Prot warrior is the most fun tank by far : - As a defensive tank, it is the most challenging of tanking specs but also the most rewarding. You have to play much more intensively and use a lot of abilities to keep threat but it works well. You also have to rely more on CC's and stuns than other tanks as you have less CD's, but you do have a lot of stuns to compensate. - As a dps-oriented tanking spec it is the best by far. With some changes to your spec (vengeance spec) or your gear (going for both arpen and def cap) you can pump some real dps numbers (and get huuuge threat), while tanking well enough if your healers can manage your squishiness. - Did I mention double charge, intervention and sunder ? - As a pvp spec it is hilarious, especially with endgame gear, you go for maximum arpen no resilience and you go around stunning and 2-shotting everything. Second would be bear. Best tank for kiting stuff and going around pulling huge packs. There is also a dps potential here, but more as a feral dps using bear form to offtank some stuff on the side, bear doesn't really do that much damage except on some niche fights. DK and prot paladin are both great but you can tell their kit is supposed to be effective rather than fun to play. If you want to be reliable a tank that does clean pulls and never dies, those two are great, but I'd get bored playing them.
Warrior is the most fun tank to watch when played correctly, it's also the easiest to tell when someone is messing it up just by looking. it involves a bit more work to hold aoe threat than a paladin obviously. My personal favorite is the death knight for a reason you did not specify, you can tank as frost, blood or unholy if you wish, all different playstyles. You can even duel wield tank if you choose to, although I haven't seen anyone do it at a high level.
god I remember how beautiful it was in WOTLK when that paladin talent that turns STR into SP was stamina instead. just wear full pvp holy gear and you had SP three times that of actual caster dps or healers.
100%. Paladin may be better, but Warrior is more fun. And if you can successfully tank as a warrior you're showing two things - you're a good tank, and your healer is great too. And you'll be chasing the DPS meters on overall damage too!
Pala tanks having mana isnt an issue at all considering there is a talent which gives you 5/10% of the healing received as mana and they regenerate nonstop themselves with divine plea that is active for 15 seconds and gets refreshed every time he hits an enemy
Yes but it happened sometimes when you didnt make it to the next group of mobs in 15 seconds then you lost your divine plea for that pack and being a geared tank actually caused you to not take enough damage to sustain your mana in dungeons. Wasn't game breaking or anything, maybe a bit annoying at most but I remeber it happened in dungeons.
I tanked everything in Wrath. I continued this trend with Monk and DH. I agree Warrior #1. I put DK second. Druid third. Solid list. Great video. Love this content. I don't see myself playing Wrath again but am excited to see how it goes for people.
Always happy to get content but the warrior portion of the video felt a bit shallow. Your reasoning seemed to be based more on appeal to class fantasy than gameplay. Nothing wrong with that (you do a bit of that for all classes after all), but I would have liked to hear you talk more about gameplay beyond just listing out warrior abilities and saying how cool they are. Also, someone else has already brought this up, but you fail to mention any of the warrior tanks' weaknesses. Warriors being the squishiest of the tanks doesn't really line up with the class fantasy aspect that you've been putting forward. It's cool to see a video pumping up prot warriors but there was such a jarring disconnect between the warrior section and every other class featured.
"Weakness" of warrior tanks is a subjective term that is misleading. When WotLK was LIVE back in the day warrior tanks were competitive, and preferred on certain heroic encounters like Anubarak. The data shows that all tanks fall within +/- 2% of each other. So similar geared it becomes a matter of skill, game knowledge and healers working with you. Warriors and paladins in magic damage heavy fights are at a disadvantage, while DKs rotate cds and the druid hopes their health bar holds up. Is that the weakness you were referring to? Warriors are the most mobile tanks with 3 dashes, good aoe threat and highest dps with their armor pen scaling, those are their strengths. They also have a raid physical dps buff with shattering throw. The warrior community on classic are very good at what they do even if they are "weak" they figure it out and earn their spots in raids. The video was about "fun" and warrior tanking feels intuitive, good and fun even if it's "weak".

