Hey man I've been watching all your content since pre patch released and decided to try tanking for the first time. All of these videos are incredible keep it up! Skyfury has been fun af
Just macro swipe and maul into one button. You won't run out of rage when you aoe. I do it with mangle as well then use a different bind for mangle on a boss (single target).
I like ur health bar/unit frames is that a weak aura or separate addon? Great video btw I have been bear taking since og wrath love bears they are amazing!
Thank you for the video I appreciate what you do. I have to say not getting five points in Furor for that rage especially how important it is when you're opening on a pack of mobs could be the difference between a wipe and everything being okay. Also I'm not sure if you did it or not but I always demoralizing roar when I hit a pack of mobs to build threat.
Really enjoying the content. Small note on the dps set, I'm pretty sure raven goddess beats out everbloom in cat form now. No powershifting = way fewer shreds and idol crit is now +40
Should have mentioned that survival instincts + Frenzied regen combo together because one increases max health and one scales off max health. (Both have 3 min cd as well)
hey! i actually try to use them separately to stagger them on a hard pull but in absolutely dangerous moments, both at the same time can definitely be beneficial
I dropped Engi for JC/Ench in p4 since the only real reason to keep it was to throw adamantine grenades pre pull for AoE packs (since others range is to small and you'd pull out of form) then pray the DPS would let me build threat on massive mobs in TBC, that happened basically never so it seemed pointless to keep once the gear wasn't worth it anymore
The concept I think you're talking about is called paging. I use bartender, but any action bar addon can do it. When a modifier like alt, shift, or Ctrl are pressed OR you change stances (forms), it can page an action bar (bar 4 for instance) and replace it with the main bar (bar 1) so your one bar can change based on those conditions, allowing for a simpler UI. Hope that clears it up. I'll discuss it in my UI vid I'm working on
Have you tried paladin tanking? I know you like bears but I’m curious if you went to the dark side and still found bear tanking fun. I was watching ScottyJ’s stream with his green geared paladin sprinting through heroic SP with a lock doing crazy aoe dps and zero threat issues at all. They didn’t have to wait for him to build threat or anything. As a bear tank I don’t get to experience paladin tanks too much but it explains why locks are such a pain in the ass to run with. Paladins.
I've played both. They're both fun in different ways. The only real downside to paladins I found is still mana. They don't have mana issues in a fight, but before a boss, they have to stop and drink and their prepull ritual is like 4 gcds. Bears just go. Their AOE is strong for sure. Play what you enjoy and you'll be happier for it
I’ve always considered prot warrior to be the absolute best tank for farming dungeons and holding AoE threat on trash, etc. They also have the best damage output/threat and mobility of the four too. Each tank offers something different and has it’s own strengths and weaknesses. Where Paladins really shine is for pushing single-target bosses that do a lot of damage. Both DK and Paladin are the best boss tanks for taking spike damage and doing heroic difficulty bosses. DK is the best tank for taking large individual hits, because they have a talent that reduces the damage of a single hit before it would kill them. Paladin’s talent works a little differently, their talent prevents damage that would kill them *after* they are reduced to low-life. Like surviving the fire ticks of damage from Mimiron hard mode. Bear druids are entirely unique from the others. I’d argue they are the single-best off-tank due to their utility and versatility. They can swap forms to dps or heal in combat. But the Druid is very strong both early and late game due to two things: natural defense rating and stamina/armor scaling. In T7, Bears don’t need to worry about getting defense rating, giving them more room to stack stamina and avoidance. In T10, bears and dks both have a stamina/armor % modifier that allows their health and armor to scale much higher than Paladin and DK. When you get into ICC, the only defenses that matter are stamina, armor and magic resistance which is provided by raid auras. You can’t rely on avoidance due to the ICC nerf to dodge/parry, so you have pad your health as high as you can and rely on your defensive cooldowns to prevent spike damage phases.
@@brandonkruse6412 I played prot warrior in original Wrath but I forget the details except that I liked tanking dungeons a lot with him. I’m probably going to just level up every tank and give them all a try.
@griften as a new druid player can you confirm what flight forms are available in pre patch at which level and how they are obtained. I'm currently 45 and on the grind but can't find any useful details about it
the flight forms are now learned at the class trainer. you will need fast flight for the swift flight form. Tvh, I dont know the levels you learn them at, but i guess the slow flight form can be learned at either 58 or 60.
Hey Griftin, im a BC Tank now struggling with my Cat rotation (at times where I am not needed). Can you make a video about it? At the moment I deal that I make way more damage as a bear than a cat…am I doing it wrong?
Bear tanks in amazing, forget what people say about them being a lesser tank in wrath- I just tanked the storm wind king in pvp gear and blues! Very fun class to play
@@CombatMedic1O your smokin crack lol, use the Glyph for Maul so it attacks 2 targets which can be 2-4k damage each while you spam swipe which causes 600 per hit, Bears are the best in damage
I'm currently in a mix of nax and pre bis (everything at 200il+) with survival instinct un-glyphed I'm already hitting 51k. I can believe that by the time we hit IC someone could get close to 100k.
I only have 3/5 in that talent, just pull with FF. The second you get hit you have enough rage to start maul > swipe. If someone does pull aggro of one mob just target it, growl then mangle, you'll get the aggro back. For single target I just always start with enrage regardless of if i get the extra 10, the only time i wouldn't is if I know a boss hits particularly hard at the start of a fight ( even then I probably still will and will just also use barkskin).

Thank you! I've been fretting about trying tanking because it seems high pressure, but this video helps!
This is the video I’ve been ready for! Thanks Griftin!

Hi Griftin! You think darmoon card greatness should agi should be picked up for feral tanking? Some online bis lists have then as best for threat
Yeah, for threat yeah. But I definitely think you can live without it
Yeah the only differences I'm seeing in bear is the handy stuff they let us throw in form now...definitely an improvement

Just an added note. It also beats emerald queen for resto now hehe
I cant get the WeakAura to show up next to the nameplates? is it just import and play?
Yup! Be in a group ;)

Yup!

Can youo link your talent spec shown in video?
Very great content. Also how do you swap the abilites when swapping forms? Is it some special addon or is it through weakauras?

Where did you get that weakaura that shows threat lead on mob frames
check the description
i thought you only use mangle once every minute , because that is how long the bleed lasts. Is mangle meant to be spammed off cooldown? I
As a cat, mangle is only meant to be applied for the CD, but bears, it's their big threat and should be spammed off cd

It's hard to tank at lvl 18 how do I hold agro I'm doing dead mines btw

Hop in my discord (link in description) and the community will get you all the answers. There's a lot to cat in wrath. The struggle is real
Keep the bleeds up...kitty wont be awesome till we can get a couple more levels in wrath

I feel like they have a harder time in AOE pulls for fast runs. Like the threat is not on par with other tanks when it comes to snap threat.

If that 10 rage is so important I may not get improved mark of the wild which is sad but better to have faster agro on the pull.
It's only important for a fresh pull. If you're chain pulling, rage isn't an issue

ur wicked smart m8!
or just rage before you pul :D
Spiders, rats etc... are useful for this, FF them to stay in combat if group needs a big drink, after they started drinking ofc
