Great video, I have the same issue on my beetle, I couldn't figure out where the leak is coming from. Now I suspect is have to be the water pump. Thanks
Great video, I wish your go pro was angled down a little more. But thank you for making this. I’ll be doing this next Saturday if Audi doesn’t cover the repair under warranty.
Thanks for the video! I used it today to remove my manifold and replace my water pump. I have a question. I accidentally pulled the wires out of the 2-pin connector to the water pump when I removed the manifold. There is a yellow and a brown wire. Do you know which pin (1 or 2) goes to the yellow wire and which one goes to the brown wire? Any help you could provide is much appreciated.
Hi I just did the same job on my 2014 vw jetta, after topping off with coolant and letting the car idle, everything was going good up until I applied the gas pedal, then my engine began to misfire. It’s on cylinder 3/4 and these where not present before I replaced the pump and both spark plugs and coils are new and have only 8,000 miles on them. Any ideas on what I may have done
Randy Templeton ended up just being a vacuum line off the intake manifold, the one by the fuel line in the video. I just didn’t have it hooked on all the way
120, and it was the water pump, after I remove the intake manifold I noticed that the plastic assembly was broken. I bought the complete assembly from the dealership for 240.
If you're in the US, this pump resulted in a lawsuit against VW and they've settled as of Dec 2019. If you paid to get this replaced, you can submit for reimbursement (Deadline is Apr 30, 2020). If yours just failed and that's why you're here researching (i.e like me), VW extended the warranty on the part to 10Yrs/100k miles so you can take it to the dealer and they'll replace it for free. Sadly for me, I'm above the 100k miles, so this will be an out of pocket expense for me but you may benefit. See here for details: enginewaterpumpsettlement.com/
Fouad Jamoukha I knew all of this. I got a letter about a month ago. Thanks for posting this so that the public can see this. I should put your link in my title drop-down. I repaired this myself of course. I plan to file but I’ll probably just maybe get reimbursed for the parts. Good thinking for you’re reply. Thanks.
so here we are in 2022, I have a 2014 Turbo GSR with 62,000 miles - My wife just made the trip from Florida to Ohio and had to add coolant every 2 1/2 hours on the way home. Would this still be covered by the warranty?
@@randytempleton5797 my apology didn't mean to offend you but it is a really good video I just can't find the intake support bracket 13 mm nut and 10 mm triple square bit on my 2011 vw Tiguan
You the BEST,it is not EASY JOB,I work on BMW,MERCEDES and VW BEETLE(changing water pump is not easy job,it is highly skilled job

Jose Jimenez Yes it’s difficult to pinpoint if you’re not sure where to look. I think it’s kind of a common problem.
How many miles on your Beetle?
Xavier Lemos 47,000 now
4 Yeats later, you saved me like $1300 and a LARGE HEADACHE
Glad to help!
Great video thanks for taking the time to do it🙏🏻

Great video, currently working on my 2014 Jetta SE, with the same issue. Looks to be like the same disassembly with a few minor differences.
danbell917 Thank you. Good luck.

My coolant falls right out my car within 5 minutes, problem started yesterday. Going to take it to be looked at , hopefully it doesn’t cost too much 😢

Edward Polishchuk Not really. Unless a wire or a connector could have gotten pulled loose. Let me know if you find it.

Thank you for the video...very helpful!
How long is the job?
Book time is 5.9 hours. I did it in 5.5, but that doesn’t include diagnosing it or road testing and confirming afterwards.

Jose Jimenez Glad you got it pinpointed.
The water pump is just plug and play or needs to be timed too?
Rene Garcia Plug and play.
Great video, thanks for posting! How many miles on the Beetle when the pump failed?
Xavier Lemos approximately 42,000.
Same with MK6