He presents the potential downsides of every other class in this video and even goes more in depth about what tanking feels like on those classes on a gameplay level. Would've been great if he mentioned more of what you said. My criticism is that his coverage of warrior was shallow, not that warriors are weak.
If you have access to a level 60+ warrior when the pre-patch goes live spec into prot, look up the macros (yes they are needed) and bash around with for a couple hours. Cause Prot is kinda ass before 60. Or try it on one of *those* servers.
As a huge fan of DKs, I can respect that. Runes and runic power aren't for everyone. I personally enjoy that "ability dance" rotation. And, TBF, solo target tanking really is just spam Icy Touch and know when to pop your survival CDs, aside from Vampiric Blood, which you want as high uptime as possible on this one.
I agree. Druids are the #1 choice for off tanks. So many fights only need 1 tank or only need a 2nd tank for short durations. Every group should want a Pally/Warrior/DK MT and a Druid OT.
Warriors have the highest skill ceiling and are quite fun to play, between charge and intervene you can run around the raid grabbing adds. with the change to revenge and thunderclap they are DPS beasts. a good warrior tank is a beauty to watch
Unholy and Frost tanks will actually tend to focus more on mitigation than Blood tanks. If you don't like the spiky, self-heal gameplay style, the other specs feel smoother while still keeping the reaction based playstyle of DKs in general!
Once again - SPOT ON! You chose Demo Lock as most fun dps spec (and it was my main in vanilla and will be my main in Wrath Classic), Holy Priest as most fun healer (not an expert on healing but I would probably play either a Holy Priest or a Resto Shaman if I did play one) and now Warrior as most fun tank (and imo that is absolutely the case). Yes, it's all subjective but it feels good having an expert like you on the same page as I am :)
check out rested xp if you want to level fast… or at least as fast as everyone else with rested xp! lol so crazy how many content creators are backing that addon. it’s really cool honestly.
It's all relative to what you do as a player. The versatility of the Prot paladin and the Self reliable DK is by far my most anticipated classes to try out. they excel at not just raiding and dungeons, but also have massive solo capabilities that gets wider for each raid upgrade, so you can actually feel like a true MMO champion. Some people just like to run some dungeons pack-by-pack and then raid, which i would agree a warrior can absolutely be fun for especially with the addition of the Revenge main-tank specc for easier content. I honestly do not see great uses for druids except the ability to solo razorgore in bwl and niche stuff like that
Couldnt't disagree more about paladin being second. The only "fun" thing about the paladin is how damn OP you are, they have annoying buffs to maintain that if you don't you go oom, and they don't have much of a feel to them when tanking. Feels like a checklist and then you're invincible. Druid is far more fun with charge, and DK with deathgrip.
Agree. Paladin tanking was so boring in wotlk. Back in the day I just remember doing the 96969 rotation. No thinking involved, you just could blindly spam whichever ability was off CD and you could tank everything.

I was much less secure in my skills back then, and took a lot of solace in the Paladin tanking rotation being dead-ass simple. I remember one of the most annoying things about Paladin tanking was that I didn’t have an ability for snap-aggro at any given time. Hammer of Righteousness and judgement having such long cooldowns meant I very often had nothing to follow up a taunt with to secure a mob. I’ve been very happy with my TBC warrior and always having a button to press instead of needing to wait all the time. Granted, that comes with the downside of absolute struggles for AoE threat. But shit, at least warrior tanking has *never* been BORING!
Warrior main since I started in Wrath, played prot from wrath till mop where i mostly started to focus on pvp, it's a lot of fun but I enjoy all classes when tanking (past expansions atleast) :D

I love my Druid because the most fun part of the game is not losing out on Tank loot. Let the others fight for Plate while I get prioed all the leather lol.
I think you underestimate the value of being able to dabble in 3 whole tanking specs as DK. They might not all be tier 1 but they're all viably defensive in heroics and have awesome threat profiles.

