I bought the Vizio all in one soundbar and it’s incredible. It’s highly detailed and has some insane bass. I agreed with your thoughts on just turning the bass down and it was perfect. The midnight mode also works wonders for when everyone goes to sleep. I’ve recommended it to everyone and people that have come over have been pleasantly surprised with the new addition to the set up!

Hey there, fellow Caleb fans! I bought the Vizio all-in-one soundbar almost exactly one year ago today, and I can confirm it sounds extremely impressive for its price! The clarity is exceptional and it can get ridiculously loud, so you definitely don't have to worry about volume. For those of you who have a JBL Flip 5/6, I'd say it's roughly equivalent to pairing two of those together in stereo, if that helps give you any reference. Anyway, hope this helped, and always a joy watching and learning from your videos Caleb! Happy holidays!

Hi Caleb! I bought the M51ax-J6 with your recommendation 6 months ago and have absolutely zero regrets. The sound quality is fantastic and having 5.1 surround sound with virtual atmos (thanks to my slanted ceilings the up firing speakers would’ve been wasted on me) I can honestly say it’s the best setup for my situation. HOW DO YOU LIKE IT? i am about to buy it right now. I have a TCL Q7 tv and I LOVE IT. 10/10 perfect! But I tried their Q class 5.1 surround sound and the box and TCL website lied , it only has a 5.5 inch sub , not a 6.5 inch as labeled right on the box. A quick tape measure test and sure enough, it's only 5.5 inches.. LIES!!!! That alone makes me want something else. but the BASS IS NOT CONTROLLABLE enough. I have to crank the volume really loud in order to get the bass up. On your soundbar, m51ax-j6, are you able to keep the volume pretty low and crank the bass up really high? LOTS OF THUMP without the soundbar blaring loud?

Sonos was good for music but trash for movies - the dialogues were not clear and the music was way too overpowering even with the dialogue setting on. I put the bass level up 5 or 6 levels and it was way too bumpy and vibrating. I honestly leave the bass and treble at the middle default setting, have VRT:X and TvVOL off and the EQ setting on Direct, and it sounds great. I bought all of them on sale and came in under $2,500 for everything including 2.1 HDMI cables and a couple Ultra HD DVDs. The fidelity of the sound also felt like a huge upgrade versus the basic LG soundbar I upgraded from. I have the Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 3 and it is astounding. It supports most all of the current sound technology and has pretty fantastic bass without an actual sub-woofer. You should do a video on this unit. It's really that good.

A tip for those considering the Sony HT-A9 with the 360 spatial mapping tech. You can get the same 360 spatial mapping on their flagship soundbars. You just need the Sony SA-RS5 wireless surround speakers too. If you're like me and couldn't swallow the $1200+ price tag for the HT-A7000, then the good news is the HT-A5000 also supports it. I think these have since been replaced by the Sony Bravia 8 and Bravia 9 soundbars. But that means you can now get the HT-A5000/7000 even cheaper. Costco has the HT-A5000 for $499. So you can get that, the SA-RS5 pair for $500 and the smaller Sony SA-SW3 for $300. $1300 is still a lot. But it's got the same spatial mapping tech and is amazing IMO. You'd have to pay more just for the HT-A9 set and then you'd also want a sub. for my moderate sized living room the HT-a5000 with SA-RS5's and SW3 sub is MORE than good enough. It's freaking amazing. I don't think people realize how good that spatial mapping tech is. And Sony really dropped the ball by making it difficult to set up properly. I have read a ton of bad rviews on the Sony soundbars from people that have no idea about this capability and they never got it set up properly, so the soundbars (5000/7000) are just expensive soundbars that aren't really that special otherwise.

One thing I'm pondering as I try to decide which TV/soundbar combo I want is whether there is a big advantage to brand-matching these two things? I'm leaning heavily toward the LG G3 OLED, but I'm torn between the LG S95QR and Samsung Q990C soundbars. Would I realize a better overall experience if I matched the S95QR to the G3 because of Wow Orchestra?

