  • No, it's not a real V, but it is a real Bose. With 15 speakers, can Cadillac manage not to screw it up?

    I personally went and tested out the Bose 15 speaker sound system and it seems like most of the bass comes from the 6x9 door speakers. There is not an actual Subwoofer in the rear deck, like the good ole Cadillac ATS. There is 2 bass modules in the rear deck and they produce a decent amount of bass, it gets real muddy on the low end. Seems like the system has trouble hitting those low bass frequencies, however once there’s some low bass going on the rear, plastic speaker covers rattle sorta loud. Honestly it’s hard getting bass to come out from the back without stressing the front door speakers because you can only adjust so much from the EQ.

    Personally I don’t know why Cadillac got rid of 5.1 surround sound systems in their newer cars and SUV’s. I’m talking an actual CD/DVD/BLU-RAY player that can at minimum support the 5.1 format. I absolutely hated getting rid of my wife and I’s 2011 SRX 2.8T just because all of the newer Cadillac SUV’s don’t have a true surround sound system that can play true high quality high resolution audio. I know that audiophiles hate……loath BOSE but the system that was in our SRX sounded great to me. I was able to play all of my DVD audio discs that I purchased years ago and added a bunch more over the last 3 years. The BOSE system in our XT6 sounds good but I would think that Cadillac would still have an actual disc player as an available option. I know everything has gone streaming or Bluetooth audio but so much sound quality is lost when compared with an actual disc IMO. Apple has some music in Dolby Atmos which is cool. However that format has been out for a while and there aren’t any Cadillacs that offer it unless you buy a $100K plus Escalade. I wouldn’t mind streaming as much if Cadillac would at least offer a true surround sound to play the format as an option. I know 8-tracks and cassette tape players went out of the market years ago but a digital disc is still the best way to enjoy true high resolution audio.

      Yep i have the true 5.1 dvd AUDIO format in my CTS and Buick Enclave. DVD Audio discs are hard to find, as is DTD encoded music discs. I have anice collection but the problem will be when I get ANY new Caddy or Buick, I will miss having my 5.1 DVD sound system for music. Artist are redoing their catalog (like Jethro Tull) in 5.1 DTS and 5.1 Dolby digital ...shame now the hardware is not there to support it, except for home systems.

      I added a 12 Rockford Fosgate Sub to my 2019 CTS V sounds great now. Funny thing is I had to do the same to my 16 Speaker BOSE in my Infiniti M37 Factory Sub Suxx!!

      @@avonnorrisYes they definitely do. I don’t want to shake my vehicle or the ones around me to pieces but I want a decent sub. Especially if I’m paying over 100 grand on a vehicle.

    Late to this video, but the bose system in my 2023 ct5-v sounds absolutely pathetic. The 3 center frequencies overlap greatly. The head unit is GM, not Bose. The speakers and amp may be bose, but it sounds to me that bose did very little sound processing or corrections internally for the equipment they supplied, if there is such a process for this between them and GM, but it sounds like mud and plastic. There's no sweet spot whatsoever. Music is recorded at flat responses. Eq curves should never be boosted above or cut below flat by +3db/-3db. If it requires a +8db above flat to even get a decent sound from tweeters and a -5db to unmuddy the mids, then you are having to do way too much to overcompensate for crappy equipment.. this is the case here with the ct5-v bose system

      You are right. The BEST and PURIST Bose car system was the original one used in the 1979 Riviera (and likley ELdorado and Toronado). It did EVERYTHING perfectly ...and with only 4 speakers. Talk about perfectionists, they even eliminated teh digital pre amp for volume, used a mechanical rheostat, and eliminated any distortion form the bass and treble tone controls by making them ONLY lower, not boost. Lowering does not require preamp processing, which adds distortion). So the neutral flat tone slider is actually fully up, and there is even a detent position in the up (flat) position. This system did not need an adjustment of bass and treble, exactly like it is supposed to be, perfectly balanced neautral sound the way the music was made with every bas, mid, and treble note perfectly bakanced with elaborate eq built into the speaker power modules. Since Bose got famous from this engineering marvel, they have gone down hill IMHO and do not spend as much time in tailoring the sound to the car., and also eliminating their anti-distortion features. The the Lexus Mark Levison system in about 2008 did what Bose use to do. You could use the ML system like u use to be able to with Bose systems, that is, without ANY adjustment to tone controls, it was already EQ'd perfectly to the cabin.

    Sorry but listening on my headphones with good bass, the bass sounds muddy, undefined. Not getting down to the real lows perhaps because there is no real subwoofer.

    • @ulisesgarcia3229
      @ulisesgarcia3229 2 года назад

      Don’t understand why they simply can’t stick an actual sub rather than those 6x9 bass modules. They do nothing but vibrate the rear deck. Also it distorts once it’s pushed it’s limits… main bass comes from door speakers and it rattles the panels like crazy smhhh

    • @Radarcb329
      @Radarcb329 2 года назад +1

      @@ulisesgarcia3229 Total mistake to not have subwoofer and appropriately cross lower frequencies from door speakers to real subwoofer. I had a Suburu which only had door speakers and tweeters. Bought an OEM Rockford amp add on with different speakers in the doors. Even though the new speakers didn’t vibrate in the door, there was a terrible resonance at around 60 Hz. Now I have a different Subaru with a HK system with subwoofer which sounds much better, but they still put too much lower frequency stuff in the door speakers, now causing loose stuff in the door pockets to vibrate.
