    nice work steve. just got back a few hours ago from a no hot water call on an indirect. the transformer on the boiler was dead. it looked like a piece of BX cable may have touched the contacts. replaced and covered the new contacts. the customer said he was moving things out of his basement and may have bumped into the boiler.

    If you shut the main water off to the house, do you still need to shut off the water feeder to the boiler?

    Good job Steve. Does the circulator need to be on to purge the loops or is water feeder
    pressure enough of a force to push the water through the loops and purge? Thanks Dan

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад

      +dansweeney10 no the water is pushed out with the water feeder on buy pass when hose is open .

    • @dennis-sj6im
      @dennis-sj6im 9 лет назад

      a circulator is made to move water on the principle of creating a pressure differential ... two basic rules of plumbing, hot goes to cold and hi pressure goes to low ... IT IS NOT A PUMP ... you rely on water pressure to fill the loop ... 1 psi of water pressure gives you a little over 2 feet of lift

  • @steffisradcore
    @steffisradcore 9 лет назад

    i have a few questions, i have a leaking relief valve issue myself and i also have been just catching and emptying a bucket occasionally and refilling my system because it acts up when the pressure drops below 10PSI, However i do not have the same tank system you do. it appears the water line goes directly into a regulator and below has an air tank about the size of a propane tank. their is never water in that tank. is their anything you think i can do with my setup?

    Good job, Steven. Those tanks are pretty heavy after the bladder fails. First the weight followed by a small shower.

    If the new bladder-style expansion tanks are only lasting 5~10 years, why use new style? Didn't the old-school tanks last longer?

    • @dennis-sj6im
      @dennis-sj6im 9 лет назад +1

      because its hard to troubleshoot old compression tanks ... plus you cannot buy those air admittance valve you need for those old compression tanks anymore ... extrol tanks are cheap enough to throw out

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад

      +Steve Morelen some last longer i have seen some last 25 years ,so you never know . a old style tank has to be drained every 2 years so it not the best choice i rather have a tank with a extrol tank any day

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад

      +jack thompson small house takes #30 big house with big volume radiators takes a #60 . OR #120 i usally can tell by looking at system what i need .always better to go bigger if in dout .

    already got the boiler dumped better off changing that relief valve ... not worth filling and having to dump again ... since u don't have compression tank they might want to bail on that air scoop and install spirovent

    • @stevenlavimoniere

      +dennis postek i am not a fan of spirovents myself i will not put them in.

    • @dennis-sj6im
      @dennis-sj6im 9 лет назад

      I know they leak ... they are easy to clean and fix if u can get a pipe wrench on top half ... I like the idea of getting air out of the water as I refill ... nothing wrong with either way I guess to each his own
