I wanted to be clear, the 10 games that I showcase on their own are all playable at 4K on Xbox Series X. The Xbox 360 games shown in the montages on screen aren't all backwards compatible or 4K. Still had a blast putting together this list for everyone!
Every time I hear someone complain that they can’t play their old games, my main thought it always “nobody is forcing you to get rid of your old consoles just cause a new one came out.” A true gamer saves all their stuff
I think probably it becomes too much to have all all these consoles out at once. I have the space for a bunch but most people wouldn't. In this day and age you should be able to take your games and even controllers with you into a next generation IMO.

I had Forza Horizon on disc and popped it into my Series X not knowing that it was backwards compatible. I could not believe how good it looked! "There is no way it looked like this on my 360!" Ah, it's been enhanced. That explains it! Wait a minute... now I can use my G920 steering wheel! Wow, that's right - any racing games for the 360 that are playable on the Series can use newer wheels! That in itself is a major upgrade over the old 360 force feedback wheel (which I still have). So for free on Horizon you get: 4k graphics, better frame rate, better sound, new peripheral support! OUTSTANDING.

I really wish MS could've made the entire catalog backwards compatible. The enhancements are great and it's convenient as hell. Yeah, I could emulate these, I guess, but I don't feel like going through the hassle of tinkering with each title, just to get them playable.
HOPING that at least some of the Activision games can get added now that Microsoft owns Activision. Backwards compatibility is such an underrated feature. And since they've been doing Cloud saves forever, when I go back to play Batman Arkham Origins for instance, my saves are right there.
@@thegamethrifter I believe they will, for the ones that aren't licensed. For all those Marvel games, however, I HIGHLY doubt they will, since they wouldn't be able to sell new digital copies without paying for the license (they're probably exclusive to Sony).
MS wanted to do more, but they can't due to licensing complications in some cases or even not knowing who to contact to get a licence where a developer has long since folded. We could see a resurrection of the back compat program now that MS owns Activision Blizzard, with a popular choice being the Activision published Transformers games. Imagine those enhanced to 4k and with FPS boost!
Sonic Generations is 4K 60 FPS and looks absolutely stunning. Sonic Unleashed is the original 720p resolution but runs 60 FPS which makes a huge difference in gameplay. Both are great!

As an OG gamer since ps1-ps4 days , i ended its run on the ps4 and got tired of all the low quality, boring, bad graphics , unfinished next gen games and I never needed a ps5 till a game I absolutely wanted. After being scammed into mw2 with its broken gameplay, I knew mw3 was going to be bad so I didn't bother with it. My ps4 slim does everything a ps5 can do and I don't need spiderman 2 or hogwarts, or any other boring exclusives.... and ps5s library is nothing but remastered ps4 genes anyways so This videos overview of 360s best games is partly the reason why I got my series X. I loved my ps3 and ps5 can't play ps3 games or sell ps3 digital titles and with ps3/360 having essentially the same game library collection, played the biggest part of me getting the X over the 5....
The backwards compatibility and the chance to take my library with me played a big role for myself as well. I think the best games were from the 360 era, and honestly I own so many games from that time that I haven't even played yet. I mean HUNDREDS of games because I constantly buy when I see them for a good price. I appreciate you checking out the video!
Sony has been bad about backwards compatibility for quite some time now. Only careing to put older games on their bad streaming service. But since the Xbox is behind PlayStation they have had to try a bit harder so it's impressive what they have done with backwards compatibility. One of the best looking 360 games on the Series X is Final Fantasy 13. Like the game or not it looks amazing. The 360 version was always inferior to the PS3 one. But playing it again this year this year on my 4K set up alongside and directly comparing it to the PS3 version,which I still have set up and play,the difference is night and day. On Series X not only is it in 4K but it also uses HDR and the frame rate has been increased. Not only that but all the cutscenes were also improved which is an impressive extra mile they went to. Digital Foundry was right. They could repackage the game and call it a remaster. It's that good.

It's really something and shows just how good 7th gen games can look. Much like Nightdives work on Turok 2 or the Crysis remaster for the Series X. Actually it's much like releasing older movies on 4K like Blade Runner. When they want to put the work in the results can be impressive.

I'm the same way! I thought I was the only one! lol. Witcher 2 was awesome, and I think because it was so straightforward that's why I enjoyed it so much. It still had great characters and complex situations, but it wasn't overtly huge. Witcher 3 I've tried to play multiple times and have over 100 hours into, but it just never keeps my interest very long.
I'm already working on more! Arkham Origins was such a great game, and to me the reason why it was left out is because it wasn't Rocksteady who made it, and no Conroy/Hamill in the game. But the boss fights were so much better than the Rocksteady games to me! And the plot much more interesting!

Yes, they are also 4K and 60 FPS enchanced on the Xbox One X. Most games run the same, but in some games the frame rate can dip on the One X as it has a weak processor. So the Series X is the better option, also because of the faster load times from SSD, but One X is good too if you only have that.
Who knows what would have happened? When you emulate games you need licenses again. Versus just straight up being hardware backwards compatibility which doesn't need that stuff.

Thanks for the video. Good picks! Perfect Dark Zero traumatized me when I went for 75% of the achievements for Rare Replay completion. Killing multiplayer bots for hours and hours… also required to beat single player with the second to hardest difficulty which was so, so difficult. Happy to have got it through, but I’ll never play it again.
Definitely a good topic of discussion. The Xbox 360 was Microsoft's best console, hands down. They may have been able to keep that momentum and keep up with Sony if not for Don Mattrick and his ridiculous, anti-consumer plans for the Xbox One.

