    So glad I found this video, thank you! It's by far the clearest, most concise and helpful taping how-to. Most people filming these forget they're filming for people who have no clue what they're doing, you didn't.

    My 11 year old daugher had her ankle sprained during practice, treated with ice for 3 days only for her to sprained it again after those 3 days. Just bought this tape at Decathlon and did with your instructions and she felt much relief, I will keep monitoring for the next days to see how it goes, but thanks for sharing.

    • @enoina

      I am very glad that that helped. At some point get to see an Osteopractic physical therapist who performs manipulations and they can manipulate the top of the ankle. It’s also important to make sure that they’re doing an exercise that works on helping to bring the foot outward a group of muscles called the peroneals. This combination of things can actually help to reduce the opportunity for reoccurrence of this type of injury. thanks for sharing and I’m glad to hear that this has been helpful!

    Great video, thank you BUT where is the placement of the anchors on the 3rd piece of KTape? You mention that the strip is "slightly offset" but where on the foot? ankle? is the medial anchor placed? Thank you 💖💖

    • @enoina
      @enoina  3 месяца назад

      Both of the medial anchors are placed close to the medial malleolus. One just slightly one just slightly posterior and then moving laterally.

    I'm sceptical to this kind of stuff, but I sprained my foot pretty bad and it gets better, but sloooowly.
    I thought I'd better try this then, it can't hurt.
    I've been able to walk 15000k steps without a limp today, I still feel some slight pain, but not that knife cutting pain that makes one limp.
    I don't know if it's placebo or what not, but it seems to work, and my foot is just as flexible as normal.

      Will this work for anterior ankle impingement?

    • @enoina
      @enoina  8 лет назад +1

      +Hannah Bauer here's the deal… If you have an anterior impingement… That means that something in the ankle is locked and you should have your ankle manipulated to reduce the impingement. Then place the taping on as seen in the video and you should be good to go. This is the method that I do with 100% of my ankle patients who've had a lateral ankle sprain.

    I have only blue tape (KT) and I am a size 5.5 women's shoe. Do Ineed to buy the other colors to make it shorter? Or can I trim? How long can it stay on?

    • @soniarodriguez1462
      @soniarodriguez1462 5 лет назад +1

      You dont need to get other colors. You can probably see of you could tape it with the normal length of the KT tape because once you hit the spot that is no stretch you could just lay it down in the direction that the tape is already going. Or if you still think it's too long you could trim it but make sure to round the edges. Its expensive stuff so personally I wouldn't want to waste it. And if I'm correct it can last up to 24 ish hours.

    • @enoina
      @enoina  2 года назад

      Yes it can help by stabilizing the soft tissue and the bone as well… But you may want to make sure that you’re following your doctor’s orders with regard to weight-bearing status which can also be important.

  • @justintoth5921
    @justintoth5921 4 года назад +1

    How much support is this really giving if you're only applying 10% tension? I've never seen any KT tape applications that don't apply at least some 50% tension, and most go as high as 80% tension where support is needed most.

    • @enoina
      @enoina  4 года назад +2

      Justin Toth It is going to give a significant amount of support remember support is a loose term… The idea of kinesiology tape regardless of brand is to enhance the movement of the muscle or something that typically supports will also very typically limit range of motion in someway shape or form. Kinesiology tape is designed to allow you to move your full and functional range of motion without increasing pain. After over 28,000 tapings and from the perspective of a high-level orthopedic manual physical therapist the other thing to take into consideration is often times people will tape you into your dysfunctional position where is a good therapist will reduce the dysfunctional position and then tape you. Lastly there’s no need to have that much tension on the TV because that much tension create something that is more again brace like and therefore more limiting in your range of motion.

    Could I use 15-20% tension as I am a lineman and a heavy lifter and could use all the stability I can (I had a grade 2 ankle sprain and was booted for 5 weeks and in a soft cast for 3 in Nov. '16)

    • @enoina
      @enoina  7 лет назад +6

      Owen Coyne you could but why would you want to? The myth in taping is that increased tension means increased stability which is actually false. With that the more tight the tape is the more it becomes like a brace instead of mobility of a ankle being allowed. The table is designed to lift the skin to take pressure off the nerves and muscles thereby allowing the muscles to work properly with good ankle stability.

    This really helped my ankle during the day but when I woke up this morning after keeping the tape on all night, the outside bone on my ankle feels sore/bruised. I likely did add more tension when I put it on though. Any idea what would be causing this? Thanks!

    • @enoina
      @enoina  3 года назад +3

      I’m very glad that this is help you! However, to answer your question… No there is zero likelihood that the tape caused any increase in pain. Often with a lateral ankle sprain… Because of the way that you can pull the muscles in the fascia and the tendons on the outside of the ankle…. That discomfort can last for quite some time because of the injury itself. One of the things that you may consider is talk to a physical therapist or a chiropractor who can manipulate your ankle specifically the talus… as very commonly it is “locked“ after a lateral ankle sprain. But again the tape will not increase pain. I hope this is helpful.

    hiya, was out for 4.5 months with atfl tear. did a long physio program but it still doesn’t feel right at all, rolled it again once too. i feel a pulling feeling in it, odd - would it be worth getting it scanned or?

    • @enoina
      @enoina  2 года назад +1

      There’s really no reason to get it scanned… Do you recall how big the tear was? In other word was a great one, a grade 2, a grade 3 or a grade 4?
      If it’s a grade 2 or 3 healing can take a bit longer because the tear is partial. If you have a grade 4 (full tear) that’s a good thing. About 25% of the population has a full tear and getting it repaired can be a long recovery.
      Also did your PT do dry needling around the ankle? If not I’d suggest it…it’s helpful!!!
      Did they manipulate or pop your ankle? If not it’s recommended to help to realign the tissues around the ankle.
