g version.

Beware, this board doesn't really work for the 120v version of the light. I bought this board for my 120v Pentair Intelibrite 5G light from Florida Sunseeker, but the transformer takes up more room at the base of the light so there is no niche for the replacement board to fit into, as there is in the 12v light. I contacted customer service and was told I should remove the heat sinks from the board, as they are not necessary, and then the board would fit. I was hesitant to modify the board so I told them I wanted to return the board. They then charged me for shipping and an additional 20% restocking fee for my return. Needless to say, I am disappointed with their customer service. Update: They have now agreed to give me a full refund.

The Pentair housing has what looks like a black ceramic filler in the center. My filler is almost flush with the wide surface (3/16" from the wide surface). The heat sinks cannot sit recessed to the point were I can attach the kit's screw to the grounding lug. How can I resolve this? Can I chip away some of the "filler"?
Charles Booth , any solution to your problem yet? I just received my light and having almost the same issue, even though I do have the so called filler sitting a bit lower on my Pentair it still too high up as to now allow the pool baron light to sit recessed to the point where I can attach the screws correctly and have the light level all the way around...any feedback would be much appreciated, thank you
Leo, I ended up calling the vendor and he said to remove the heat sinks. I asked "wouldn't that reduce the life span of the light?". He said "yes", and that was about it. I removed the heat sinks and still I had an 1/8" gap. I used a spacer on the ground post to gain clearance and to level the disk. It didn't get additional support from the other posts but seemed ridged enough. It's working. I'm hoping the 50,000 hour life span of the LED emitter will last at least half that long without the heat sinks. It might outlast me!

Can you do a video on how to swap out the Pentair Intellibrite 5G spa light? Pentair says the driver board is not replaceable so I am curious as to how this is accomplished and how easy it is.
Yes, we are the only company I am aware of that makes a replacement part. The replacement is almost the same as the larger size light. I will try and make a video soon but the part is available now.

@@tapermule as per the owners manual for this light. If the light is mounted at the end of the pool you would use the N (Narrow) in the top location. If the light is mounted on the side of the pool, it is recommended that the W (Wide) be located at the top.
