Your videos on these chainless stitches are brilliant and just what I need for the granny square blanket I'm making - this is the clearest demo of how to do this I've found. Thank you.
You’re welcome! And thank you for your lovely comments, I’m so pleased you found my videos at the right time 😊. Good luck with your blanket - I’m making a solid granny square blanket at the moment, there’s something so satisfying about making squares isn’t there??👩🏻🦼Wheelie
Tried this a few times but the slipknot keeps moving to the top of my stitch when I try this... not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'll keep practicing!
Hi there, hm… the slip knot from the start is actually meant to sit at the top of the finished stitch. Is it possible you’ve got it right? Do you want to email me a photo so I can check what’s going on? I’ll be able to get you on the right track if you’ve got a problem and reassure you if you’re actually already a crochet genius 😊 it’s wheeliemadeit(at symbol)gmail.com 👩🏻🦼Wheelie
Hi Natasha 😊 If you open the description/info box under this video it’s in there (depending on the device you’re watching on, you open it by clicking the upside down ^ or sometimes there’s the start of a sentence visible and you need to select ‘view more’) but much easier, I’ll paste the link for you: ruclips.net/video/Gh2dlROiTgI/видео.html 😃👩🏻🦼 Wheelie
Hi Wendy, there are a couple of techniques you can use to start a new round without changing colour. There’s just chaining (either 2 or 3, depending how high your stitches are) or you can use an ‘alternative starting double crochet’ or ‘chainless starting stitch’ (there are a few different names used - and there are a few different techniques). The 2 chainless starting techniques I like, are 1. stacking 2 single crochets on top of each other and 2. wrapping the working loop around my hook and working a double crochet with the loop. I don’t have a video tutorial that is just about these techniques but I have a video for a giant granny square blanket, and I show both of these methods in that video, at the start of the first round (Crochet Baby Blanket - Filet Pattern Granny Square with a Pretty Border ruclips.net/video/OI1VWHjEyY4/видео.html). Or you could look at Mooogly’s video - she doesn’t cover the stacked single crochets, just the other method (www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjdzJzQ1M_4AhXLT2wGHfvUBYcQFnoECAMQAw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DXFK1tTRBugQ&usg=AOvVaw3ge1c8otvw1bjDPyg0BeZG). I hope that’s some help! 😊 Wheelie 👩🏻🦼
It’s so strange. I have been crocheting since I was 12 (I’m now 65) and I have done many granny squares in the past but now I’ve got a brain block and can’t remember what I used to do. I do know that I have never turned my work 🤪. I love seeing all the ways folks are doing things. There are so many different ways of holding the yarn and the hook, none of them just like mine. Just goes to show it’s the finished look that matters not the way it’s done. Thanks for your prompt reply and your wonderfully clear tutorials.
@@wendys6322 You sound like me, I’m always interested to see how many different ways there are of doing the same thing - I love that youtube has let me see crochet from all over the world, there’s so much variety and I feel like there’s always more to learn 😊 If you want a refresher on a simple granny square, just to get your brain back into granny square mode, you might like the Bella Coco or Jayda In Stitches granny square tutorials, they’re both very clear and easy to follow, (Bella Coco uses UK terms, Jayda in Stitches uses US terms) Lovely to meet you - and I’m so glad you like my videos! 😊 Wheelie
