I love that this video was in two parts and we got to see the fly in action. I think it would be cool to see you do a fly tying challenge video. Put a bunch of material in a bag and pull three out blind, then you gotta try to catch something with whatever random fly you tie.
Absolutely awesome video, Alvin! I like that we got to see that bitty in action! Cant stand it when you take your time to make em and a newbie snags the fly waaaay up in an overhead limb lol!! Keep up the great work!
I live on a well known largemouth lake on the Oregon coast. I fish both conventional bass tackle and flies. I tied this up in olive with black eyes and fished it the other day. This was the first time a fly outfished my baitcast setups. Will be tying up some of your poppers next. Cheers.
I have enjoyed watching all of your down and dirty guide fly's, clearly shows you don't have to be an expert fly tier to tye flies that will for sure catch some fish. Great job sir.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishinggood deal, I figured there must have been a reason for not using the schlappen. I’m going to tie some up and fish them up here in middle Tennessee.
I kind of forgot about this one!
I MISS THE OLD INTRO!!! LOL! CUZ U "TELL THE GOOD JOKES!!!" 🤣
It will be back! This video was already long enough.

I might have to give that a try. I can make a fly out of anything! 😂
Would love to see a “revisit” to the “Dedeaux Popper,” and a fishing sample later this Spring!
Such a great fly…
From Vise to Bass…5 mins!!! In the pond behind the house. Thanks!!
Hell yeah!
Love the leech/worm style flies for bass. I’ll have to whip up a few similar and try them out on some northern waters.
Good luck!

Subscribed. Enjoyed your tying and showing in action type video. I’m new to fly fishing and it’s bit me bad! 😂. Can’t watch these enough.
Thanks for being here!

Just found you - love fly fishing for bass - great video
Glad you are here!
I gotta give this one a go! Nice video look forward to some more tight lines!
It's a good one.
Love flies that are simple to tie. Can’t fish in the winter here but this fly should work well for deeper summer fish.
Let me know how it works for you.
I will 😊
Great concept, simple, quick to tie and effective.
Glad you like it!
Yes Sir.. awesome fly for the box and awesome bass
Thanks 👍
Love seeing the fly in action! Will definitely catch them anywhere
Yeah we had a good day out there especially for mid winter.
Another great video thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
great vid and fun to watch. Great instructions.
Thanks!
Another great video with right now content. I have tied many of your flies tied in my box and this will be another.
Good luck and let me know how they work for you.
That sure is some dirty water that day. Are you dragging low and slow?
Is there any advantage to the worm hook or could you also use something like a larger B10S?
Probably not. I just had them and was trying to make something that resembled a rubber worm.
If you were to add some flash, in what step would you ty it in? Before the hackle or after?
Where can I get that hat brother, great tie, simple...I gotta lot of ewg hooks from back when I need to use up...haha
It might be for sale on the Yeti website one of these days?
Just bought my first fly tying kit
Have fun!
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing yessir!!! Gonna be fishing Dedeaux flies all up and down the Brazos
Simple lure I just got an 8wt so I need get some sinking line and tie some
Good luck!
You are a much more experienced tyer than I am, but have you tried using schlappen feathers instead of saddle hackle?
Yes I have and you are right that would have been better, but I just used what I had at the house.

Thanks for all you do
Thanks for being here!
I tied this up and I'm really happy with the result... But I have no idea what kind of technique/speed to use. Do you have any examples of that?
I have had the best luck fishing it deep and really slow. Pretty much dragging it on the bottom.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing ok awesome. I'll try that next time I'm out. I didn't lose it today, so the weed guard worked well!! Thank you sir!
I bet a tarantula brush could have similar results to the hackle. Eric Estrada uses that stuff a ton 😂
I bet that would work. I say use what you got.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing yep! Substituting materials is what makes fly tying more interesting
How well do the weed guards work?
Pretty well on this one. We had 1 with and 1 without on the boat that day and the 1 without hung up a lot more.
Nice. Not enough “weedless” subsurface flies out there
Do tell cause your boy is struggling out here 😂
Give it a try, got to get deep and go sloooooow right now.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Looks like a rough representation of a Hellgramite. Giggle giggle giggle 😅
Is anyone tying these to sell? Would love to try them but I don't have tying equipment nor do i need another expensive hobby
Nice, love it😉👍
Thanks Jim!
Sweet fly!
Love it
Thank you!
Whats up? Then not wait for answer 😢
Great looking fly!
Thanks!
Very fishy!
Thanks!
