Couple of my favorite vids for Stevie's vocals are "Tin Pan Alley with Jonny Copeland" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb: Live from Austin City" - they both offer unforgettable guitar work and moments - nobody views Stevie quite the same after seeing him do this song with the speech, he'd do it from the heart and differently every time, but the fact he was so open and wanted to heal other people - it isn't fake that much is so clear...it does hurt just a little bit more every time you see him after that, because you see what an amazing person he was. But it also brings you closer to him and his music which is all from the soul, so it is like having the soul of a benevolent wizard touch you every time. I keep one of those speeches as a quote next to my bed since college.

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
As someone once said about Stevie's voice, it's "like honey over gravel". This song epitomizes that analogy...

Love this performance! You should watch Life Without You performed at The Capital Theatre 1985, it's even better! You'll love it and his voice! Both performances he gives a great message just two different ones. You should watch!

I've added it to my list - and this is a perfect chance for me to listen to a same song - as ive said a few times that people have told me that the same song can sound completely different! - so im excited to test this theory

Thanks for bringing this today🎸🎶‼️ While this is a good video, it doesn't compare to this song performed at the Capitol Theatre in 1985. It has hella surprises and the audio/video quality is so much better. This version has 384K views and the Capitol Theatre one has 7.2 million views so...there is a reason for that.
You are right to notice how different his voice can sound as he has the ability to shape his voice into the best sound for each song so there are others that showcase this kind of vocalization such as another Stevie Ray original "Aint Gone 'N' To Give Up On Love" also performed at the Capitol Theatre in 1985. (that whole concert was 🔥).
I highly recommend my favorite of all time is another original called Riveria Paradise created after his own rehab and recovery and he dedicates it to all those still suffering in any way. It is soothing balm for a weary soul and a warm golden hug from this man's soul. Simply an exquisite display of a different side to his playing as performed at Austin City Limits 1989.
We are all so glad he got clean and sober and he spent the last four years of his life helping others to get on the path of recovery. His band, his brother, and countless strangers he met along the way seeking out his advice. People are still inspired to this day by his story.
Looking forward to your next experience of our beloved Stevie Ray🎸🎶‼️💙

@@Azimov-REACTS 👋✌️😊. You are most welcome and thank you for becoming a fan and keeping his legacy alive. It is due in large part to reactors such as yourself introducing him to new audiences and creating new fans going forward. For a man who only had a short 7 year run in the spotlight and has passed 33 long years ago, it is vital that this musical magician remain in his vaulted place in history.🎸🎶‼️

While most people prefer the Capital Theater version, it is fantastic, but you can really see the difference in his eyes between the two. This version you can see he’s clean & sober, as well as a completely different message. The Capital Theater version pains me to see how high he is, I actually look away most times. Therefore I am on the fence on which is a better performance. I am leaning towards this one since I know he was much happier & healthier. Love you Stevie! 💔

Im actually thinking of doing the capitol theatre version next, so i can test the theory that no same song sounds the same, and knowing this about timeline with his addition is great knowledge to have - thank you 😊

SRVfangirl~ I understand preferring his sober performances as I do as well. As mind blowing as his El Macombo performances are it still hurts me to see him so pale and sweating profusely from receiving IV fluids for dehydration prior to going on stage. He still played brilliantly. However I don't view any of his Capitol Theatre performances in that same light. This version of Life Without You was his finale and, of all the versions, this is the most inspired and magical.

@@harrietmiller3982 i guess I should clarify, it’s not really his performance that hurts to watch it’s his speech. The look in his eyes, he’s way out there. He’s performance is actually amazing.

@@Azimov-REACTS I clarified in another comment that it’s not the Capital Theater performance that’s hard to watch because the performance is absolutely amazing! It’s his speech that’s hard to watch due to the look in his eyes. So glad he got clean before he passed.

@@SRVfangirl he grew up from age 7 sneaking drinks from his parents and so his whole development, his artistry, his skill sets were all under the influence so it was who he was. So much so he was afraid that when he got sober he might not have his magic mojo still going. What we all found out, including Stevie, that he was even better, cleaner, stronger than ever before. He had been a very high level functioning user until it almost killed him. So very grateful for his sobriety and happiness those few short years prior to that fateful night😔

Not the best version. His capital theater performance is much better. You have to remember not one of Stevie‘s songs are ever done the same way twice.
