- How to tie a Seaducer
This is the latest fly in my down and dirty guide fly series. The Seaducer is a great fly pattern that has been around forever. I have used the Seaducer to catch bass, redfish, speckled trout and many other fish in fresh and salt water. The best thing about the Seaducer is it is one of the easiest flies to tie. It also catches fish. Pretty much everything you need in a guide fly.

Another classic guide fly.
Seems the temptation is to add more to our flies. Its a real challenge to go simpler.
Keep simplifying until all thats left is just what the fish want.
Thanks Alvin
Well said!
How is this guy not WAY more famous? Great content. Most of my flies were too fancy. I've simplified many into copies of Alvin's and they're faster, easier, and still catch fish. Thank you for these videos.
Thank you for all your great content. Tied three of your “guide” flies this Sunday and caught fish on two of them that same afternoon. As a beginner fly fisherman and fly maker, these have helped me tremendously!
Great to hear!
Alvin is awesome
You always make fly tying look so easy.
It is pretty easy if I can do it. 😂
Love that vise
Me too!
This has been a big hit in the fly fishing club here in San Diego CA and I have put this to the test! Thanks for the video, appreciate it a lot!!!
Hey thanks a ton for watching!
Hands down my favorite fly guy
Actually my favorite fly to cast for reds!
Been using it a lot lately.
Salty seaducer is my handle on microskiff. It's just so easy to cast with a good profile in the water.
Your so blessed, I wish I was able to do what you do. Perhaps when I retire in 5 I'll begin my guiding career...lol One can dream.
Nice tie! I am going to tie some of these up for an upcoming saltwater trip.
Good luck!
That's great get some
Love all your videos! Want to see more saltwater as well!
Thanks! Will do!
Can't wait for more. Love the guide flies. Will be trying this one soon!
Good luck!
You are the man Alvin. Thank you
Hey thanks for wartching.
I’ve tied all your flies in the guide series. Been fly fishing and tiring for about 4 months now and I’m loving it. Haven’t been skunked on any of the patterns 👍🏼
Awesome! Glad they are working for you!
Love all simplicity but this does not mean ineffective indeed! I'm sure it give excellent results on fishes.
I dream to try it soon in my waters here in Italy.
Thanks a lot for all you do for me and for all yours followers my far Friend
Thanks for watching and good luck over there.
As always, Alvin, great tie! I'll bet that this will catch striped bass!
It will for sure!
Hands down, favorite fly and favorite color.
A true classic for a reason.
Awesome stuff as always!
Thanks Travis!
Can't wait until spring!
I'm with you on that one.
Nice easy tie , like them with tail splayed for pike . Amazing how long some of these patterns have been around , I guess that because the catch fish 🐟
Yup, if is a classic for a reason.
Been tying and fishing these in chartreuse and white for about a year, and having great luck with large mouth bass. Great fly.
I'm going to tie up some of those as well.
Nice one..Thanks Alvin! Tail’s like a Lefty Deceiver, one of my favorite flys. This is much quicker. I’ll wrap some up! 👍 Happy holidays to you and your family buddy! 🎣✌️🎄
Thanks and good luck with these,
Thank you, i loved it,
Glad you enjoyed it!
Super nice thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
dude, so awesome, Have a merry Christmas, stay safe hug your family my friend!
Same to you!
Thanks !
who cares if there's some fluff left or the feathers are not perfectly aligned or with the right angle? Good-looking flies on the vise not necessarily are the ones that look good to the fish who couldn't care less if there are two or three wings on each side. Keep going buddy, even if you are not EP (thank God), you are doing a great job. wish you thousands of subscribers
Thanks 👍
One of my favorite trout flies in shallow water. You can add eyes or a little lead to the shank too to get it down a bit.
I have a few with eyes on them, bead chain and lead.
I'm in the 'flared out' camp
I might have to try it the other way but it does seem weird.
I will use for Pike!
The red and white is a classic color for pike, at least that's what I hear.