I find it interesting that for DPS, you found that critical thinking is regarded highly in terms of fun (ie Fire Mage and Frost DK) but for Tank, the quick-thinking nature and decision making of a Blood DK, you don't find fun. Just an interesting thought I had.

Before I watch the vid I will say hands down the Paladin. The pally and wrath were built for each other. I soloed a lot of group quests with it back in the day. Was also great for soling older content. I had so much fun with it and I cant wait to do it again.
I agree with your order, war tanking was a ton of fun but they feel a lil squish as a raid tank to me blood dk I didn't like cause it felt like a "This or That" tank where the others can do "This and That" idk if that makes sense to others lol. Bears are cool cause of the massive amounts of hp they get. Paladins just have a response to everything
I personally played paladin on so many privs (mainly warmane) but seeing how everyone plays it so pugging is out of question so i gave up on playin tank in tbc to wrath i decided to stick to my Enhancemt allthough i have found myslef enjoying protection warrior a ton
Enh Shaman IMO is the most fun to tank with. I have one and people don't think it's possible but with the % stam talent and all the aoe and survivability perks like MW insta cast heals n CL you don't really need a taunt. Using 2H only makes it even more satisfying. Ret tank with RF is rly good too in RDF.
I turned down pally to go bear. Bear is better for me because I can tank and dps with the same build. Dual build would be less bear talents to pick up Primal Tenacity and Furor for PVP. Pally tank is no slouch in PVP though. Prot war slaps in PVP too.
Not only are all 3 tanks specs are viable 3.3.5, Frost tank (23/40/8) will by far out perform Blood tanking until late ToC or ICC. Most people are stuck seeing DK tanking as Blood because of the changes in Cata+ but back in ICC the first go around almost all the tanking was done by 23/40/8 Frost spec for DKs. It should also be noted that Blood spec tanking is by far the least FUN DK tank spec.
@@slappyosis I found blood boring tank or dps. Unholy was my favorite and then frost. I tanked in all three, but I recall some decent nerfs to unholy tank after nax or ulduar and made it undesirable. I think I also was leveling the 3 other tanks so She got less love. Still sitting in her T7 on retail actually.
@@vaels5682 The only thing blood tanking offers that frost does not is 3.25% more effective health in the best case scenario. This comes at a cost of worse mitigation overall and you give up the ability to use 2x last Laugh which means frost gets about 1% bonus health from using them over Betrayer of Humanity. So in the end blood is giving you about 2.25% more EH at the cost of worse overall mitigation. Meanwhile a druid with the same level of gear will have about 10% higher EH than any DK and a paladin will have about 2% higher EH and be a better tank in just about every way. So if you think tanking Ulduar 25hm as Frost is a terrible idea then you also think tanking it as Blood is a terrible idea.
I played disci priest at top end raiding and as gladiator in every season in wotlk and most seasons in tbc, but at the end of actual wotlk me and 9 friends made a 10 man raid team and i tanked as prot paladin and loved it + prot pala was great in pvp at the time. I intend on still playing my disci priest for pvp solely to get those glad titles again but i intend on maining a prot pala for pve, however i have my 70 priest but i dont have a paladin, should i buy the dark portal pass (as i never bought it so its still avail for me) and lvl from 58-70 so im ready or should i hold off? im abit worried i havnt heard anything about the level 70 boost yet. Any advice would be massively appreciated.
Can give you feedback on that. On p1 aoe tanking is really hard. If there are more than 3-5 mobs you are starting to lose aggro in dungeons and also for the raids p1 is not offering good gears towards to feral tanks but scaling was always what the ferals are best at it so in ToC and ICC nothing can stop pala and druid tank
Not having played a warrior past level 10... i cant comment on warriors. I have tried max level druid tanks. I'll be honest, i kind felt it was sorta boring. There never seemed to be any... 'feeling' to when you hit the boss. I cant explain it, but the sound, visual effects and character animation never felt like it had power behind it. Power the druid does have. And DK's... to be honest, it felt weird playing one as a DPS... but even weirder to tank with it. The blows felt good.. but i really felt it did better and felt better as a DPS than a tank. And i am biased as I've played a paladin tank for way longer than any of the others.
I know what you mean. Something about having a shield that screams 'I'm a tank yo.' Warriors, while no longer my favorite tank, definitely have a more hard-core feel to them than one wielding a 2 handed sword.

