Real world stuff is right. That oil primary seen better days. Can't replace everything or can you. I like your description on some of those jobs. A flippin mess. Revived that old beast. Way to go, Steven.
Wow! Thanks a lot. Very interesting to see a service man in action and your thoughts while working. I could see how thing could go from bad to worse in a very short time.
why don't you work on gas LOLmy expansion tank did the same thing. Big adjustable wouldn't loosening it was able to get a pipe wrench in no luck. cut the tank of with a sawzall and was able to put more beef behind it. Glad she came off because I was looking at a really big job if she didn't. That tank full of water must have weighed 30lbs. personally I love heating systems had a really great teacher years ago at Lincoln tech in NJ.love that you bring your dog along for the ride that's really cool. Videos are great thanks for taking the time.Mike
Great video Steve!! Wow....a lot of expensive parts needed to be changed. The bearings on that burner motor didn't sound so hot either but they would have a coronary if you added that onto the bill...lol
Kick Ass Video Steve, man looks like that thing was a challenge. the freaking Buzzards, Man i hit one of those about a month ago on the highway and it took the grille out on my Command Car. I stopped to get the thing out of the road after it flew out in front of me, and a Game Warden stopped and told me not to touch it. He was telling me that the way they cool themselves off is they sit on fences or branches with their wings open and pee on themselves to cool down. Not even with the Blue Glove Club should anyone touch them, the guy told me. Might be some useless info but hey, someone might find it useful. Sorry for not commenting for a while, keep up the good work!!
I have an old Sears-Homart 200 series oil furnace that's about 60 years old and still going strong. It has an old clacker (mechanical/electrical relay?) control box on it. The old girl still chooches, though.
Thank you Steve, I noticed on my boiler, (what do you call the gauge) tridicator? Is reading 0 psi. Everything else is ok I didn't know if I could do it myself. So just relieve some pressure and water and work fast?
Hey Steve whats up! I notice the back flow prevent had a brass plug on it. Mine is leaking now but will hurt to temporally pug it until I replace it in the next few weeks thanks.
That backflow preventer around 6:45 has the vent plugged. Why would anyone do that? Does that mean it's not doing the job it's intended to do and is essentially worthless as it is?
Nice job looks clean while u were at it could of sold her a nice new spirovent just in case that scope was cracked but u lucked out no leaks was just tank.
good job,, cut out all that old rotten parts and replace,,, you got her heating again,,, good video,, real world stuff.. thumbs up... i got dejavu here,, i posted basically the same comment earlier and it aint here, so if it shows up i posted two comments,, its youtubes fault and i aint got dementia yet..
+steven lavimoniere And if you decide to up the fill pressure past 12 lbs, (like I do), they need to change the tank pressure to match the fill pressure.
i love when some idiot plugs the backflow preventer or the relief valve lol! good job getting them fixed up all around steve that sucker needed some attention
Omg Steve you be having me dying laughing. Video starts shows everything leaking and rusted and the first words are "it's not looking so good here"😂😂😂 I love your videos keep them coming very informational.
+Vinny Trocino i do not believe the pro press is good for house that i work in ,,i would never buy one personal .maybe for commencal work yes not what i do .
Seems like you can never just change just one part on a boiler. Probably popping the relief valve due to that water logged extrol tank. Great video Steve
Nice repair Steven!! You drove off from this job with the truck weighing half from when you pulled up with all the parts you used! How do you like that little pipe cutter compared to an IMP with the wheel?
way to go, cut all the rotten shit out and put her back up with some new parts.. good to go,, you got em heating again,,, real world shit,, i like this ,, good job man,, good vid,, thanks for posting
Steve, i’m always surprised that you install pressure relief valves horizontally.. the installation tag typically says that these valves need to be vertical. (Not like a water heater T&P valve).
hahaha "don't look so good here" nothing like a little maintenance once in a while. Oh shit , why do we have to do that ? That has been like that for some time. Would love to apprentice under you. i went to tech school in florida but they had only a couple heating units, no need for heat there. i was 55yo then , nothing like crawling around 120 degree attics. 10 years later i am back in mass, OH SHIT, SNOW AND COLD.
Doesn't take much to give a boiler a quick visual a couple times a year. It amazes me that people see rusty water all over the boiler and think nothing of just letting it go until it doesn't work anymore. An 8 dollar Hyvent replacement could have saved them hundreds in repairs.
streve ive spent whole days watching your videos, have learned so much, what does hydronic mean? when you were stopped on the bridge, stuck in traffic, does the customer pay for that time? dick bailey
You did good job there Steven. The customer is good to go for another season. Thanks for the video & tips.
+Pete Ciallella she should be good to go
Pure experience showing with the two pipe wrenches coupled. Bravo Steve!

+Ryan Losinger she will get some more life out of her ,,now
Wow! Thanks a lot. Very interesting to see a service man in action and your thoughts while working. I could see how thing could go from bad to worse in a very short time.
That's what you call a total overhaul Mama! Great work Steve
Wow. They definitely needed a plumber. That was a lot of stuff. Great video Steve.
+Matthew Martinez thanks for watching

Great video Steve!! Wow....a lot of expensive parts needed to be changed. The bearings on that burner motor didn't sound so hot either but they would have a coronary if you added that onto the bill...lol
+Nicholas CeeA she had many issues that needed to be adressed

+Jon Hexom mama steve is working in the ice cream truck mama
When you first showed all the rust and the open box I started laughing. I'd say it's about time for a new wrench! Good video, thanks.
That cat under the truck at the end was so cute. He was fried, dyed and laid to the side.

I have an old Sears-Homart 200 series oil furnace that's about 60 years old and still going strong. It has an old clacker (mechanical/electrical relay?) control box on it. The old girl still chooches, though.

