something that would actually be really funny is if you did one of these challenges again but used a pirated copy of the game. same premise of "can i beat this game in time to refund it" but at the very end reveal it was a pirated copy and there's nothing to refund. it would probably be even more effective comment bait than this video. love the vid btw
Juat a heads up for everyone, steam will never remove the refund policy even if people do stuff like this, because they legally are not allowed to, they lost a court case in Australia which requires refunds and it is the reason the refund policy exists in the first place, cause it legally has to

They initially forgot to remove a debug feature where you could basically spam a specific button and it just skips through most of the game. That was patched out though, and I'm not sure it was ever possible in the Steam version. But the any% record is 1:17:31 RTA, so 2 hours should be doable.
I've been using steam for 15 years. In all this time they've never granted me a refund that wasn't within the guaranteed period, even when I had 0 seconds of playtime but bought the game 15-30 days ago, and even when I was just a few minutes over 2 hours of playtime while being within the 14 day window. The only exceptions I've heard of where they granted refunds outside of the guaranteed period are for situations like HD2 in early May, 2024, NMS on release, and other situations where the publisher pulled some BS
@@tomboy_kisser I got GTA IV refunded after ~9 hours of play and 20 days of purchase with 10+ achievements. So the ethical way (if any cares) I've found to approach refund challenge is: having a burner account/buying 2 keys and only refunding one, so you have still technically bought a copy of the game, therefore supporting the devs.
I mean... Steam has pretty standard rules for returns. You don't HAVE to return it and if you're going as far as your describing anyways, you're literally using the same amount of money. Why not just keep it and accept the time as a win?

The devs of the trilogy were sent to the Call of Duty jail because the sales were "lackluster" You never hurt the devs when doing this to AAA games, only shareholders, devs don't get paid more/less depending on the sales
The people that do these challenges have already bought the game, hence how they can practice. They just make a new account to attempt beating the game in 2 hours, and if they don't, that technically is more money to the developers. Yeah, it's definitely not because of the Minimum Viable Product concept that infected the AAA industry over the past decade with countless devs and marketers giving talks on it. It's definitely not because capitalism doesn't require infinite growth to be sustainable, and making a profit is not enough - the profit must always be larger than the last one or it's considered a failure. Nothing to do with cutting content to sell it back as DLC for more profit, either. Bruh, get some common sense about modern PC gaming before making willfully ignorant crybully comments.
