Nice job Steve I love boiler plumbing work . I just replaced a aqua stat hydronic heat and domestic hot water coil relay and 6 inch flue damper today and I'm looking foward to winter .
yeah, i have noticed that before on some other videos,, some of these folks a little OCD and a little nit picky about that,, i dont get what their big deal is.. i wonder if they polish their piping with turtle wax when they get get done pipe ffitting...bat shit crazy
nice work steve. just got back a few hours ago from a no hot water call on an indirect. the transformer on the boiler was dead. it looked like a piece of BX cable may have touched the contacts. replaced and covered the new contacts. the customer said he was moving things out of his basement and may have bumped into the boiler.
Good job Steve. Does the circulator need to be on to purge the loops or is water feeder pressure enough of a force to push the water through the loops and purge? Thanks Dan
a circulator is made to move water on the principle of creating a pressure differential ... two basic rules of plumbing, hot goes to cold and hi pressure goes to low ... IT IS NOT A PUMP ... you rely on water pressure to fill the loop ... 1 psi of water pressure gives you a little over 2 feet of lift
i have a few questions, i have a leaking relief valve issue myself and i also have been just catching and emptying a bucket occasionally and refilling my system because it acts up when the pressure drops below 10PSI, However i do not have the same tank system you do. it appears the water line goes directly into a regulator and below has an air tank about the size of a propane tank. their is never water in that tank. is their anything you think i can do with my setup?
+Dwight Bennett it was a screw up for the printer i was using i origenly had fire red tags them he made me orange tags , so after all the work he did i went with them .but really wanted the fire red ones . shit happens
Steve. Excellent video! Just curious, how do you feel about customers asking questions and looking over your shoulder while you work? Do you take offense to it? Thanks and keep it up
because its hard to troubleshoot old compression tanks ... plus you cannot buy those air admittance valve you need for those old compression tanks anymore ... extrol tanks are cheap enough to throw out
+Steve Morelen some last longer i have seen some last 25 years ,so you never know . a old style tank has to be drained every 2 years so it not the best choice i rather have a tank with a extrol tank any day
+jack thompson small house takes #30 big house with big volume radiators takes a #60 . OR #120 i usally can tell by looking at system what i need .always better to go bigger if in dout .
True, but I've started avoiding lifting heavy stuff when I threw out my back carrying a big bundle of newspapers to the bin. I should have made two small bundles...
steven lavimoniere cool steve just a suggestion , cross sections of how things actual work would be interesting I think , keep up the great videos my friend , I watch the faithfully when I get home from work !
already got the boiler dumped better off changing that relief valve ... not worth filling and having to dump again ... since u don't have compression tank they might want to bail on that air scoop and install spirovent
I know they leak ... they are easy to clean and fix if u can get a pipe wrench on top half ... I like the idea of getting air out of the water as I refill ... nothing wrong with either way I guess to each his own
Always a pleasure watching a pro. Thanks for posting.

Can I install two water heaters at opposite ends of the house
Great job Steve, those boilers seem high maintenance and take up a lot of room.
+teh60 some can take some time to get up to speed . but things need to be fixed .to stay running properly
oh yeah, love these boiler videos,
thanks for posting
good work as always..
very efficient repair
+nate some guys get bum hurt if i don't wipe off the pipe dope lol i find it funny

+PHC Apprentice nothing surprices me any more . you just never know whats out there .hack jobs everywere
If you shut the main water off to the house, do you still need to shut off the water feeder to the boiler?
now i know for what reason they put that tank awesome video Steve Lavimoneare
+Carlos Raxon yes sir
Good job Steve. Does the circulator need to be on to purge the loops or is water feeder
pressure enough of a force to push the water through the loops and purge? Thanks Dan
+dansweeney10 no the water is pushed out with the water feeder on buy pass when hose is open .