+George Siatos all in a days work
Thank you Steve, I noticed on my boiler, (what do you call the gauge) tridicator? Is reading 0 psi. Everything else is ok I didn't know if I could do it myself.
So just relieve some pressure and water and work fast?
I can't figure out how you keep your gloves from tearing. I use black mambas they tear easily. Great job Steve.
+octaviano mora the gloves rip and i just change them ,this job i probley used 3or 4 pairs
Geeze! You had a propane torch and you didn't heat up the old fittings to use thermal expansion to get them apart easier?
Hey Steve whats up! I notice the back flow prevent had a brass plug on it. Mine is leaking now but will hurt to temporally pug it until I replace it in the next few weeks thanks.
That backflow preventer around 6:45 has the vent plugged. Why would anyone do that? Does that mean it's not doing the job it's intended to do and is essentially worthless as it is?
Holy shit looks like an expensive job!!! Nice work man! Go Pat's!
alot of work for sure. makes for a great video
+Jonathan Dobler i try to keep my videos as short as possable
Nice job looks clean while u were at it could of sold her a nice new spirovent just in case that scope was cracked but u lucked out no leaks was just tank.
+smoothsteviegful i am not a big fan of spirovent i would not install one there .
Plan C mamma! That would have been many trips to the big box store for a homeowner, good thing you stock it all in your truck.
+nodd85 yes standard stuff in my truck
How do you get people to pay man ,you offer them a great service, where I’m from people think it’s gonna be 50 box ,this is a $1000 or more for sure
Nice Job Steve.
+Dan Cole thanks for the comment
You're a rare breed! Love the videos. Out if curiosity, why not change the air scoop while you there?
good job,, cut out all that old rotten parts and replace,,, you got her heating again,,, good video,, real world stuff..
thumbs up... i got dejavu here,, i posted basically the same comment earlier and it aint here, so if it shows up i posted two comments,, its youtubes fault and i aint got dementia yet..
+nate only see one comment so far
Since I had to change my 30lb tank so many times, I always check the charge in those expansion tanks. Many time sthey are not charged at 12lbs.
+Joe Bal good idea to check .
+steven lavimoniere And if you decide to up the fill pressure past 12 lbs, (like I do), they need to change the tank pressure to match the fill pressure.
Great Job Steve.
+Jose Corona thanks for the comment
Jose Corona I
Are the zone control valves on the supply side of the system?
Steve great job. When you are bleeding the zones, why do you open and close the ball valve?
+Joe Bal i opened up the ball valve to back flush any air that might be in return line for draining the boiler
Beckett af burner ? Great job momma was that pressure tank supported or just hanging off the pipe if it had of broke off what a mess
+Ultimate heating & cooling services thats how them tanks should be installed hanging down from air scoop
Good job steven.
i love when some idiot plugs the backflow preventer or the relief valve lol! good job getting them fixed up all around steve that sucker needed some attention
+awsom70 ya i was there a while getting her fixed up ,good think i carry all that stuff in my truck
Your a bad dude Steve! (Meaning good). Nice work and thanks for the vid.
Omg Steve you be having me dying laughing. Video starts shows everything leaking and rusted and the first words are "it's not looking so good here"😂😂😂 I love your videos keep them coming very informational.
you make it look easy, see they used propress, have you ever used that system?
i might be as old as you, lol
+Vinny Trocino i do not believe the pro press is good for house that i work in ,,i would never buy one personal .maybe for commencal work yes not what i do .
Seems like you can never just change just one part on a boiler. Probably popping the relief valve due to that water logged extrol tank. Great video Steve
+Channel Cat Chaser your right the tank goes first then the relief valve
It looks like there was a pipe plug in the vent for the backflow preventer that he pulled off.
once again steve great job
+jack thompson all in a days work
Love your videos great job
Nice clean work Steve just wanted to know what flux are you using.
+Charles Messer crest selfcleaning flux

Day Star damn...I’m in pa with the same probs too
Nice repair Steven!! You drove off from this job with the truck weighing half from when you pulled up with all the parts you used! How do you like that little pipe cutter compared to an IMP with the wheel?

+Luke Peters i am from massachusets 1 hour south of boston
+Luke Peters its a air scoop i wanted to just replace the ex tank .
this job defo needed your asistance
Isn’t the relief valve supposed to be vertical. Just saying! Nice job.
Holy corrosion, Batman !
But at least no excessive use of Asbestos ^^
I'll remember that, tape and dope on coppa!
Never saw such a small pipe wrench!
That was some heavy mama. PB blaster maybe help. You got lucky.
way to go, cut all the rotten shit out and put her back up with some new parts.. good to go,, you got em heating again,,, real world shit,, i like this ,,
good job man,, good vid,,
thanks for posting
6 parts plus cleaning. That is approaching the definition of "rebuild".
+Dwight Bennett not quite ,its a common thing to have to change many parts on a older system like this one from lack of maintance
drill a hole in bottom and let watter out lighten the load and less clumsy awkward to deal with.its ready for winter now.
+backwoods3214 this one did not need a hole it drained out nicely i usally make a hole with a screw driver and a hammer to drain
I see yeah nice , this one could used finger to poke hot
Good video
+Abdulrahman Amiri thanks you
Getting that time of year moma
Boy that system needed some major parts replaced. That what happens when that stuff gets old and worn out...😨
+Bob Parrott that time of year for sure
Ok that makes sense. Thanks.
You walked into a first class mess on this job Steve

good job man
+Graham Proctor thanks for commenting graham
Would you ever consider taking on an apprentice or does that not sense being a one man show?
+Chris Bramell i work alone
Steve, i’m always surprised that you install pressure relief valves horizontally.. the installation tag typically says that these valves need to be vertical. (Not like a water heater T&P valve).
