So glad I found this video, thank you! It's by far the clearest, most concise and helpful taping how-to. Most people filming these forget they're filming for people who have no clue what they're doing, you didn't.
The first time my husband taped my ankle this way, I teared up in relief. Instant relief. I have chronic ankle to hip issues since birth. This was amazing. If you see this- Thank you so much!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou thankyou !! finally i found a video that A - makes sense - and B-if you have a sprained ankle you can actually understand the taping when your in pain and frustrated. in two minutes you were clearer than anyone else took 20 and the taping was so strange!
My 11 year old daugher had her ankle sprained during practice, treated with ice for 3 days only for her to sprained it again after those 3 days. Just bought this tape at Decathlon and did with your instructions and she felt much relief, I will keep monitoring for the next days to see how it goes, but thanks for sharing.
I am very glad that that helped. At some point get to see an Osteopractic physical therapist who performs manipulations and they can manipulate the top of the ankle. It’s also important to make sure that they’re doing an exercise that works on helping to bring the foot outward a group of muscles called the peroneals. This combination of things can actually help to reduce the opportunity for reoccurrence of this type of injury. thanks for sharing and I’m glad to hear that this has been helpful!
Great video, thank you BUT where is the placement of the anchors on the 3rd piece of KTape? You mention that the strip is "slightly offset" but where on the foot? ankle? is the medial anchor placed? Thank you 💖💖
I'm sceptical to this kind of stuff, but I sprained my foot pretty bad and it gets better, but sloooowly. I thought I'd better try this then, it can't hurt. I've been able to walk 15000k steps without a limp today, I still feel some slight pain, but not that knife cutting pain that makes one limp. I don't know if it's placebo or what not, but it seems to work, and my foot is just as flexible as normal.
Yes....improved position and stability which may in most cases reduce the opportunity for reoccurrence of this injury. There's also significantly less tension which will allow a fuller and more functional range of motion
+Hannah Bauer here's the deal… If you have an anterior impingement… That means that something in the ankle is locked and you should have your ankle manipulated to reduce the impingement. Then place the taping on as seen in the video and you should be good to go. This is the method that I do with 100% of my ankle patients who've had a lateral ankle sprain.
I have only blue tape (KT) and I am a size 5.5 women's shoe. Do Ineed to buy the other colors to make it shorter? Or can I trim? How long can it stay on?
You dont need to get other colors. You can probably see of you could tape it with the normal length of the KT tape because once you hit the spot that is no stretch you could just lay it down in the direction that the tape is already going. Or if you still think it's too long you could trim it but make sure to round the edges. Its expensive stuff so personally I wouldn't want to waste it. And if I'm correct it can last up to 24 ish hours.
Yes it can help by stabilizing the soft tissue and the bone as well… But you may want to make sure that you’re following your doctor’s orders with regard to weight-bearing status which can also be important.
How much support is this really giving if you're only applying 10% tension? I've never seen any KT tape applications that don't apply at least some 50% tension, and most go as high as 80% tension where support is needed most.
Justin Toth It is going to give a significant amount of support remember support is a loose term… The idea of kinesiology tape regardless of brand is to enhance the movement of the muscle or something that typically supports will also very typically limit range of motion in someway shape or form. Kinesiology tape is designed to allow you to move your full and functional range of motion without increasing pain. After over 28,000 tapings and from the perspective of a high-level orthopedic manual physical therapist the other thing to take into consideration is often times people will tape you into your dysfunctional position where is a good therapist will reduce the dysfunctional position and then tape you. Lastly there’s no need to have that much tension on the TV because that much tension create something that is more again brace like and therefore more limiting in your range of motion.
Could I use 15-20% tension as I am a lineman and a heavy lifter and could use all the stability I can (I had a grade 2 ankle sprain and was booted for 5 weeks and in a soft cast for 3 in Nov. '16)
Owen Coyne you could but why would you want to? The myth in taping is that increased tension means increased stability which is actually false. With that the more tight the tape is the more it becomes like a brace instead of mobility of a ankle being allowed. The table is designed to lift the skin to take pressure off the nerves and muscles thereby allowing the muscles to work properly with good ankle stability.
I sprained my ankle 8 days ago and it was really bad like i couldn't walk for 3 ish days but i can walk on it and rotate it now but i was wondering how long beforw it fully heals as i wanna get back to football
hello sir I had ankle sprain after 3 weeks pain has gone I can walk but swollen part around ankle is not decreasing and I can't stretch my ankle downwards only upwards movement is easy but not down
Hi, I had an ankle sprain 5 months ago and this week I will play soccer for first time since then. I want to know if this kind of taping is better than using a conventional ankle support when playing soccer?