Good job, Steven. Those tanks are pretty heavy after the bladder fails. First the weight followed by a small shower.
+Randy Kocian yes there heavy ,very heavy
Tight space, Steve. Nice job
+gekkedirkie very tight
I like your hydronic videos. I have a boiler in my home
+Channel Cat Chaser ok thanks man
Those ex trols can be heavy when the bladder ruptures. Good fix Steve. Looks like heating calls have started for you already.
+Fireship1 sure are heavy . man dear sometimes i can not hold them from falling .
How many years have you been using orange tags? '06 is one of the older ones I recall seeing in your videos.
+Dwight Bennett it was a screw up for the printer i was using i origenly had fire red tags them he made me orange tags , so after all the work he did i went with them .but really wanted the fire red ones . shit happens
+steven lavimoniere Good Lav' Trivia!
Nice Job Steve.

Thanks brother this video helped me
+Abdulrahman Amiri thanks for watching
Good job Steve.
+Gabriel Bumbar thanks for commenting man
Nice job Steve
+Harry Dickson thanks for watching harry
nice job Steve those tanks don't last as long as they should. some older systems have just air with no rubber bladder expansion tank.
+Michael Padovani yes some older systems still have the old style tanks but have to be drained every few years
nice work steve
+awsom70 up and working properly again
I have changed expanding tank and relief valve, but still leaking. Any idea what's the problem might be. Thanks
Torches! Another beauty Steve.
+Lex Vance soldering is a dying art these days
It is. Youre great at it. Im learning alot from watching you do it over & over. Thank you!
Steven, you seem to know what you are doing but we don't. So I would recommend that you speak louder and explain it. Good luck
+mathusalem i will try .but i think most of the stuff i do is self explanitory .
I like how you laugh at the stuff you say.
Nice work!
+Guy Hakverdi thanks for the comment
always wondered what those tanks were for.
+Jonathan Dobler now you know
Shark fittings work great!!
nice job!!!
+George Siatos thanks for the comment
If the new bladder-style expansion tanks are only lasting 5~10 years, why use new style? Didn't the old-school tanks last longer?
because its hard to troubleshoot old compression tanks ... plus you cannot buy those air admittance valve you need for those old compression tanks anymore ... extrol tanks are cheap enough to throw out
+dennis postek Thanks for the explanation.
+Steve Morelen some last longer i have seen some last 25 years ,so you never know . a old style tank has to be drained every 2 years so it not the best choice i rather have a tank with a extrol tank any day
+dennis postek good answer
pissa video steve , what is the formula for sizing , an extrol expansion tank ?
+jack thompson small house takes #30 big house with big volume radiators takes a #60 . OR #120 i usally can tell by looking at system what i need .always better to go bigger if in dout .
right on steve
no they come charged with air new 11 psi from factory
Good job
+USMC 1961 thanks man
Good fix.
+1988MowerMan thank you
Why not drill holes in the relief tank to drain it before removing?
+Galfonz i could do that ,its just one more step to do ..
True, but I've started avoiding lifting heavy stuff when I threw out my back carrying a big bundle of newspapers to the bin. I should have made two small bundles...
Don't over tighten the tank like I did and crack the air scoop on a Sunday. A little job turned into a big one.
+Dan Cole i did that one time when i was rockie lol only once .
could you take a sawzall to that expansion tank , so we can see how it works ?
+jack thompson expansion tank is just the tank with a black air sac in it full with air
stefan k i think it would be cool to see and explain how the bladder works , I know how it works , but I think viewers would find it interesting
+jack thompson maybe i will do a video about it . i have done one on extrol well tanks ruclips.net/video/Xb2H72p0m_E/видео.html
steven lavimoniere cool steve just a suggestion , cross sections of how things actual work would be interesting I think , keep up the great videos my friend , I watch the faithfully when I get home from work !
As long as the Chinese keep cheaply making all the parts and materials we use in our trades we will forever have plenty of work to do.

already got the boiler dumped better off changing that relief valve ... not worth filling and having to dump again ... since u don't have compression tank they might want to bail on that air scoop and install spirovent
+dennis postek i am not a fan of spirovents myself i will not put them in.
Why are you not a fan of spirovents?
seen to many leak . and i can get the air out with a good purge i think there a waste of money.
I know they leak ... they are easy to clean and fix if u can get a pipe wrench on top half ... I like the idea of getting air out of the water as I refill ... nothing wrong with either way I guess to each his own
