By far the best discussion I've watched recently. Truly bitter truths. The 10 mins summarized the problems very well. Patriots have also become chest thumping, vain, clueless, lazy people - me included. We continue to live off the glory of our ancestors - who worked very hard, more than anything else. Today, we don't even understand the meaning of "Done." The top 1% is holding the bottom 99% down. These bitter truths are bitter pills we all need to take if we want to be net generators of anything.

This is one of the most powerful, profound conversation ever of Rajiv Malhotra with someone, as successful and true Indian patriot and down-to-earth as Shri Mukesh Chattar, who is pained to state the bitter truths about the failure of Indian elites, politicians, industrialists, academicians, so-called intellectuals (better referred to as bankruptuals) to come to grasp with the realities, who all had their heads in the sand, who refused to see the reality, who were in perpetual denial, who have had no vision, who are not able to capitalize on the intelligence of Indians. If Narendra Modi does not watch this video, he's going to miss out on something very very profound, something that is close to his heart and something that somehow is not included in his visionary agenda. Very sad if he is not shown this. Rajiv Malhotra's love for India and his tapasya touch your heartstrings. Notwithstanding the cold-shouldering by the ruling elite for so many years whom he supported wholeheartedly since 2014, he is still not giving up in trying to reach out to them. The shrill to save India is coming straight form his heart is so loud and being echoed by so many well-meaning people, that if it does not reach Narendra Modi, it's India's complete misfortune. And, it must be made clear that a person of the extraordinary caliber like Rajiv Malhotra is born perhaps once every few hundred years. By keeping him away from Narendra Modi, the so-called patriots have caused harm to India that they profess to love.

Having lived in China for a few years, I can certainly say that business capital and entrepreneurs are available in China very easily. The government actively promotes and tacitly supports Chinese entrepreneurs to invest and setup projects in collaboration with Foreigners. This provides them with knowhow, work ethics, systems and also lends softpower as these foreigners' success stories are given wide coverage. Awards and recognition ceremonies are abundant creating an air of achievement and success. Apart from political space, one feels China ecosystem works very closely with creators to setup and excel.

    So spot on.
Education has devolved, indian schools and colleges do more harm than good. Teaching has become a career for failed graduates, it is not even just the money but bureaucracy and hierarchy.
Teachers spend a lot of time and effort in confusing the student and covering up their own complete incapablities.
I would prefer to have gone to a teacherless university program.

    • @AshwinSriram
      @AshwinSriram 3 года назад +1

I was invited to observe a private school in India. I won't go into details out of respect for the people involved in the project. I just found it amazing to learn that some of the teachers who teach in such environments don't even know the fundamentals of their particular subject matter and this aspect is widely acknowledged by the people running the school. They told me this happens in every school in the town (and this is a popular union territory mind you, not some remote village in India). Everyone knows this problem exists across India but they feel powerless because to attract good teachers to town-schools means you have to pay them a premium and that is not possible for modest schools in the country. So in this manner, the children are often taught wrong things.
The education system in India is basically a hangover from the colonial times which is why our filtered history, our concept of governance, our laws, social sciences, "moral science" and grading system etc reflect the same outdated British factory model of education. Our children are basically brainwashed from a young age to think highly about British Generals and Viceroys and Aurangazebs of the world while they learn very little about ancient Indian kings, about ancient India's own contributions to metallurgy, mathematics, astronomy, philosophy etc... so children grow up with a heavy inferiority complex and are made to think everything 'good' comes from the West. These same children who are taught some poor fundamentals in a rigid school environment are asked to "innovate" as adults which is not possible. Innovation comes from opening the door to creativity and curiosity in a child - it comes from critical thinking and creative thinking which are both there naturally in children but is suppressed by the outdated school models we have in place. Unless the way we educate our children changes radically, India will snail along in a slow pace trying to catch up to a world that is moving far ahead into AI and beyond.
Unfortunately our politicians and common-man are still playing games with castes and slogans whereas communist-authoritarian-harsh regimes like China don't have to deal with redtape and corrupt bureaucratic levers to impose basic policies and laws. Here in India, to even change one small policy you need to fight for 10 months with opposition parties and the media. Just see how much drama a simple "farm law reform" created in this country. That is why we don't progress - we are still trapped in our petty divisive games and our media is only interested in adding fuel to the fire to improve its own ratings - they are least interested in seeing the country grow. Ancient India was a hub of knowledge but modern India is a graveyard for the same. I appreciate what Rajiv and others are doing in their work to educate people but I am afraid many Indians don't even have a basic awareness of these deep problems - they are busy consuming Bollywood dramas.

