Indian entrepreneurs were always global. It is the govt of India babus who created ghettos for them. These IAS, IPS, Judiciary. Municipality and overall politics continued from the colonial-era with Sharia has been the reason for oppression of Indian entrepreneurship. To give you an example, 95% of the world Diamond trade is controlled by a tiny percentage of Gujarati Jains. Did you know that?
Sir, Malhotraji we thank you whole heartedly for bringing such a highly intellectual n with futuristic vision..Actually we are honoured to be part of your great n frank interaction or discussion.Thanksonce again as your follower...May be I only at periphery of this AI fantasy.
Sir,Mr.Rajiv,When I first read your book The Battle for Sanskrit ,thereafter Braking India I guessed you are no ordinary being. You have opened the doors for the youth of this country. Our Vedic tradition of acquiring knowledge should produce AI engineers of pure Satvik,of absolute Purity. We don’t need terrorist minded youth,we need youth of moral character. The Youth’s algorithms will be pure .
I knew about Rajivji as a master, but this other gentleman is no less, particularly his answering his own question as to why others on the Kurukshetra battlefield didn't interfere between Lord Krishna and Arjuna talking between themselves for hours by attacking them and the answer being that Lord Krishna must have created some Maya to prevent that - this is brilliant!
Rajiv Malhotra keeps his discussions lively in scientific temper and remains focused on betterment of all humanity. I'm amazed he never gets bogged down by the narrow mindset of religious exclusivism imposed by evangelism/communist dogmas.
This conversation on AI was on a different level. More human based. Ultimately , any invention/ discovery SHOULD be aimed at improving the HUMAN SELF , instead of make him cringe within. I hope and pray that more people like you and Raghuji take AI in India to a different level altogether , which will be of ASSISTANCE to us and not aim at creating AI based international oneupmanship or even AI wars
Shri Rajiv ji, knows Bharatiya well and hence his concerns are genuine. Few Bharatiya are always fond of living in some paradise n keep thinking all is well
Interview starts with Occidental ideology of Cambrian period & ends with Oriental philosophy of Krishna Arjuna samvaad in Sandhi kaal between Dvapara yuga & Kali yuga.
Ecstasy is impossible through artificial mean. Yoga has to be performed by each individual to have real experience of uniting with cosmos. AI will leads to frustration, if tried in dhyana.
It seems like some of the technocrats that are heads of tech corporations in India lack foresight. Rajiv Malhotra's questions exposed the lack of foresightedness of Indian executives. Sad that these people only benefitted themselves from labour arbitrage but did no investment on research and development. No wonder why Infosys took years to code Goods and Sales Tax Network(GSTN).
We, including our children are already addicted to staring into i pads and i phones even without any involvement of A. I . It seems it already has an effect on our brain endorphins.
For me the best part of conversation is in the end (at 59min )in which discussion is about how AI in brain can be used to make you feel different feeling and can manipulate your harmones and biological body.
This guest has most interesting thoughts than every guest which has come on this channel ( videos that I have watched) and was matching up to the caliber of Mr. Malhotra.
Thank you Rajiv Malhotra Ji for presenting such a wonderful and enlightening conversation. It is indeed very rare to get an opportunity such as this to listen to such great personalities. Pray to the Almighty to bless both of you.
Rajiv ji you asked - "What did China do, that India didn't get right?" In my view, the answer is simple. They get educated in their own mother tongue. We get educated in a foreign language - English. Education in a foreign language is what is hampering original innovation, since English-medium education and current curriculum is designed to create drones, not innovators, leaders or thinkers at the scale mother tongue education could have.
Good discussion. Shri Rajivji as usual is at his best doing whatever he can to wake up the Indian intelligentsia. While Dr Raghu makes imp points there's a reticence in accepting the dire situation India is in wrt technology. To compete with the biggies in AI, we need the right policy, investment, supply and demand side ecosystem. And most of these have substantial gestation periods requiring National vision, commitment, etc. In an AI driven economy how do you align the rest of the sectors without people sliding down is something that should be bothering our leaders and technocrats. So better start by accepting the baseline and move ahead.