I'm in the same boat as you also. I have a LG C3 and want to also know if I should go with LG S95QR with the new firmware update from earlier this spring that fixed 1st year 2022 issues with this sound bar and the benefits of LG WoW with the LG TV extra processing and speakers and stay in Brand or go mixed setup with the Sammy Q990C sound bar and rely solely on it for atmos/and general sound processing minus what the Q990C can do extra with a Sammy Tv processing with the Qsymphony?

Agreed on the Vizio M213AD-K8. Sounds great, relatively inexpensive. Got it for my bedroom TV. Good full sound, punchy bass for not having a separate sub. Decent sound staging without any surround speakers.

I just got the Sony HT-A9 with an SW5 subwoofer because it seemed like the best setup for my needs. I've only tested it out a little bit with a couple of movies but so far, it blows my old Nakamichi Shockwafe SSE system out of the water in terms of ease of use and immersion. I got the HT-A9 and subwoofer used off eBay for a much lower price and so far no problems with connectivity or sound cutting out. Films like Jurassic Park and Goldeneye sounded awesome with it. I personally use the sytem with Immersive AE, Auto Sound and Voice setting all on as I felt that sounded the best. The phantom center is pretty good but sounds a little vague especially when music in a movie is blaring so I found the Voice setting to be an improvement.
I previously tried the Samsung HW-Q990C and ended up not liking it as I found it too loud, hard to set up and use, the remote was lousy and the display was almost impossible to see. I returned to Amazon and got my money back. The HT-A9 so far I can definitely recommend it.

    Vizio M512a-H6 (great value)

    Q990C (awesome price value)
    Sonos Arc (great, but overpriced)
Bose Ultra (best for dialogue, but overpriced and without a sub)

I’ve had the Vizio 51ax-J6 for over a year & it’s perfect for the size of bedroom I have. Sure the M512A-H6 is the better Atmos soundbar since it has upfiring speakers whereas the one I have does not, the main difference is the width of it. The 51ax-J6 is perfect for my dresser since it’s only measured 2 inches less in width than the soundbar. The M512A-H6 would’ve been overkill & wouldn’t be a great Atmos experience overall again due to the size of my bedroom & the width of it on top of my dresser.
I also bought the Samsung Q990C back in July for the living room & MAN it is A BIG GAME CHANGER!!!! I love every bit of the soundbar in every way! It’s the best complete setup when it comes to everything you want out of a surround package that has every audio file possible.
Overall, I’m proud of the sound systems I have in my bedroom as well as the living room! 😌✌🏻

I picked the Sony HT 5000 soundbar over the 7000.
I think that it's a great choice for apartments and the fact that you can add the optional speakers at a later date is appealing. I'm surprised you didn't give an honorable mention to this soundbar.
    Great video.

Exactly what I went for, as I didn’t need the extra wide girth of the A7000 and I got the A5000 on sale some months ago for about $700 at Best Buy. I was fine with the soundbar by itself for that time, but last month Best Buy also had the SW3 sub and the RS3S surrounds for a heavy open box discount that I only paid about $300 for them altogether and they made a huge difference in sound quality.
My main draw with A5000 was it was the only soundbar in the price range I was looking for with full HDMI 2.1 passthrough (and with the recent FW update added VRR and ALLM compatibility) for my gaming needs. Afaik no other soundbar available aside from maybe LG’s most recent offerings have that compatibility.

I also live in an apartment, and have been very happy with the A7000.
It served me well for 6 months until I decided to flesh it out with the sub and rears. The fact the rears are battery powered works super well in a small apartment.
After watching Caleb’s list above, I still reckon the Sony A5000/A7000 systems are the best you’ll do in most apartments.

Vizio 2.1 SB36An-F6 is the equivalent to Vizio M213 ad-K8 with Dolby True HD. I won't give your room a Doom Effect. This is a great sound bar as a starter or having in a bedroom. Having bass speakers it's really cool. It doesn't beat 5" subwoofers but does play great sound and music for what you get.

That won't be for a few years (maybe a while longer). By the time a new sound bar by Sony comes out the HT-A7000 would be lowered in price or discontinued.
