Thanks Steve, Just got done replacing my taco powerhead, I got lucky and didn't have to replace the whole valve but your video helped a lot. Glad I didn't have to replace the whole valve. Now my third zone is nice and warm.
Great message again thank you Steve for your work and message.. , .. Robert Jr NJ here Asbury Park and the pine barrens... Steve Lav, black seal boiler mechanic rated expert.
Could the homeowner have any more hoarding? Give this guy props for being a professional and getting the job done in spite of the garbage around this boiler!
Steve, nice piece of work. There are a lot of subtleties in the job and you show there's a lot involved in in the plumbing trade. Two quick questions, 1) at 9mins you place a pair of vise grips on the valve. Is it to keep the valve open during soldering? 2) As you soldier it at 11 min. Is there a reason you go top to bottom instead of bottom to top? Is it just random, or is there another reason? Heat rises from bottom to top.
Looks very familiar indeed...I have two zone valves for heat, the other is for the WM water heater. I have never had to actually replace the actual valve, just the electrical head. I'm guessing you replaced the whole unit because the valve appeared to be jammed when you tried to open it manually....Sure hope I don't have this issue, mine are buried up inside the basement rafters....
I had recently replaced 2 zone valves, got some air out from pipes and still its not going ON to let water run to radiators. What does this mean? Any help please
You are a good soderrerr. I remember those exact same zone valves on my parents 1959 oil burner. What makes the water get so dirty and do you recommend flushing it every so often?
Hi Steven can a bad head cause no heat to get to the zone even if manually opened? I have no heat on second floor zone, tried purging and not much water or air coming out. Return pipe is warm but not hot like 1st floor zone pipes.
keith richards it was leaking from the gasket below the power head you can see all the rust besides the head was rusted on o could not remove it even if i wanted to
With that big truck you come loaded for bear ! You have everything but the kitchen sink on that truck ! That makes it nice because you don't have to go back to the parts house every time you need something. It's right there on the truck !
yes thats why i have that type of truck it weights 7 tons 14,500.lbs leaded and ready for service .i hate having to run for parts usally i have what i need in the truck to fix the job ,,then i restock my truck next time i go to the supply house
steve i have a question , how would you remove a t&p valve in a 40 gal water heater thats rusted in? the valve is in the top. water htr is6 yrs old, too new to get rid of. the valve is dripping water and i cant stop it. dick bailey thanks
steve i appreciate your input, will try that. have you ever run across this problem? have you ever made a video on installing a water heater start to finish? dick bailey
Don't you love the jackasses who install new boilers and don't bother installing isolation valves between the system and the boiler piping. Lack of valves makes it necessary to drain entire system. Personally I would have changed the insides of the existing body and not cut it out. They haven't changed the body of these valves in since they first came out.
Love watching your videos other cats dont go into detail about different parts and wiring and functions like you do . Keep them coming.
