Thanks Porsche for maintaining the 2+2 seaters in the 911 series until today. I first owned the 911 Turbo S in 1999 used to bring along my children at the rear seats with my wife at the passenger seat. After several years i keep on upgrading to the latest version and now it’s about time I upgrade to this 2021 version. Though at this age 62 now, 911 Turbo S is alway my first preference above its contenders, as it’s convenient, i use as a daily car to office. Over the weekend now i bring along my grand children at the rear seats, my children have their own choice of supercars hihi.. I am looking forward for this 2021 model landed in my country. This car has small cc engines but the power is better than the bigger cc engines and with such small cc engines, i pay less roadtax annually in ky country. The roadtax for a bigger cc engine cars of above 5,000 cc are extremely very high, no point of paying high premium to the government. Congratulations Porche. You guys are really really marvellous. Thanks..😬💪💕
It's only overpriced if you can't afford it, PERIOD. To a multimillionaire, buying a supercar is no different to an average person buying a Toyota Prius.
What car is more of a technological marvel than a Porsche 911? That's really a stupid question. There isn't one. Period; full stop. The Porsche 911 is perfection.
Ferrari is so far ahead of everyone else when it comes to technological advancements that it's not even funny!!! Literally everybody says it's mind blowing because there is so much tech happening behind the scenes that it should feel super disconnected and like the car is driving itself. However it's the polar opposite, it feels organic and alive!!! Truly working with you to let you make the car do whatever you want. They have always been the king, and for a while, others started to catch up. But now all things are right again in the world and Ferrari sits atop The throne of the super/hyper car world!!!
The clear choice of a technological marvel is the almighty Smart Fortwo! I mean, look at it, and yet it doesn't fall over in the first bend! I know, impressive.
every time Porsche reveals a new product, they raise the bar higher. and this segment (911 Turbo - AMG GTC - McLaren 570 S) is becoming more exciting. every time I think about choosing between them, I don't know but the Porsche is really really a special one ... even though the GTC sounds way much better. yes Porsche magical DNA is the reason !
I was gonna comment on that belt buckle, but you beat me to it in the 911.2T FDR episode lol.I can't think of another car that qualifies as a Technological Marvel ... certainly not as a complete package or at the same range.I have to say Bugatti, it takes some crazy scientists to build cars that goes over 240mph reliably over & over again ... but that's a completely different tax bracket (In Charlie Sheen's voice).BMW & Cadillac also comes to mind when it comes to chassis innovation with the new 7 & CT6 respectively, but they kinda under deliver in other areas ... To be honest, I wasn't gonna say tesla or any other EV for that matter.Love the new dubs on the 911.2T ...As always, excellent work M!
My technical marvel is the 2017 Acura NSX. It's a tech no phobes dream come true with its Porsche-like handling and it's use of torque vectoring. I don't know if it can beat a 911 turbo S but I do know you ain't gonna lose it.
It's a hybrid so I don't know if it qualifies, but I find it astonishing Honda is able to get 48 mpg out of the Accord. Not a sports car, but for the price point, for a car with that much space, with livable levels of refinement and driving dynamics. 48 mpg combined! After 4 or 5 fill ups it's time for an oil change! Also the Ford Super Duty. For $41,000 with a full warranty you can get a vehicle with 440 horses and 925 torques! And it rides okay! Really!
I would say the Mercedes GT but then again I could be wrong. I'd have to look into that one to really compare. I honestly can't think of comparable car in this segment that would feel as old school for a new school buy or enthusiast. Porsche just takes the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" saying to a level where it just fits right in between. best of both!
The 2017 911 pretty much reused the same features that you highlighted like the 4 wheel steering and dynamic boost from the Nissan 300ZX from the 90's. (4 wheel steering was called HICAS and the dynamic boost was just 2 turbos) So in a way, it's not really a spaceship car because it just reused tech from 30 years ago. The 300ZX was a spaceship car. I can't say what a spaceship car would be today because any car with interesting features are some form of electric by either full electric or a hybrid of some sort like the NSX.
wow I just knew that from you !! I was thinking that Porsche invented the rear wheel steering system when they developed the 918 Spyder !!, now Porsches - Cadillac CT6 - Ferrari F12 TDF - AMG GTR - BMW 7er - and I think Lexus LC are using the rear wheel steering systems .. it's spreading really quick but why so late?
Dude, chill out. The two main features MotoMan pointed out was the 4 wheel steering and dynamic boost making it seem it was revolutionary, new, and high tech calling it a "spaceship car" because it is so fancy yet my 300ZX from 30 years ago also had 4 wheel steering, same direction at high speed, opposite direction at low speed, and dynamic boosting so like I already said, after already owning a car that does 4 wheel steering and dynamic boosting it's really not that new and exciting to me. What you and klausgev said was true though, apparently Nissan reused that tech from the 80's Porsche. I didn't know though because I wasn't around in the 80's therefore don't know much about 80's cars because I'm not really into them but either way, it's old technology so it doesn't change anything I just said. All I'm doing is telling people that this tech has already been around and isn't new by any means. I never said Nissan is better than Porsche, that's obviously not true because their cars are way cheaper and in a totally different class so you trying to compare "Nissan vs Porsche" is really just making you look like a disgruntled Porsche fanboy instead of a real car enthusiast. Sad.
Yup, but if they can improve on it using newer tech then can you imagine the possibilities? Especially now that computers can react soooooo much faster than they used to. It's like VR. It was a thing in the 80's but it sucked so it kinda died out but now that technology has evolved it has made it possible to work leaps and bounds better than originally thought possible and has had a huge comeback. I really hope the same would be for 4-wheel steering. We've hit the horsepower ceiling already so hopefully manufactures will now be focusing on handling. I really think with ABS, TCS, and ESC/ESP/DSC with 4-wheel steering could make cars handle like in friggen arcade racing games! haha
To anyone who wanted to mention electric cars as being more technologically marvelous, I just want to point out that an electric motor has basically one moving part. Add to that the fact that most EVs also lack multiple gears etc, and obviously no turbo or superchargers. Also an all wheel drive EV usually has a separate motor for front and rear so it doesn’t need to distribute power from one power plant to four corners. And finally all petrol powered cars already include batteries and starter motors and are able to charge their own batteries. Not saying EVs aren’t interesting, fast, and to be honest also necessary. They are all of those things. But marvelous? Or even new? Not really. They have been around for ages and ages. Only difference now is they are becoming more capable and we see an increasing need for them too. But this 911 Turbo is a whole world of tech beyond an EV in my opinion and as more people switch to EV, machines like this 911 Turbo may never be outdone in terms of engineering challenge and complexity. But only time will tell.
Not better, but interestingly the Rolls Royce Ghost uses topographical navigation to help the transmission know when a downshift will be necessary before the car gets to that point on the road...
Hmmm, to me that sounds very unnecessary. The only way I see that useful is if the senses you're going to rolling down a hill for a long time, it will keep a gear so you're using engine brake instead of fading (or even overheating) your brakes, or on a racetrack (almost everyone would rather shift themselves at the track anyway?).
The 918 (and Laferrari and P1) is probably more advanced. The hybrid and plug in electric system is quite complex. The new Honda NSX as well. Since it does not have plug in capability, it has to generate it's own electricity. Inside wheel braking while cornering helps it does this, so that it will never run out of battery (or that's what is being claimed).
Ferrari 488 GTB for sure. Similar engine technology but also has a more advanced traction and stability system in the form of side slip control which links suspension, differential and engine parameters.
pagani huayra at the time it was first built , active aero , one or the first supercars to go to turbocharging plus the car was a work of art , omg have you seen the interior
Isn't the fastest car in the world, but it doesn't matter, this car is the most balanced even without a rear mid-engine. I really like how Porsche invest time put technology into this car.
I'd say the new 718 cayman and Boxster, as a kind of "budget" spaceships, It may not be so advanced (some of the technology is there like VTG on the S) but a 4 cyl 2wd car doing 0-60 in three and a half seconds is mighty impressive for me. and it costs less than half as much.
Porsche Goat of sports cars! I love vehicles foreign and domestic but it's so amazing how the Germans created the iconic 911 and 918 super car, last but not least that beast sedan the Panamera.
Can we pair him up with Chris Harris and call it a day? Better yet, call it Top Gear ? Even better yet, put these two on Fifth Gear. I geek out like both of them for different reasons. Videos for days and going over numbers and specs for hours, then go out and drive like and giddy, unhinged kid, giggling like I'm on on a rollercoaster.
Ufff! Very hard to come up with the car that is technological superior or even close to this! I love the new Panamera, but that is Porsche also. So let's say this is the pinnacle at the moment!
i love your videos. you're verbose as fuck, but somehow still entertaining because you have actual knowledge and you couple it with interesting perspectives and humor.. a rare trifecta (quadrifecta?) anyway, very good work man.
+MotoManTV You have asked a question that noone in the comments is able to answer intelligently (without biased opinion). The answer is there is no car company aside from porsche and koenigsegg that is pushing the envelope. Too many confuse high horsepower and lap times with tech advancement. Koenigsegg with the Regera has redefined the automatic transmission (DIRECT DRIVE TRANSMISSION). I think have answered your question without sounding like a die hard porschephile (although I think they are by far unmatched when it comes to engineering and innovating).
The only technologically superior car then this is the Porsche 959. Sequential turbochargers, tyre pressure control, fully adjustable suspension with automatic ride height control, AWD, magnesium hollow spoked wheels, floor made of nomex, 200 mph top speed. All that, 31 years ago.
Might sound generic, but a car that comes to mind is the GTR. There really isn't a car out now that can put the power down like that car can. Even Mercedes' AMG division were stumped by the GTR and how the car could put down the power so well, especially from a stop without busting the transmission.