@@Kamion991 well warrior tank has 1 job on buffed content and that's max block build to tank Anub HC thrash. Also meta is in pservers playing best classes for that role so you can overcome buffed content. My little warrior tank friend was having hard time tanking KT but meanwhile when he was not in raid I was solo tanking most of the raid and that includes KT 25 man. Boss + 4 adds. Such an easy time with pala
@@Scottejaye It's funny people still think Prot Pally got the best AOE threat. As of pre-patch, that's no longer true, all tanks have about AoE threat. Prot Pally can no longer hold aggro with just consecration and holyshield. They actually have to works to get AoE threat meaning that have to tab target while using Shield of the Righteous and Hammer of Righteousness on trash pulls with more than 4 mobs.
@@LukeA471 I forget what actually changed because I quit before the patch that nerfed them, one thing was unholy blight being like a consecration that followed you for a while. I mt'd server first sarth3d as unholy, so there was probably some extra magic damage mitigation or something because I remember that being a problem. I was usually offtank anyway. I remember it being possible to get enough avoidance to have near 100% uptime on damage mitigation rotating between bone shield and IBF.
100% this unholy was awesome for tanking. Also miss when death and decay had a 50% chance to fear for 2 seconds when glyphed. Would be great if dk could be that broken again for a few months
You can tell who doesn't PVP because they have feral on bottom for fun lul. Feral is giga dumb in PVP, like you can't be touched 1v1 unless the other person is Pshero.
Hey bro PERFECTLY timed video haha i just opened up youtube hoping to find a wotlk tank video so thank you! Im curious if anyone can tell me if its possible to main a feral tank druid in wotlk as a casual player. ive struggled to find a guild to progress with as theyre all gdkp guilds or levelling ones and i know theres always a shortage of tanks i just dont know how easy it is to gear up and progress through content as a filthy casual. i usually get like 3 hours a day to play when i get home and maybe more at the weekends
Totally doable, you will not be the meta tank but you aren't looking for a hardcore meta guild. Have fun with it and if all else fails make your own raids
Yeah you should be fine man. You will already be crit and defense capped just through talents. You will also have the highest health pool of all tanks. If you are just playing causally druid tanks are fine to play and can be a main tank or off tank for any causal guild.
Hey Scottejaye, nice Video but with so many flaws. Fun as a Tank is also fun of getting over the encounters. For this Warrior is far worse then the other tanks on a 25 / heroic 25 base. Maybe you should give that hint in the videos as well. In the end, its your opinion and i totaly respect that. But we could argue that some ppl also try to find a detail level like sarthe or other not so well known content creators provide to get a good and well rounded perspective to these topics.
First, I’m pretty sure that most people who are planning to push heroic 25s already know that warriors are the “worst” tanks in wrath. This video isn’t about how successful you’ll be, it’s about how fun it is to play. You can dungeon tank and do 10 mans absolutely perfectly fine with a prot warrior. Second, we don’t know entirely for sure how it’s gonna go in wrath classic. Everyone expected warriors to fall off in TBC classic but they didn’t. People have been playing private servers for years, but we don’t know that they had all the numbers exactly right, and people learn and discover new stuff all the time. Everyone should play the game they want to play it. Some people want to enjoy their class and find content that matches that play style, and some people want to do the hardest content and find a class that will make it easier.
Everyone is saying prot warrior is fun but being dead on the ground come ulduar doesn’t sound fun. Also the fact your guild will prob have to bring an extra healer to keep u up is just selfish.
My experience matches his actually. I want to like DK tanking because of all the fun abilities, but you have to be so incredibly mindful of when you use them that it can be overwhelming.

