Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? Cannot believe that you found the strength to pause during the the greatest guitar solo of all time. I have tried doing that over the years and I've been listening to Comfortable Numb since it's release in 1979, and I have never managed to pause even with some emergency calls for the bathroom, it just had to wait until the solo was finished, so much respect.
Earls court London 1994 i was at this concert when they recorded this, I'm a huge Floyd fan and have seen them many times Over the years and 1994 was the last time i saw them and it was epic. It's great you're listening to this, I'm now 67yrs old and still rocking.
I found you guys through your rent reaction as I'm a big rental fan but to see you put a Floyd one up, I am absolutely buzzing can't wait to see your reaction. Much love guys 🫶🏽
I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.
I saw this show live... Not the night of filming sadly, but after the night of the collapsing section of seats. This is a real treat. Thank you. If you fancy experiencing The Wall in full, i recommend the live version, Roger Waters, live in Berlin. Its a real treat. Especially Jerry Halls appearance.
Each Pink Fliyd album is created so that each track flows into each other, please do a full album reaction or full concert reaction. Thats how they were meant to be experienced🙏
They are well know for amazing live shows, live at pompeii is a sedate one off live that was an acoustic masterpiece in how they set up the p.a, it sounds awesome considering how long ago it was done.
Omg! You literally made me laugh out loud telling your bro, NO NEVER PAUSE A GUITAR SOLO!😂 Especially from Pink Floyd. Seriously! And I like everything from Ren, NF, Tool, Fred Again, Prof, Twenty-One Pilots, Muse, Arctic Monkeys, etc. I am just s music lover! You guys are awesome! Loves ❤️ your friend, Mary
So comfortably numb is half way through the album The Wall which was originally a film staring Bob Geldof which is a film about Greed and depression. You will not be surprised I'm another Pink Floyd and Ren fan. 😁
Nope. "The Wall" album is the original work. "The Wall" is first and foremost the greatest concept album of all time. The movie released some years later is a somewhat mediocre Hollywood adaptation of the original double album many consider to be a masterpiece.
It's hard to react to Pink Floyd because most people just zone in and check out for the length of the song. Their sound is beautiful. That being said...the chemistry between you two is just so much fun. My new favorite channel.
SINCE YOU INTERUPTED SOLO TWICE , I DID CHECKOUT SONG YOU MENTIONED AND IT WAS STOLEN NOT SAMPLED BECAUSE NO COPYRIGHT CLEARANCE FROM WRITER GILMOUR NOR THE LABEL WAS REQUESTED.. LETS SEE WHAT THE RECORD LABEL WILL SAY AND THEY WILL CHECK GILMOUR.....
' Coming Back To Life' , 'On The Turning Away', 'Dogs Of War' 'Another Brick In The Wall', etc etc etc...These types of requests will build your viewers ;) Lotta PF fans that enjoy others finding them...btw, the lights shift throughout an entire Floyd concert
Pink Floyd made complete albums with so many variations in sound and even musical style. IMO, the lyrics, the messages, the stories of their albums are what make their music elite. Their "A list" songs are of course epic, but stories of the complete albums are above and beyond.
Well guys you did not disappoint. I enjoyed your reaction like all the ones I watched so far. They where huge and still are. Very, skilled musicians and very innovative at the time. Try Money for a another one. Keep it up, cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎
The Pulse concerts and tour of 1994 was Pink Floyd's last. Lead vocalist and guitarist David Gilmour just released a new solo album. Now at age 78, he'll be embarking on a two c 14:51 ity tour of the US this month... New York and LA. Probably the last time to see this living legend in person. And yes, he still finishes with "Comfortably Numb".
I saw this show when they came to Vancouver Canada. One the greatest experiences of my life. This was not the last song of the show. This was the penultimate song. The final song of this show was Run Like Hell and a must see. Also check out Wish You Were Here from the same concert. When they played this song in Vancouver 65,000 people sang along. It sent chills up my spine. Another one to definitely watch is Sorrow. A masterclass in guitar work.
