Exactly. I know they're popular, but I could never take that band seriously. Their two biggest hits were the very definition of simplistic novelty songs. The videos were funnier and more interesting than the songs. The musicians were competant professionals, but no one in that band broke any boundaries or ever played a note that was technically masterful or ground-breaking and influential. When compared next to Alice Cooper, Kiss or some others even the Twisted Sister makeup and costumes were a joke. I remember watching Dee Snyder on one of those VH1 countdowns when he made some snide comment like, "Gee, thanks, Tesla" while rolling his eyes because they dared to make a live unplugged record. This from the man behind the cringe-worthy, made-me-want-to-gouge-my-eyes-out "Leader of the Pack" video.