What about frost tanking with that dual weird goodness? It's got the mitigation in the tree, also blood wasn't flushed out as the end all be all tank till cata. Just curious as to why frost was left out.
@@tarikhansen5966 you seem to have been misinformed. There is no "tank" spec as a Death Knight - there is a tanking presence. Going frost talents tree, is better than blood for damage and threat.
@@cemtolu4542 they can indeed be yes also DRW can also be considered a dps talent at the same time you have unbreakable armor Imp icebound fortitude and acclimation in the frost tree. So are these not tanking talents not to mention the shear amount of armor value increase and stamina. So they are both tank specs depending on how you put them together. But blood was not defined end all be all tank tree till cata released.
I found the lack of a ranged pull with bears made them less fun to tank with - avengers shield for pallies and howling blast for frost dk tanks made pulls a lot cleaner in 5 man's for those classes.
I don't agree and actually sad that not seeing the most op thing that pala has and it is Argent Defender. Pala is the best tank in whole expansion till ICC cause ferals getting so much hp and other goodies but other than that has 1 flaw on mana issue and it's Vezax. Other than that there are no tank that has more utilities + more tankiness than a paladin and I am saying this that progressed on every tank. Friendly suggestion if you thinking going hardcore with a warrior tank just don't. Even the content will be faceroll still people would prefer palas. If the fun is the thing we after I would stay paladin. While our warrior tank was having hard time on KT on buffed content I was able to solo tank KT 25 man with pala and that's so much fun.
Ok, unfair you completely gloss over druids gaining actual CDs in wrath. The whole, pretty much the same is totally half wrong. We can use items and engineering in form THIS IS HUGE, Enchants proc in form now. Leader of the pack is a crit buff for all, ranged and melee, if you didnt bring a cat, and they can now use barkskin and Survival Instincts AND Shadowmeld to kill that rogue when they get too close because they never watch threat and now have tots. Also, a Good Feral Druid+tots+hysteria+beserk+herosim=Top DPS easily...and dont forget cower and shadowmeld and bear...or you will die.

Yea they should have buffed the talent. 60% stamina is more like 100% strength. Yet it’s still 60%. Huge nerf.

I agree. Druids are the #1 choice for off tanks. So many fights only need 1 tank or only need a 2nd tank for short durations. Every group should want a Pally/Warrior/DK MT and a Druid OT.

Warriors have the highest skill ceiling and are quite fun to play, between charge and intervene you can run around the raid grabbing adds. with the change to revenge and thunderclap they are DPS beasts. a good warrior tank is a beauty to watch

Unholy and Frost tanks will actually tend to focus more on mitigation than Blood tanks. If you don't like the spiky, self-heal gameplay style, the other specs feel smoother while still keeping the reaction based playstyle of DKs in general!
I saw a warrior tank that went half arms half prot and was pulling 8k+ every aoe pull in heroics it was cray

Once again - SPOT ON! You chose Demo Lock as most fun dps spec (and it was my main in vanilla and will be my main in Wrath Classic), Holy Priest as most fun healer (not an expert on healing but I would probably play either a Holy Priest or a Resto Shaman if I did play one) and now Warrior as most fun tank (and imo that is absolutely the case). Yes, it's all subjective but it feels good having an expert like you on the same page as I am :)
check out rested xp if you want to level fast… or at least as fast as everyone else with rested xp! lol so crazy how many content creators are backing that addon. it’s really cool honestly.

It's all relative to what you do as a player. The versatility of the Prot paladin and the Self reliable DK is by far my most anticipated classes to try out. they excel at not just raiding and dungeons, but also have massive solo capabilities that gets wider for each raid upgrade, so you can actually feel like a true MMO champion.
Some people just like to run some dungeons pack-by-pack and then raid, which i would agree a warrior can absolutely be fun for especially with the addition of the Revenge main-tank specc for easier content.
I honestly do not see great uses for druids except the ability to solo razorgore in bwl and niche stuff like that