These modern sports cars are too good A couple seconds on the throttle and you’re breaking the law, so composed and comfortable in corners that you’d have to drive at some scary speeds just to get to play with the grip limits, you’d have to visit a track to get that far, but these cars are so expensive that I’d never risk it One encounter with a wall or gravel trap and you’re likely to be spending tens of thousands in repairs I wonder if we’ll see sports cars taking a step back from these ever increasing numbers in favour of actual driving experience
The Bugatti's! of course Veryon or Chiron, to a make street legal 1000+ hp car that one can drive in any country. Pass all safety requirements government regulations. All while having a well over 200mph top speed, and a glorious 16 cylinder motor with 4 turbos!
Ok, I'll make you a deal. If you agree to pray for me and my next novel's success (or what ever you do) then you can review mine. I came on board with you last year with the Red 991 Turbo video and been watching ever since. Keep up the good work and don't piss of the lady in Chicago (your IG post) she looks like she can beat us both up.
Ferrari is so far ahead of everyone else when it comes to technological advancements that it's not even funny!!! I think I would still rather have the Turbo, but the 675LT comes to mind when I think of spaceship. Less than 3,000 pounds and more than 650 hp, carbon fiber everything and active wing, nearly fast enough to launch into space, and surely too fast for public roads. It would be nice to have on a high speed track like Monza, but you can extract more performance out of the Turbo in the real world.
Koenigsegg's direct drive transmission. There 3D printed turbo. Believe me 650hp sounds great but its not a tech marvel when the same formula is being used to get there. Porsche redefined turbocharging when they introduced vtg. Tech marvel pushes technology further which causes competitors to do the same.
While I admit Koenigsegg's tech is cutting edge, the question was what other car do you think is a tech marvel, not singular piece of equipment. Also, Regera uses electric motors=doesn't count.
He's legit the best reviewer on RUclips. You get so much great info!

