Not sure if this is actually from '71, but on the recording it's none other than Billy Preston on the organ.

I lost my favorite aunt last year. She was like a second mother to me. One of my best friends, who is more like my sister, said, "Your auntie was your bridge over troubled waters." Yes. She was. I still cry over her. I cherish the 51 years I had her in my life. Ms Franklin's version of this song makes me cherish her memory even more.

Regarding the latter, I don't relate to the song on a personal level, but I greatly appreciate the quality of her voice and her musical talent. Also, the playing of the electric organ by Billy Preston is superlative. He was a Master.

Six years ago, my husband passed away suddenly and young, he adored Aretha - loved her as I do, I had Bridge Over Troubled Water playing while his casket was leaving the church, it sounded glorius in the church and bought me peace knowing he was leaving with Aretha singing

There is no better version than Aretha's but Wille Nelson's Olympic game version is as good. Two completely different styles but both fantastic. It is a testimony how great artists can interpret a song so differently but equally as good. It's all about the emotion they convey.