Hello Sir... I'm Suffering from Grade 3 ligament tear since April 2018. I m on recovery stage. But In winters it comes back... My all my efforts for my ankle goes in vain. Plzz...tell me sir How to care my ankle in winters. Plz help me Sir Can kT tape help me in any way.. If it is.. So plz sir... I request you for self applying techniques 🙏🙏🙏
Ruby Arora taping, calf stretches, realigning of ankle and release of the muscles called tibialis posterior, peroneal longus and breves and the flexor hallucis longus
@@enoina I'm sorry sir... This is very typical doctors language which is very difficult for me to understand... Can you plz explain in common language so that I can understand what you want to say... Plz 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This really helped my ankle during the day but when I woke up this morning after keeping the tape on all night, the outside bone on my ankle feels sore/bruised. I likely did add more tension when I put it on though. Any idea what would be causing this? Thanks!
I’m very glad that this is help you! However, to answer your question… No there is zero likelihood that the tape caused any increase in pain. Often with a lateral ankle sprain… Because of the way that you can pull the muscles in the fascia and the tendons on the outside of the ankle…. That discomfort can last for quite some time because of the injury itself. One of the things that you may consider is talk to a physical therapist or a chiropractor who can manipulate your ankle specifically the talus… as very commonly it is “locked“ after a lateral ankle sprain. But again the tape will not increase pain. I hope this is helpful.
hiya, was out for 4.5 months with atfl tear. did a long physio program but it still doesn’t feel right at all, rolled it again once too. i feel a pulling feeling in it, odd - would it be worth getting it scanned or?
There’s really no reason to get it scanned… Do you recall how big the tear was? In other word was a great one, a grade 2, a grade 3 or a grade 4? If it’s a grade 2 or 3 healing can take a bit longer because the tear is partial. If you have a grade 4 (full tear) that’s a good thing. About 25% of the population has a full tear and getting it repaired can be a long recovery. Also did your PT do dry needling around the ankle? If not I’d suggest it…it’s helpful!!! Did they manipulate or pop your ankle? If not it’s recommended to help to realign the tissues around the ankle.
i got this while playing badminton i have got a nerve swollen on my ankle i can feel it i can walk but it pain in certain positions its on my left foots left ankle can it reduce the swelling of that nerve and in hos much time my ankle cud be fine
No. I had rolled my ankle badly recently while playing volleyball and I had rest for a few days and then went to California and so I decided to wrap it in KT tape for the beach but it did not help I ended up taking all of it off.
Hi! I had a fractured growth plate, and I’m healed up, but I am having discomfort and pain, I was told I had inflamed, or just bothered the ligament right to wear you were pointing in the video, I’m out for only a week, will this tape help me with dance? because I do ballet on pointe and it’s very hard for me to go on pointe with this injury.
Gonna get some it tape now.... I've basically torn all of my ankle ligaments.... plus my leg is messed up but that is a different story. Thank you gonna try something different
DBC TV Yes you can but make sure you dry it well or it will peel. I find if I dry myself off and then use my heating pad for about ten minutes it gets the glue to reattach so it lasts longer.
I have had Penoreal Tendonitis for about 4 years now. I got it when I tried to jump a very high wall. Went to the doctor for an X Ray and he said everything was fine. Unfortunately the pain keeps coming back whenever I try to play a sport. I used to be physically active and into sports but I had to stop playing ever since I got this injury. I am 15 kgs over weight now and I can't hit the gym either as I have rotator cuff tendonitis from another injury. SMH. I have ordered KT tape from Amazon and will start using it. Will update here after a month and hope to have some good news.
Nursing a sprained ankle. I had taped it originally like this: ruclips.net/video/ELsu25Gow0I/видео.html Your way actually seems the more logical to me. So, I switched. Had I used your taping technique during the first week, when I was in much more pain, is it advisable to use more tension (i.e. 50%)?
The Last Year I keep the change in about 10% because I’m trying to mimic what the skin is doing which will actually more directly support the foot nickel a little bit better.
The Last Year I can tell you after having tape for well over 28,000 people and a ton of these articles if this is hurting you then you need to probably have it checked because I’ve never heard of taping cause harm to anyone. Do you have any questions please let me know

Great video, thank you BUT where is the placement of the anchors on the 3rd piece of KTape? You mention that the strip is "slightly offset" but where on the foot? ankle? is the medial anchor placed? Thank you 💖💖
Both of the medial anchors are placed close to the medial malleolus. One just slightly one just slightly posterior and then moving laterally.
Well informed ❤❤❤ lotszzzz of love ❤️ from physiotherapist
