- How to Tie the Half and Half When You Want to Catch the Big Ones.
The Half and Half is a great fly to catch bigger fish. It is the combination of a Clouser Minnow and a Deceiver (or maybe a Seaducer) The Half and Half creates a bigger profile in a fly that is not too hard to cast. It is also an easy fly to tie.

When a Clouser just isn't big enough!
tying a few of these when I get home! Boss made me stop tying at the office! LOL
😂
Could you do a series of the flies you tie and test them out on the water? I feel like it would be awesome to see.
I’m alway looking to catch the big one Alvin . Awesome looking bug very bassy.
You and me both!
Nice simple tie. Going to tie some up for bass and gar
Good luck!
Thanks for another great guide fly!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice! Subscribed and gonna tie some of these puppies up tonight!
Awesome! Thank you!
Fantastic ! My Favorite fly. I just subscribed to your channel.cheers!
Thank you 👍
Like how you made a body by wrapping the flash material.
Just using what I had laying around.
Definitely gonna use these for stripers this spring. Thanks.
Have fun!
Love the simplicity in materials. Going to give this one a shot in the Keys next week!
Good luck!

Love your vids! Thanks for passing along such great info! Blessings from Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River, my friend!
Thanks for watching!
late to the party on this but very happy with this video this fly does not get the attention it deserves i have taken many large smallmouth in SE Ohio rivers with a classic chartreuse and white half and half and also a tan and white variation; I like the limited amount of flash in your creation I am a big advocate of the school “less is more” when it comes to flashy materials those big fish know
great video - thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Great Video! I like your practical approach to tying!
Thank you!
Love the tying videos! I just got my first vise and can't wait to get started. Definitely will be tying these flies for NE OK fishing!
Glad you like them! Good luck out there,
Awesome video 👍.. always fun to watch your videos.. keep it up
Thank you so much 😁
Do you ever tie flies for trout? I would like to see a series of trout guide flies.
I haven't really tied any trout flies in a while.
Hey man, I like your style. Sub'd.
Thanks for the sub!
Thank you for that fun fact. I knew that a fish used it colors as camo, but I did not know how it works
Glad I could help!
This fly caught my first musky. 48.5 in
I would think the Micro Dragon Tail would be great here for adding a big dollop of wiggly action without the wet weight of rabbit strip. Also, I saw this material from the garment industry that is made to be artificial animal fur, like chinchilla and what not. It might make for good tailing.
I have tried the Dragon tail, they work great, but don't last very long.
Love it!!!!
Thank you!
I'm confused... It looks like you put lighter on top and darker on bottom. Does the weight of the eyes cause the hook to face up when in the water or do you have to tie it onto the leader a certain way?
Yes the weighted eyes make it ride hook point up. Also helps it hang up less.
Thought you were taking some time off , and here you R tying flies and watching fishing videos in the background . Do you always tie both the strung hackle feathers in on the same side ? Olive and white can’t go wrong , nice tie :-)
Ha ha, can't just sit around. When I was tying it I couldn't tell they were on the same side. I don't think the fish will care though.
Hi Alvin , no they don’t , otherwise they would be eating us :-)
Enjoyed your videos, but what of your flies do you recommend for saltwater fishing....?
Clouser Minnow ruclips.net/video/EMCaSoBR17U/видео.html Seaducer ruclips.net/video/LSWPaSBZWyg/видео.html AD Krab ruclips.net/video/S_C3QOTX0G8/видео.html half and half ruclips.net/video/44gKS_0CnDw/видео.html
Hi Alvin. What weight are the eyes? I am tying clousers with eyes weighing 1.7 grams. Is that to heavy to cast with an 8 wt?
Down and dirty but im shure it will catch just as many fish as more complex flies.
Looks anorexic af! Love the aussie r&d and the revision of this fly!