okay I loved this tho xD 1: what an unexpected and absolute joy to see this pop up! 2: the a b s o l u t e hillarity of Siah gloriously missing his window and wanting to say something 15 seconds into what will be a 4 and a half minute long guitar solo - and being absolutely denied by King Prime! I mean, generally I agree with the King and think one should wait 'till after a solo to pause - but this was a really unfortunate scenario xD the situation definitely worth the resulting humour though! Thanks for fighting for us King ♥ 3: also Siah not recognizing the song during the verse or chorus, but during said guitar solo - wild! ("another way" you say? curious to listen to that! :D) regarding your question "what should we listen to": that's not easy to answer. I think some of the best pink floyd stuff profits from being listened to in context of their Album ("shine on you crazy diamond pts 6-9" being one of my favourites and a prime example of this). As for single songs (and something entirely different than that), I think I might suggest "Money". The studio version (Album: The Dark Side Of The Moon) is great, but since you said you like seeing live performances, the performance from this same concert (Pulse) is also fantastic! another band, that lends itself to a rabbit hole and that I would be very curious to see you react to is TOOL. popular with reactors are: "sober" (live, 1993) - a great performance, and a great song, though it is not that great of an example of their usual stuff (if there is such a thing), and the sound - even if remastered - is just not that great. and "Pneuma" (Danny Carey drum cam, on the Vic Firth channel). I think personally I'd recommend "The Pot" (studio version though) for you guys! If you want more guitar crying, these would be very classic suggestions: Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (live 1977) Guns'n'Roses - November Rain (the live version to recommend is tokyo 1992, but I think for this I'd stick with the Music Video) more fantastic story telling (as that is something you tend to compliment in Ren's music): Meatloaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light Nightwish - The Poet And The Pendulum (live Wembley 2015) - now this one.... this one needs some more information: first off: if you want to get a channel growth (similar to the Ren videos I'd guess), Nightwish is not a bad place to go. They will be.... different. to what you are going to be used to. most people also don't start with this song, but with "Ghost Love Score" (Wacken 2013), and actually one COULD argue, that the emotional impact of this song (the poet and the pendulum, the one I recommended) is bigger, when you know the context of when/how/why it was written, and when you already now the musicians. That said: I think the song is fantastic either way and it is much more storytelling than Ghost Love Score. That one is far from bad either, and if you wanted to start the same way other reactors do, this would be the song to choose. lastly: especially in your reaction to the big push the comment section was full of Skindred recommendations, which warmed my heart :D First saw them live 14 years ago and have seen them at least half a dozen times since. The singer (Benji Webbe) is from Wales and also of Jamaican descent! I'd recommend "Ratrace" (Album: Roots Rock Riot) and "Nobody" (Album: Babylon; their debut album). Sadly I don't know any live videos of theirs, of which I'd say they sound great - I'd love to be corrected by other peoples suggestions^^ cheers!
The stage was setup as an EYE!!! During the song, the center eyeball starts looking down and then focusing on David Gilmour. Then stop in a Guirat Solo, let alone with such a dumb questions that could have waited. Pink Floyd is all about their stage shows where there are things happening all around the stadium. I saw them live once for their Division Bell Tour at the Oakland Coliseum in the early 90's.. F'in Amazing!!!!

Especially considering that question you stopped it for could easily have waited. You are asking someone who is none the wiser than you are. Strike 1 😉It wasn't the outro or the intro, it was the 2nd last, they went in to 'Run Like Hell' from this one which was the finale.
This was my 3rd Floyd concert, at RFK in DC. Epic is the perfect word for this and every other show I've seen. Cheers....
Never stop a guitar solo
The most playable solos that almost NOONE can play! Every note played is exactly what was neded. No more. No less. Just perfect meaning.
Tina S made a great cover : she's a real guitar heroin.
I found you guys through your rent reaction as I'm a big rental fan but to see you put a Floyd one up, I am absolutely buzzing can't wait to see your reaction. Much love guys 🫶🏽
Yeah, pausing during the solo is a nono.
I'm on a bus watching this. I think every passenger heard my loud intake of breath when you almost paused😂
This was filmed at Earls Court in London during the Pulse 1994 tour, check out other songs from it.
I saw them the night after they filmed this.
9:21, very good reaction, I appreciate...Never ever don't interrupt solo guitar.
My exact reaction! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Only question allowed during a guitar solo is 'Do you hear this bruv!?' 😂❤
To pause during a Gilmour solo is against international law. Punishment is a hell in which you get no music at all.
That is just....AWFUL
No, Worse; He has to listen an Endless loop of Yoko Ono's cover of "Great Gig in the Sky". Listen and You may agree.
You interrupt a David Gilmour guitar solo and you get 7 years bad luck. 😂
Dark side of the moon the full album reaction please 👍 or just great gig in the sky will blow your mind, or time, both taken from that album
I would LOVE a full album reaction. 🤘🥳
Yasssss! One of the greatest songs ever written
Never had a pink Floyd reaction make me laugh so hard. Good job, lol. Glad you enjoyed. Pink Floyd doesn't play fair. They transcend genre.
This is not the last song of that concert. The last song was RUN LIKE HELL, visually literally a firework.
FYI. David Gilmour was 48 in this video.
Younger than Jimmy Fallon, Mario Lopez. I don't know what the hell these guys are talking about.
Gilmour had us elevated just drifting & floating .. then the Pause 🤣
Lol, one of the worlds most famous guitar solo. 😂 It is kind of blasphemy to pause it, but you’re forgiven. 😊
So much respect for understanding the sanctity of the guitar solo, and for so much sass 😂
I was counting minutes to money game 3, this is a stab in my back! :)
Several THOUSAND apologies! It will drop though... We won't make you wait too long
@@thedreadinitpodcast love pink floyd though, so may you be forgiven
@@JK67real Yeah, It's a confusing mix of emotions! Excited disappointment!?
@@JK67real ditto!
@@izzybca lol we aim to confuse 😂
The encore was "Run Like Hell". Epic. And ALL of Pink Floyd is elite shit.
This was the 2nd, of 3 encores. The WHOLE concert is incredible.
Hey Einstein, just so you know the "intro" is the start of the song and the "outro" is the ending.