Couldnt't disagree more about paladin being second. The only "fun" thing about the paladin is how damn OP you are, they have annoying buffs to maintain that if you don't you go oom, and they don't have much of a feel to them when tanking. Feels like a checklist and then you're invincible. Druid is far more fun with charge, and DK with deathgrip.
Agree. Paladin tanking was so boring in wotlk. Back in the day I just remember doing the 96969 rotation. No thinking involved, you just could blindly spam whichever ability was off CD and you could tank everything.
@@thomasmathew13 Back in the day, that was actually the entire reason I chose to tank at all. I was much less secure in my skills back then, and took a lot of solace in the Paladin tanking rotation being dead-ass simple.
I remember one of the most annoying things about Paladin tanking was that I didn’t have an ability for snap-aggro at any given time. Hammer of Righteousness and judgement having such long cooldowns meant I very often had nothing to follow up a taunt with to secure a mob. I’ve been very happy with my TBC warrior and always having a button to press instead of needing to wait all the time. Granted, that comes with the downside of absolute struggles for AoE threat. But shit, at least warrior tanking has *never* been BORING!
Warrior main since I started in Wrath, played prot from wrath till mop where i mostly started to focus on pvp, it's a lot of fun but I enjoy all classes when tanking (past expansions atleast) :D

I think you underestimate the value of being able to dabble in 3 whole tanking specs as DK. They might not all be tier 1 but they're all viably defensive in heroics and have awesome threat profiles.
Prot Warrior, Frost DK, Unholy DK, Prot Paladin, Bear, Blood DK in this order.
This is why I love this channel, it's not completely shitting on any of the tanks in the game, I have been reemed out for wanting to play a warrior tank in wrath just because the "Private server pros know what's best" keep up the awesome videos Scott

I find it interesting that for DPS, you found that critical thinking is regarded highly in terms of fun (ie Fire Mage and Frost DK) but for Tank, the quick-thinking nature and decision making of a Blood DK, you don't find fun. Just an interesting thought I had.
The abilities and quick thinking he likes. He doesn't like the rune system so it's a big out off for him. Which means he doesn't like the most of the style of play. Not sure how you don't understand lol.

Before I watch the vid I will say hands down the Paladin. The pally and wrath were built for each other. I soloed a lot of group quests with it back in the day. Was also great for soling older content. I had so much fun with it and I cant wait to do it again.

I agree with your order, war tanking was a ton of fun but they feel a lil squish as a raid tank to me blood dk I didn't like cause it felt like a "This or That" tank where the others can do "This and That" idk if that makes sense to others lol. Bears are cool cause of the massive amounts of hp they get. Paladins just have a response to everything
I personally played paladin on so many privs (mainly warmane) but seeing how everyone plays it so pugging is out of question so i gave up on playin tank in tbc to wrath i decided to stick to my Enhancemt allthough i have found myslef enjoying protection warrior a ton
Enh Shaman IMO is the most fun to tank with. I have one and people don't think it's possible but with the % stam talent and all the aoe and survivability perks like MW insta cast heals n CL you don't really need a taunt. Using 2H only makes it even more satisfying.
Ret tank with RF is rly good too in RDF.
You won't have fun as a prot warrior when no one invites you to raid or how you can barely keep aggro

I turned down pally to go bear. Bear is better for me because I can tank and dps with the same build. Dual build would be less bear talents to pick up Primal Tenacity and Furor for PVP. Pally tank is no slouch in PVP though. Prot war slaps in PVP too.

If we werent getting the Blood DK as the only viable tank, we would have more DKs. Wasnt unholy and frost nerfed hard to dps by final patch?
Not only are all 3 tanks specs are viable 3.3.5, Frost tank (23/40/8) will by far out perform Blood tanking until late ToC or ICC. Most people are stuck seeing DK tanking as Blood because of the changes in Cata+ but back in ICC the first go around almost all the tanking was done by 23/40/8 Frost spec for DKs.
It should also be noted that Blood spec tanking is by far the least FUN DK tank spec.
@@slappyosis I found blood boring tank or dps. Unholy was my favorite and then frost. I tanked in all three, but I recall some decent nerfs to unholy tank after nax or ulduar and made it undesirable. I think I also was leveling the 3 other tanks so She got less love. Still sitting in her T7 on retail actually.