Around 28:00 Mr. Malhotra offers a key puzzle to the model of us "nueva" Indian intellectuals - we have Sanskrit within us and we have AI within us, but we don't connect, displaying a huge cleavage in the profile. A lot of this stems from our deep cultural practices and understandings (I see it everyday in my life all around me). Culturally, we learn the Mantras by rote (you will hear a majority of Swamis endorsing that their student knows the Bhagvad Gita by heart - just no more than that) , chant it in unison or competition in temples, do the "Niyamas" mechanically; the AI is, yet again, another cultural push of social standing and earning vast wealth (believe me behind all that pretense of piety there is a huge materialistic hunger). Somewhere, all the great meanings of the Mantras have been lost in the shine of an English cognitive capture and the sweep of history. The Sanskrit language of yore has a cognition of a vast dimension - completely unexplored by us - you can't get more than six names in such a vast time of history to have explored the oldest of mankind's text, the Rk Veda. A fundamental question here is - what should be the model of the human being be (government and citizen), both as a perpetrator and consumer of the inevitable AI? ( it was once a question also asked of the threat coming from nuclear science)
At a time when the speed of light is being invoked in parallel with the analogy of a marathon, shouldn't we be asking when will there be a paradigm shift from the 'Hindu rate of growth' syndrome?
🙏 Great info. I am sure as a cancer superspecialist that AI in times to come shall integrate maths, physics, computing as well as Biology. I have evolved a model of Spiritual biology which can easily integrate consciousness into computing in EVOLUTION of computing.
My thought on keeping the balance- In a society or country thr should always be more engineer ( all ) than MBA blokes. The natural balance will be maintained.
He has not given a single straight or satisfactory answer even I understood what Malhotra sir was asking but this man disappointed 😢 me with his answer
Both Atri and Thomas need to listen to this conversation at least 5-6 times to understand the clear - albeit unorthodox - reasoning shown by Shri Raghupathi Cavale. If you still can't grasp the meaning then look into the mirror to locate where the gap lies. For greater clarification, keep in mind the education level and far reaching achievements of him in the field of computer sciences and related fields.
Brilliant, Thought provoking and Empowering presentation. India has already lost precious time. Time is now to leap ahead, catch up and script a AI, Quantum technology, Internet of Things and Behaviour, and other emerging cutting edge technologies road map for the next 10 years. Thank you. Jai Hind. India First. Vande Mataram.
At around @48:00 it is disappointing that the guest speaker says that Indians are heading those companies that own India’s data and that India has thus chosen to integrate with rest of the world as if who owns the data does not matter. Nevertheless, he is a respected scholar in this area and would like to hear more of his views.
AI should be introduced bin indian bureaucracy and judiciary for quick decision making and getting access to free, fair and instant justice. It is future opportunity for the world.
The economic impact of AI and the increase in economic disparity giving rise to populism is critical (in the nuclear sense) for the socio-economic welfare of the country.
Sir, in a recent move earlier this year, The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in its approval handbook for 2021-2022, has made Class 12 Physics and Mathematics subjects optional for admission to undergraduate engineering courses like BE, B. Tech. My question - How will we produce better Engineers and tech Entrepreneurs if they haven't studied basics on Mathematics or Physics? This is to Mr. Cavale's point on understanding of Physics and Mathematics as a 'must' for students.
Very nice conversation. But can we (Hindus and Indians) afford the relaxation shown by Hon Mr Raghu? With tech evolving so fast, 2 years late is just 1 km of a marathon or 40kms of a marathon? not catching basis technology on time will have impact on subsequent technologies too. what about that? I did not hear clear answer from Mr Raghu on Indian Industrialist's responsibility for Nation building. I still happy to hear the other side so calmly by Mr Raghu. He has very much clarity on his beliefs.