He gets a pass because of how on point you were about guitar solo pauses. Respect brother
I've been lurking waiting for REN MG3 to drop, but I'll accept this ! :)
Hard same!! I saw their fits were the same, and started hoping for a video dump.
Same! Been checking back sooooo much!
Talks all the way thru this classic, last time i listen to you guys
Try "High Hopes" from the same concert. Another amazing solo.
A masterclass in guitar work.
okay I loved this tho xD
1: what an unexpected and absolute joy to see this pop up!
2: the a b s o l u t e hillarity of Siah gloriously missing his window and wanting to say something 15 seconds into what will be a 4 and a half minute long guitar solo - and being absolutely denied by King Prime!
I mean, generally I agree with the King and think one should wait 'till after a solo to pause - but this was a really unfortunate scenario xD
the situation definitely worth the resulting humour though! Thanks for fighting for us King ♥
3: also Siah not recognizing the song during the verse or chorus, but during said guitar solo - wild! ("another way" you say? curious to listen to that! :D)
regarding your question "what should we listen to": that's not easy to answer. I think some of the best pink floyd stuff profits from being listened to in context of their Album ("shine on you crazy diamond pts 6-9" being one of my favourites and a prime example of this). As for single songs (and something entirely different than that), I think I might suggest "Money".
The studio version (Album: The Dark Side Of The Moon) is great, but since you said you like seeing live performances, the performance from this same concert (Pulse) is also fantastic!
another band, that lends itself to a rabbit hole and that I would be very curious to see you react to is TOOL.
popular with reactors are:
"sober" (live, 1993) - a great performance, and a great song, though it is not that great of an example of their usual stuff (if there is such a thing), and the sound - even if remastered - is just not that great. and
"Pneuma" (Danny Carey drum cam, on the Vic Firth channel).
I think personally I'd recommend "The Pot" (studio version though) for you guys!
If you want more guitar crying, these would be very classic suggestions:
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (live 1977)
Guns'n'Roses - November Rain (the live version to recommend is tokyo 1992, but I think for this I'd stick with the Music Video)
more fantastic story telling (as that is something you tend to compliment in Ren's music):
Meatloaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Nightwish - The Poet And The Pendulum (live Wembley 2015) - now this one.... this one needs some more information:
first off: if you want to get a channel growth (similar to the Ren videos I'd guess), Nightwish is not a bad place to go.
That one is far from bad either, and if you wanted to start the same way other reactors do, this would be the song to choose.
lastly: especially in your reaction to the big push the comment section was full of Skindred recommendations, which warmed my heart :D
First saw them live 14 years ago and have seen them at least half a dozen times since. The singer (Benji Webbe) is from Wales and also of Jamaican descent!
I'd recommend "Ratrace" (Album: Roots Rock Riot) and "Nobody" (Album: Babylon; their debut album). Sadly I don't know any live videos of theirs, of which I'd say they sound great - I'd love to be corrected by other peoples suggestions^^
cheers!
How nice, first Ren and nie Pink Floyd?
Puu, I am thrilled, what a treat👍
Very exited! Thank you, cheers from Berlin
👍🍀😎
Gah ❤ I am so happy you're reacting to this 🎉 so good ❤
was the last song of the second set. There was an encore, that ended the show, "Run Like Hell", that is truly truly epic.
They pull out ALL the stops for that one 💗
pausing a Gilmour solo, is like being awakened from a great dream, and you go and try to recapture that feeling, your pissed at the person that woke you up. YOU SCREWED IT. Your friend, listen to him
It was the second of 3 songs of their encore. Run Like Hell was the final song. I saw this concert at Vanderbilt Stadium in 94. Absolutely amazing
It wasn't even a sensible question. 🙄
I'm going to repent for my sins 😢
@@SIAHTHAGOD You should have listened to the King, cos even a stopped clock is right twice a day. 😉
You know what James.... We like you! 😁
@@thedreadinitpodcast That got you a subscribe mate. Now don't do it again! 😏
Guaranteed you guys will like any version of Great Gig in the Sky.
The original off of Dark Side of the Moon has a single singer, all the live versions use 3 singers.
Wow 😮 great choice I didn’t think of that
😊
Does he have a brain injury 🤕😵💫, you Told him not to stop the solo, and he Still did it .😱
This was the first finale. They came back out to do a couple more. Last song was Run Like Hell. Well worth you guys checking out, as well.
Love your reactions and you are correct David Gilmour shows up like a plumber there to fix your sink until he starts to make love to that Stratocaster and NOBODY makes love to a strat like David. That guitar went out the back after the second solo for a smoke and to compose itself. Much love from Greece stay safe and healthy. And you interrupted one of the greatest solos of all of music history sacrilege - sacrilege i say
I was at that gig just over 30yrs ago now. It was the greatest music experience of my life that will never be bettered
Glad to have seen them live...twice. Did you interrupt a guitargasm?😊
"I love a crying guitar" spot on 🤝
Move the pause button away from him next time
An epic performance from the same concert is "High Hopes", I think everyone can relate to the message of that song and it has another epic solo.
