Good educational video, thanks for explaining not only what each setting does but common sensible values to start experimenting with.

Awesome video. Great explanations of what the settings do too! I'm amazed -- I recently got a cheap Chinese Prusa knockoff for 150 dollars (Anet A8) and haven't touched any settings... That thing prints solid! I've done around 4 hours of prints on it, and my only failed print so far occurred when I set the layer height well below the printer's capability. I think it couldn't extrude a small enough amount of plastic, so the nozzle was just digging through what was already printed.

Be careful! Unless you have done mods to prevent it. Those things start on fire and the connectors melt. Keep a smoke detector nearby.

Another great video. I learned a lot and took some notes. Do you have any plans to do any videos on common problems with prints? Such as stringing, warped bottom or top layers, etc. I have heard people print some type of cube for calibration. Is that only thing I should print to make sure my settings are correct?

Great video! If you haven't already, could you make some videos about how to diagnose prints and what actions to take to get the best results?
One thing I find most slicers lacking is custom support. Simplify 3D has that, but the only free software I've seen that has that function is Flashprint. I'm using Cura and it works great 99 % of the time, but in some cases it just refuses to calculate support even though it detects overhangs. Not including custom support is like making a self-driving car without a steering wheel.

I'm considering a post about how to fix and diagnose your prints, but there are literally so many ways prints can go wrong and way to fix them that I could spend hours and still wouldn't cover it all. But I do want to do it, so maybe I'll make a series, each video about a specific problem.

Maybe let people submit pictures of failed prints and pick a few examples to talk about. Crowd sourcing the topic could be a good way to start since, like you said, it's difficult to just pick an error at random and start talking.

I love that idea. I'll have to make a video calling for pictures.

I think you should get the Prussia i3 mk2 if you can acquire the funds. Supposed to be one of the best for the money and the 4 color upgrade for an additional 200 bucks is now out of beta testing.

    Thanks for the great video!
You didn't mention the option of using proprietary slicer software from your printer manufacturer like XYZWare - which mostly seems to have the esoteric parameters set correctly for your specific printer. I guess the Windows 10 "3D Builder" software really is just a slicer too? Also, doesn't the proprietary filament (with included chip) that XYZPrinting requires have some filament specific parameters (like optimal temperature) in it too - that the printer must pick up at actual print time, outside of (or overriding?) just what's in the G-code?
So far I've printed everything on my new Da Vinci printer with the default "Good" quality parameters, with generally great results. (Embarrassingly I only lost one print to a clogged nozzle, because I didn't understand how often I was supposed to go through the head cleaning procedure. Their instructions about that were only included in their "optional" video tutorials... Live and learn)!
Happy New Year and keep up the great work!

I know you can 3D print from Builder, but they accomplish that by hiding the slicer as a driver software so technically any 3D software can export to your 3D printer. however, only over USB so I've actually never tried it. And now I feel like an idiot for not trying it.

I tried it out based on his recommendation, but it updated it's version and the download link moved, then I found it, but it only worked with their printers and... I don't know. It looks good, but i haven't been able to get my fingers into it.