I've got a better solution already, a tag 360 is the best option for 360 games. And soon phones will be able to run Xenia. I've already moved on to steam deck, backwards compatibility all the way to Pong 😊
The problem with that is you can't use it online. For me, I'm more of a collector, because digital content disappears every single day. So I like to have some stuff preserved just in case.
I don’t think you should get your hopes up for more BC games. This took time and money to do and it didn’t translate to sales. I think the program is dead
That was BEFORE they owned Activision. They've already said they want to get all the old Activision games into Game Pass. I'm sure some of the hold up is license issues that they're trying to work out currently. What good is it owning all those games if they can't put them into Game Pass? Just my thought on the matter.

@@thegamethrifter other games I’ve grabbed that run 4K 60fps are… Oblivion Splinter Cell Blacklist Fallout new Vegas runs 60fps just not 4K (which is still amazing and super smooth! Smoothest play through of fallout I’ve ever played actually!) Hopefully 🤞 this whole “4K 60FPS thing” is the new normal and we get ALL of the Xbox library @4K
I love my old 360 games. Backward compatibility was one of the reasons I got a Series X. Then I bought a game and tried to play it and ran into a bug. If someone ran into the same issue and found a fix i'd be eternally grateful if you could tell me. It prompted me to download my profile but failed telling me it can't connect to Xbox Live. Try as I might I cant find a solution. So I can never play Fallout New Vegas again. Well I can play it, I just can't save my game. Maybe I could try a permadeath playthru. I've never done that before, but I doubt my nerves could take it.
That's weird, I haven't heard of that problem before. Although I will say the Xbox 360 service has been down a lot recently. So if you tried recently and got an error it could be that you just needed to wait for the service to come back up?

I hope that Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel becomes backwards compatible. Its a gear game and I'd definitely buy it full price. Its strange that FO3 and FNV are backwards compatible but BoS isn't, especially considering that Bethesda is owned by Microsoft.

Well there's tons of games and the video can only be so long...lol I enjoy Perfect Dark Zero quite a bit, it's almost an 80 Metacritic score as well. So it's not terrible or anything.

Arkham Origins was never 4k enhanced or FPS boosted. It runs at 720p and 30fps on Xbox Series S|X.

Unfortunately they’re not adding anymore BC games but who knows? People seem to love BC games and is a huge selling point for the series consoles.
They did buy Activision, so it's at least feasible that they could add some. The holdup was the licenses, but now they have those too.

@@ThePalePatriot Series X plays things BETTER and add stuff like Auto HDR and frame rate boost to certain games. So I'd suggest Series X if possible.

Arkham is upscaled so partially right, Perfect Dark Zero is 100% native 4K on Series X.

Thanks for the video. Good picks! Perfect Dark Zero traumatized me when I went for 75% of the achievements for Rare Replay completion. Killing multiplayer bots for hours and hours… also required to beat single player with the second to hardest difficulty which was so, so difficult. Happy to have got it through, but I’ll never play it again.

Definitely a good topic of discussion. The Xbox 360 was Microsoft's best console, hands down. They may have been able to keep that momentum and keep up with Sony if not for Don Mattrick and his ridiculous, anti-consumer plans for the Xbox One.
Yea, hard to force DRM on people. Although oddly enough almost everything is in need of a internet connection now days anyway.

Warriors was PS2, right? I think it's a rare game to find these days.
I've got a better solution already, a tag 360 is the best option for 360 games. And soon phones will be able to run Xenia. I've already moved on to steam deck, backwards compatibility all the way to Pong 😊
The problem with that is you can't use it online. For me, I'm more of a collector, because digital content disappears every single day. So I like to have some stuff preserved just in case.
I don’t think you should get your hopes up for more BC games. This took time and money to do and it didn’t translate to sales. I think the program is dead
That was BEFORE they owned Activision. They've already said they want to get all the old Activision games into Game Pass. I'm sure some of the hold up is license issues that they're trying to work out currently. What good is it owning all those games if they can't put them into Game Pass? Just my thought on the matter.
Could those old Spider-Man games be added as those were published by Activision?
There's a possibility that the one's published by Activision could be added to BC.

Fallout new Vegas runs 60fps just not 4K (which is still amazing and super smooth! Smoothest play through of fallout I’ve ever played actually!)

I love my old 360 games. Backward compatibility was one of the reasons I got a Series X. Then I bought a game and tried to play it and ran into a bug. If someone ran into the same issue and found a fix i'd be eternally grateful if you could tell me.
It prompted me to download my profile but failed telling me it can't connect to Xbox Live. Try as I might I cant find a solution. So I can never play Fallout New Vegas again. Well I can play it, I just can't save my game. Maybe I could try a permadeath playthru. I've never done that before, but I doubt my nerves could take it.
That's weird, I haven't heard of that problem before. Although I will say the Xbox 360 service has been down a lot recently. So if you tried recently and got an error it could be that you just needed to wait for the service to come back up?

I hope that Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel becomes backwards compatible. Its a gear game and I'd definitely buy it full price. Its strange that FO3 and FNV are backwards compatible but BoS isn't, especially considering that Bethesda is owned by Microsoft.

I was just playing some COD MW2 with my disc in my Series X. So this is news to me. Or inaccurate?

Perfect Dark Zero was an 7/10 game when released and is absolutely terrible now even with the enhancements a Series X can give you.
Replace with FEAR.

I enjoy Perfect Dark Zero quite a bit, it's almost an 80 Metacritic score as well. So it's not terrible or anything.
