  • How to Tie the Half and Half When You Want to Catch the Big Ones.
    The Half and Half is a great fly to catch bigger fish. It is the combination of a Clouser Minnow and a Deceiver (or maybe a Seaducer) The Half and Half creates a bigger profile in a fly that is not too hard to cast. It is also an easy fly to tie.

    Could you do a series of the flies you tie and test them out on the water? I feel like it would be awesome to see.

    late to the party on this but very happy with this video this fly does not get the attention it deserves i have taken many large smallmouth in SE Ohio rivers with a classic chartreuse and white half and half and also a tan and white variation; I like the limited amount of flash in your creation I am a big advocate of the school “less is more” when it comes to flashy materials those big fish know

    I would think the Micro Dragon Tail would be great here for adding a big dollop of wiggly action without the wet weight of rabbit strip. Also, I saw this material from the garment industry that is made to be artificial animal fur, like chinchilla and what not. It might make for good tailing.

    I'm confused... It looks like you put lighter on top and darker on bottom. Does the weight of the eyes cause the hook to face up when in the water or do you have to tie it onto the leader a certain way?

    • @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing
      @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing  3 года назад +1

      Yes the weighted eyes make it ride hook point up. Also helps it hang up less.

    Thought you were taking some time off , and here you R tying flies and watching fishing videos in the background . Do you always tie both the strung hackle feathers in on the same side ? Olive and white can’t go wrong , nice tie :-)

    • @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing
      @AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing  3 года назад +1

      Ha ha, can't just sit around. When I was tying it I couldn't tell they were on the same side. I don't think the fish will care though.

      Hi Alvin , no they don’t , otherwise they would be eating us :-)

    Hi Alvin. What weight are the eyes? I am tying clousers with eyes weighing 1.7 grams. Is that to heavy to cast with an 8 wt?

    Down and dirty but im shure it will catch just as many fish as more complex flies.