Sir the way things are going I saw no way humanity can save itself from flare of diruptive AI and even may be threatening very existence of humankind as we know it today
Regarding the concern about virtual reality, brain chips and people moving away from Yoga: According to ptanjali yogasutra 4:1 janma (birth) ,oshadhi (drugs, chemicals),mantra, tapas and samaadhi can generate siddhis.. these siddhis are considered to be obstacles and distractions to the real kaivalya and nirbeeja samaadhi which is the real goal of Yoga.

job redundancy through automation at large and automation of intelligence in particular is something i have been discussing with people , and no one seems to get it . AI can eliminate meaning from human life , and we are unable to project our imagination in any manner to look at possible solutions. we are still struggling with binary thought and an inability to adapt to grow beyond supply demand economics . the answer will take its time in the coming , but then I hope we are not picnicking on a volcano.
We are populous, but unlike China, more than 65% population is agro based. There is 1 farmer behind every 1.5 person, we have. Whatever we wish major portion of India's outlay will be consumed in subsidies, MSP of grains and vegetables. However inefficient but we have net surplus of grains and vegetables. Even though the population is getting stabilised, candidly put there is fear and we'll founded
Islamisation of India. A lot of time, resource, govt policies will be consumed in addressing farmers related issues. This merathon mentioned in the discussion, although long, but would be finished faster than we think it would last. It would be finished by sprinter like China. Dr Malhotra views are overseeing, while dr cavale is seeing from inside out. Israel has made use of AI in agriculture, they needed it. Looking India in perspective from demographic divide, North, South East and West there is no uniting thread. In short focus on IT, AI coding etc will remain in private sector domain for next few decades. By then we would have lost the race and probably be colonised in the sense Dr Malhotra perceive. It may sound pessimistic, but that's the situation today with no silver lining seen in the horizon.
AI is not one skill. The data pipeline is the biggest part. Most critical part is the "language" we define. ex: Indian centrists call themselves as right wing. The AI algorithms give meaning to words and make it fixed by using wikipedia for 'data training'. So Indians carelessly using negative words to define themselves, is a problem. Indian media calling Indians as Nazis carefully is a problem. Will worsen due to AI.
Rajiv ji, an interview with few selected youths working in the area of AI would be much more informative and fruitful. May be students ask questions to you or vice versa. Raghu lacks vision.
For the next 2 decades, India needs to develop a DHARMIC AI - not AI that is biased with western models of human condition, ethics. and wanton consumption. Raghu is hugely mistaken on the national security and integrity aspect. He has head in sand and keeps repeating 10K startups etc. Bet they all run on AWS/Azure. Sundar Pichai etc. will do zilch, these foreign companies are only answerable to their greed and to their govt (which they can manipulate thru politicians)
This guy works for a leading company? He’s not very sharp. His arguments are so weak, almost wishful thinking. A lot of general statements, but missing the important concerns.

I disagree with Raghupati ji regarding industries not collaborating. It's not that people don't trust. Industries have their vested interest n greed for not doing so.
The Infosys head Raghupathi has wishy washy justification about lack of R&D at Infosys- 'market forces excuses', ...many small couple of million dollar startups in Bengaluru.... some of them will go on to become the next TCS , wipros , infosys..." , talks about Indian IBM CEO etc -- what a sad job seeker mind set he has . (I respect him and i have nothing personal against him) . Rajivji, may i suggest you to interview the Risk takers in life? Breakthrough will not come from people like him(with all due respect) who have spent their entire life (and will continue to live rest of their life) in a secure job based on Academic excellence and its application as an employee. Founders(Not hired Indian CEOs) of Google, Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Facebook, instagram , linkedIn etc are some of the examples to prove my point.... Thank you!
I think this guest lacks good vision. He is doesn’t appear to be out of box thinker. Not having any grand solutions to the problems and he is just giving some round about answers.
Is search algorithm and top data searches in Google or other social media biased, selective, manipulative. Compare the behaviour and agenda of big corporations led online medium, tgere is heavy bias. Now time has come to nail theboroblem and make online social media neutral, not harm sovereignty and integrity of nations, region, religion etc. which at present seems heavily biased and challenging.