Awesome fly. I've been looking for a pattern to mimic the old daredevil spoons for pickerel around here. I'm going to have to tie a few of these up
Let me know how they work.
I liked it three times 👍👍👍. Although mine looks nothing like that. What the heck.
Anyways, keep it up! I’ll be watching
They will get better,
It’s a beautiful effective fly. My favorite. Even when it’s tied clumsily and pronounced incorrectly. Pronounced SEE-Deucer. That’s why it’s spelled SEA…
Love these videos, thanks! I'm always intrigued by your bobbin, looks comfy. Where can one find one of those to try out?
Nevermind, found the answer below. I'd like to solve this mystery!
Total beginner here - would love to see how you fish this...action, leader rigging, what type of situations you throw it in etc. great bud though - thank you!
Great suggestion!
Hello Sir. Love your videos. Curious as to what fly vice that is. Thank You
Thank you! It is an old Abel vise.
This fly is great for jack crevalle
Love the videos. Do you add weight to this fly while fishing it?
Most of the time if I am using it for redfish in shallow water I don't weight it. If I want to get deep for bass I throw them on a sinking line.
Hey Alvin! Love your videos here in San Antonio. Could you tell me what kind of bobbin that is?
The only markings on it says Chase Boston. I have 2 that I've had for over 20 years. The both cracked though. The white part is epoxy.
Awesome vid man! What vise do you tie with btw?
Thanks, it is an old Abel vise from the 90s.
Great video! I like the vise, looks very unique. What kind of vise is it?
That is an old Abel vise.
I didn't realize they used to make vises. Looks like they stopped making them before I got into flyfishing and flytying. Such a cool piece of American craftsmanship!
@@sean-nola Yeah I think it's around 20 years old. Actually signed by Steve Abel and numbered.
What type of bobbin do you use? Looks super comfortable in the hand
I really don't know i's 20 years old.
I'd tie that on 4/0 with flash for flounder up here in Delaware Bay
Would u reccomend the Redding crosswater combo for largemouth and smallmouth bass ?
I'm not familiar with that combo.
Ok thanks 🙂👍
Great fly what kind of Bobbin are you using
I've had those bobbins for 20 years now. I have no clue what brand they are.
I have a couple. They say Chase- Boston on them. I was scrolling through hoping I could find out the history of them!
Chase bobbins. They have some on the bay
Are you putting the hackle on concave side facing the eye or convex side facing the eye?
These saddle hackles are pretty flat, so I don't think it will make much difference. If they did, I would probably put them on so that they curved back toward the point of the hook.
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing Thanks Alvin. Great fly and great video.
Hi Alvin, do you ever tie Seducers on a bendback hook?
No if I want them to be weedless I add a weedguard.
Good Morning Sir
I love your NO BULL aproch to tying.
I dont get to tie as ofton as I like.
I need your advice looking for aplace that sells a asst pack of barred hackel if their is such a thing///fixed income-...
Thank you for listening.
John C'
Nice fly. Looks like a Woolly Bugger on Steroids. I bet that would be good for Pike too.
Red and white seaducer on a big hook is a go to for pike.
I would like to see the hook size and thread size.
what does the uv flashlight do?
It cures the UV head cement. It is dry in just a few seconds.
What bobbin holder is that?
does this fly suspend in the water?
It's a slow sinker. You can use a heavier hook or wrap some lead on the hook to make it sink faster. Lighter hook or more hackle will make it sink slower.
Great presentation, and technique description. Awful shiny B10S. The ones I have in hand are much more subdued.
Yeah , that was the wrong hook, it was actually a Tiemco 800 s.
Thats a hook fit for a Whale.
Yeah that one ain't gonna bend. 😂
@@AlvinDedeauxFlyFishing Aye thats why i started doing shrimps on the 811 sp for danish seatrout :) i know it's a bonefish hook. but...omg..when they bite they stay "ofc" barbless,
Why do you ask what's up? then not expect a reply. Hello is all that's reguired😢
You just replied 😂
Awesome
Thanks!