    1. Unskilled youth could be a liability. We are tending towards Vishwa-coolie, not Vishwaguru.
    2. We need to have a wholistic view from pure research to manufacturing. Integrate industry-education-research.

Rajiv ji and Mukesh ji, thank you very much for this wonderful and soul-shaking conversation and it should shake up and wake up many of us to get up and get our act together. We have a real shortage of top class visionaries, strategic and pragmatic thinkers, and leaders in many prominent fields, levels and technologies. We have many intelligent, clever and motivated individuals, but they are dispersed, fractured, lacking in certain product development skills, financial and economic skills (for example, how to generate value and capital), lacking a common platform to share their ideas a d work collaboratively, are risk averse due to the basic mindset, and thereby operating in silos and not collectively moving forward. A critical mass of confident tech leaders with risk taking appetite, who are ready to get their hands dirty in solving problems, and are capable of inspiring people is the need of the hour. We need Kalams, Dhawans, Bhabhas, Sarabhais, Swaminathans, in certain key scientific areas and we can achieve significant results.

20:48 This point is gold. I hope this is understood by more Indians.
There is no loss of dignity in absorbing from out-groups. In fact, this is the foundation of all successful societies of all time.
This whole trade-off young people seem to think they _have to_ make between re-igniting the Indian civilization vs being technologically savvy is completely unnecessary.
In fact, not creating a blend between the two (civilizationalism & scientific leadership) will debilitate the efforts of both pursuits.
The Chinese have created a synthesis of the two & had mutually reinforcing results.

Knowledgeable, higher calibre ministers could have been inducted, but were deliberately excluded. The NEP is mediocre, and counterproductive, especially with the emphasis on Western inspired Humanities even in the IIT's. Niti Ayog is headed by vainglorious, low commitment Westernised Oriental Gentlemen. Political dominance over the territorial state is the obsession of the leadership. They apparently seek validation from India's civilizational enemies. No Hindu grievance be it RTE or temple management has received the slightest attention, whilst the PM is available for settlement of inter denominational disputes amongst Kerala churches. No committee to review the Colonial Marxist history. Madrasas and the communal universities receive the highest ever encouragement.

Few appear better remnants of the colonial past than the Niti Ayog brass, and it is no accident that great ideas from original thinkers gather dust with, or alongside, those people.

Sir, I read a lot about Peak oil. That the petroleum reserves in the world would be depleted very soon. But I don't see any concern in the Indian think tanks. Is imminent depletion of Petroleum reserves a reality or a hoax.

Can India partner/invest in Taiwan semiconductor industry in exchange for standing with them against China? With Indian brains working w Taiwan could gain India some lost ground in semiconductors. India investing in AI, pharma, avionics, digital egovernance as your earlier guest mentioned yesterday will provide well paying jobs and help quell some of the destructive breaking India forces. Better jobs, opportunities can uplift everyone and then why would anyone want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg?

I prefer not to compete with China in areas where they are naturally and physically better. Large scale manufacturing, I prefer to leave it up to China and India focus on other areas. I see a huge scope for "entertainment/hospitality" industry in future. Indians could do a better job here.

I would rather question the premise of carbon reduction by one third .... the climate change is something that may change over hundreds of years due to several factors and that has happened in the past ... now the movement of masses to the cities are more responsible for the environmental menace than anything else ... this climate change is thus a corporate agenda and the surveillance society ... if masses were scattered in villages then the cost of surveillance would have been humongous ... we can just change the way we think about climate and then change the narrative on battery technology ... the hazard of battery waste is going to another menace and it cannot be perceived as a only thing to run after