@@vaels5682 The only thing blood tanking offers that frost does not is 3.25% more effective health in the best case scenario. This comes at a cost of worse mitigation overall and you give up the ability to use 2x last Laugh which means frost gets about 1% bonus health from using them over Betrayer of Humanity. So in the end blood is giving you about 2.25% more EH at the cost of worse overall mitigation. Meanwhile a druid with the same level of gear will have about 10% higher EH than any DK and a paladin will have about 2% higher EH and be a better tank in just about every way. So if you think tanking Ulduar 25hm as Frost is a terrible idea then you also think tanking it as Blood is a terrible idea.
In wotlk can druids now use wep enchants like mongoose and crusader and it's actually viable? Will proc and such?

I played disci priest at top end raiding and as gladiator in every season in wotlk and most seasons in tbc, but at the end of actual wotlk me and 9 friends made a 10 man raid team and i tanked as prot paladin and loved it + prot pala was great in pvp at the time. I intend on still playing my disci priest for pvp solely to get those glad titles again but i intend on maining a prot pala for pve, however i have my 70 priest but i dont have a paladin, should i buy the dark portal pass (as i never bought it so its still avail for me) and lvl from 58-70 so im ready or should i hold off? im abit worried i havnt heard anything about the level 70 boost yet. Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Can give you feedback on that. On p1 aoe tanking is really hard. If there are more than 3-5 mobs you are starting to lose aggro in dungeons and also for the raids p1 is not offering good gears towards to feral tanks but scaling was always what the ferals are best at it so in ToC and ICC nothing can stop pala and druid tank

Not having played a warrior past level 10... i cant comment on warriors. I have tried max level druid tanks. I'll be honest, i kind felt it was sorta boring. There never seemed to be any... 'feeling' to when you hit the boss. I cant explain it, but the sound, visual effects and character animation never felt like it had power behind it. Power the druid does have. And DK's... to be honest, it felt weird playing one as a DPS... but even weirder to tank with it. The blows felt good.. but i really felt it did better and felt better as a DPS than a tank.
And i am biased as I've played a paladin tank for way longer than any of the others.
I know what you mean. Something about having a shield that screams 'I'm a tank yo.' Warriors, while no longer my favorite tank, definitely have a more hard-core feel to them than one wielding a 2 handed sword.

@@Kamion991 well warrior tank has 1 job on buffed content and that's max block build to tank Anub HC thrash. Also meta is in pservers playing best classes for that role so you can overcome buffed content. My little warrior tank friend was having hard time tanking KT but meanwhile when he was not in raid I was solo tanking most of the raid and that includes KT 25 man. Boss + 4 adds. Such an easy time with pala

@@Scottejaye It's funny people still think Prot Pally got the best AOE threat. As of pre-patch, that's no longer true, all tanks have about AoE threat. Prot Pally can no longer hold aggro with just consecration and holyshield. They actually have to works to get AoE threat meaning that have to tab target while using Shield of the Righteous and Hammer of Righteousness on trash pulls with more than 4 mobs.
Alot of pally hate in the comment's. Yes they might be OP but you will notice the difference in a good, bad and great pally tank.

@@LukeA471 I forget what actually changed because I quit before the patch that nerfed them, one thing was unholy blight being like a consecration that followed you for a while.
I mt'd server first sarth3d as unholy, so there was probably some extra magic damage mitigation or something because I remember that being a problem. I was usually offtank anyway. I remember it being possible to get enough avoidance to have near 100% uptime on damage mitigation rotating between bone shield and IBF.
100% this unholy was awesome for tanking. Also miss when death and decay had a 50% chance to fear for 2 seconds when glyphed. Would be great if dk could be that broken again for a few months