I know my comment won't get a like but I will once again state facts. India is in league of super power now. Few examples I will share in all areas of technology that the guest pointed out. There are many many examples but I will only state a few.
Materials : last year's test of drdos hypersonic missile is a shinning example. I believe india thanks to drdo is now leading the world in hypersonic technology. The successful test of drdo hyoersonic vehicle required very powerful computing capabilities to test very complex algorithms that works in hypersonic flight. Plus development of all the new complex electronics, guidance, navigation and control systems. Because electronics, guidance navigation and control system that works with super sonic missiles would fail to work in a hypersonic vehicle. All flight control laws and algorithms that work at supersonic speed which themselves are complex won't work in a hypersonic flight regime.
For a hypersonic vehicle to cruise you require a scram jet engine. In this very complex propulsion system the hypersonic wind that comes into the combustion chamber has to be burnt with the fuel at supersonic speeds. Most of the time flame gets extinguished. Now drdo has succeed in developing. It is a major breakthrough in propulsion technology, aero dynamics technology and a major breakthrough in technology of materials. As hypersonic vehicle travels the temperature reaches as high as 1500 degree Celsius on the skin of the hypersonic vehicle. To sustain such temperatures drdo had to develop materials like carbon carbon silicon carbide and other wide variety of super alloys and other things who's information is not available in public domain. In order to craft such futuristic hypersonic vehicle you need very complex machinary and very highly skilled man power.
Artificial intelligence : Our genius scientists have developed many advanced technologies. Mars space craft also called mom was a completely autonomous. It could take its own decisions without requiring any human intervention. As time delay between signal from mom to earth is more than 20 minutes. So our Mars space craft was capable of self diagnostics and recovery. It was capable of correcting any errors in the system by itself and executing all of its functions with remarkable precision. Looking after the health of all the sub systems components and instruments while guiding controlling and navigation space craft at the same. Plus before our Mars mission was launched the entire journey of the space craft including all of its systems how they are functioning waa simulated through very complex computer simulations. An entire path the space craft would take was chalked out. So even without going to Mars our genius scientists with help of their advanced technologies were able to simulate all of these aspects. Japan with quote unquote with far superior fabrication technololgy haven't been able to achieve such accomplishment. Chinese fiber glass mock ups as semiconductor chips.
on army day this year india showcased state of the art swarm drones technology. These drones are all self aware. one drone does not follow the other drone. each drone have the ability to take their own decisions based on threat. It uses adaptive artificial intelligence, edge computing, network centric approach, satellite based technologies, remote sensing many advance sensors image processing etc really complex stuff thar even I cannot explain.
Quantum technology : Drdo last year shocked the world by sucesfully demonstrating quantum communication. Secure communications are vital for defence and strategic agencies worldwide and distribution of encryption keys from time to time is an important requirement. Sharing of keys over the air or wired links requires encryption which in turn requires encryption keys to be pre-shared. The DRDO had undertaken the project for development of the technology exclusively for Indian armed forces.
The work being done at DRDO will be used to enable start-ups and SMEs in the domain of quantum information technologies. The technology will also serve to define standards and crypto policies that can leverage QKD system in a unified Cipher Policy Committee (CPC) framework for more secure and pragmatic key management for current and future military cryptographic systems.
Drdo has established a galium nitride foundary that will be very helpful in area of electronics, sensors , radars etc.
China is a communist regime that is very insecure. People who are most insecure make most noise. Everyone wants to manufacture things in china because labour is dirt cheap and with no labour laws. Labour can be exploited to the hearts content by communist regime.
Western countires are masters of propaganda and psychological warfare. China has now heavily invested in psychological warfare. They know how to win in minds of people.
China hasn'twon even a single war either at land air or sea. While indian armed forces have the most decorated post world war 2 millitary history. Yet most indian believe china can actually win a war against india. Well chiense have won the war in the mind.
I sincerely hope china continues to manufacture stuff for the world. Chiense have destroyed their ecology and their environment. These computer rams circuits what not is some of the most toxic industries the man has ever known. India must carefully choose what it should manufacture in large scale. And make wise decisions for our environment.

With due respect to Mukesh ji..he said Namo has that passion but others around him lack.but sir a great leader's one of the quality and success also depends on the kind of team/teams he/she builds...lot of social engineering electioneering on top of it good will towards modi is what is driving his success...othewise Modi's governance is extremely centralized around his core coterie of 4-5ministries that's it..all second rung leaders are just tweet masters..there is no institutions building, no discussions or debating ideas...just u left wing u right wing u hindu u muslim kind of twitter wars.....from tunnel to train to statues opening to satellite launching modi will be there will lot of PR..the problem we have today is lack of objective analysis on both so called right and left....I still suppport Modi, but he is also at fault on how he built his governance style and wasting mandate and time...

Some wrong facts here. Indians are doing high-end work also. IBM's India team also is doing high-end work. It is wrong stereo-type that US based Indians are doing high-end and Indian people are doing only low end. IBM setting separate entity for AI and Cloud. India will have big center. But even high-end work is done for foreign roadmap.
So, Vishwa-coolie is correct word, even for high-end work.
Real gap is your work Rajiv ji- Real gap is low self esteem, Being Different etc. This makes big difference in having courage to chart own path.
There is huge incentive for being lazy and low risk taker. The money inflation due to services sector has killed all sectors.