Hey bro PERFECTLY timed video haha i just opened up youtube hoping to find a wotlk tank video so thank you! Im curious if anyone can tell me if its possible to main a feral tank druid in wotlk as a casual player. ive struggled to find a guild to progress with as theyre all gdkp guilds or levelling ones and i know theres always a shortage of tanks i just dont know how easy it is to gear up and progress through content as a filthy casual. i usually get like 3 hours a day to play when i get home and maybe more at the weekends
Totally doable, you will not be the meta tank but you aren't looking for a hardcore meta guild. Have fun with it and if all else fails make your own raids
Yeah you should be fine man. You will already be crit and defense capped just through talents. You will also have the highest health pool of all tanks. If you are just playing causally druid tanks are fine to play and can be a main tank or off tank for any causal guild.
Hey Scottejaye, nice Video but with so many flaws. Fun as a Tank is also fun of getting over the encounters. For this Warrior is far worse then the other tanks on a 25 / heroic 25 base. Maybe you should give that hint in the videos as well.
In the end, its your opinion and i totaly respect that. But we could argue that some ppl also try to find a detail level like sarthe or other not so well known content creators provide to get a good and well rounded perspective to these topics.
First, I’m pretty sure that most people who are planning to push heroic 25s already know that warriors are the “worst” tanks in wrath. This video isn’t about how successful you’ll be, it’s about how fun it is to play. You can dungeon tank and do 10 mans absolutely perfectly fine with a prot warrior.
Second, we don’t know entirely for sure how it’s gonna go in wrath classic. Everyone expected warriors to fall off in TBC classic but they didn’t. People have been playing private servers for years, but we don’t know that they had all the numbers exactly right, and people learn and discover new stuff all the time.
Everyone should play the game they want to play it. Some people want to enjoy their class and find content that matches that play style, and some people want to do the hardest content and find a class that will make it easier.
All classes fun as soon as maniacs inv you and let you play..Not ask tier 6 for MGT hcs..or ZA

Everyone is saying prot warrior is fun but being dead on the ground come ulduar doesn’t sound fun. Also the fact your guild will prob have to bring an extra healer to keep u up is just selfish.
I like how all the abilities and playstyle of the DK are clearly more fun and dynamic yet you still rank it the lowest on the list...
My experience matches his actually. I want to like DK tanking because of all the fun abilities, but you have to be so incredibly mindful of when you use them that it can be overwhelming.

because frost was only the tank specc from patch 3..0 to 3.2 or something in 3.3x they changed that.

@@cemtolu4542 they can indeed be yes also DRW can also be considered a dps talent at the same time you have unbreakable armor Imp icebound fortitude and acclimation in the frost tree. So are these not tanking talents not to mention the shear amount of armor value increase and stamina. So they are both tank specs depending on how you put them together. But blood was not defined end all be all tank tree till cata released.
I found the lack of a ranged pull with bears made them less fun to tank with - avengers shield for pallies and howling blast for frost dk tanks made pulls a lot cleaner in 5 man's for those classes.

I don't agree and actually sad that not seeing the most op thing that pala has and it is Argent Defender. Pala is the best tank in whole expansion till ICC cause ferals getting so much hp and other goodies but other than that has 1 flaw on mana issue and it's Vezax. Other than that there are no tank that has more utilities + more tankiness than a paladin and I am saying this that progressed on every tank.
Friendly suggestion if you thinking going hardcore with a warrior tank just don't. Even the content will be faceroll still people would prefer palas. If the fun is the thing we after I would stay paladin. While our warrior tank was having hard time on KT on buffed content I was able to solo tank KT 25 man with pala and that's so much fun.
Having played them all I think it goes dk > Druid > warrior > paly

Ok, unfair you completely gloss over druids gaining actual CDs in wrath. The whole, pretty much the same is totally half wrong. We can use items and engineering in form THIS IS HUGE, Enchants proc in form now. Leader of the pack is a crit buff for all, ranged and melee, if you didnt bring a cat, and they can now use barkskin and Survival Instincts AND Shadowmeld to kill that rogue when they get too close because they never watch threat and now have tots.
Also, a Good Feral Druid+tots+hysteria+beserk+herosim=Top DPS easily...and dont forget cower and shadowmeld and bear...or you will die.