AGREED.
what? Can the guy even drive? This was a totally f'n useless "review"!
it's the best car on the planet period!
Peter Sothern agree
if i had to have two cars it would be this and jaguar f-type svr
Mclaren fan the jag looks great and the svr engine is possibly the best sounding engine at the moment.
It's only overpriced if you can't afford it, PERIOD. To a multimillionaire, buying a supercar is no different to an average person buying a Toyota Prius.
Overpriced compared to what?? Where else can you get a car the goes 2.8 seconds to 60, and 200mph for under 180k? Not.
nothing better than a Porsche...
Benjamin Mathew actually, Koenigsegg rs
This dude is gonna shit his pants when he discoveres Ferrari 😂😂😂
Nothing.... Porsche is the ultimate!

Great consise review with a bit of humor. :) I have a Turbo 991.1 and it is indeed a fun car to drive. Highly recommended.

Best car ever. Good review. I like that u call it a space ship.

Bugatti Chiron, Acura NSX, Lexus LFA, Nissan GTR, AMG GTR, Ferrari TDF F12, Ford GT, Aston Vulcan are all impressive and technically advanced.
But none of them have the refinement as the 911.
The clear choice of a technological marvel is the almighty Smart Fortwo! I mean, look at it, and yet it doesn't fall over in the first bend! I know, impressive.
2014 TT, best car I ever owned! Nice touch with the Porsche belt buckle

where should we start....QAQ
Mercedes S65, for, well it's a merc with futuristic tech...
since when is black on black, bad? Or did I not catch the sarcasm.
Nissan Maxima, because it has cup holders ;)
Love the belt......btw!
The Bugatti's! of course Veryon or Chiron, to a make street legal 1000+ hp car that one can drive in any country. Pass all safety requirements government regulations. All while having a well over 200mph top speed, and a glorious 16 cylinder motor with 4 turbos!
Is that a Turbo or Turbo s
Do you think you can review a GT car? I'll let you review my RS I get it.
Would LOVE to . . . Porsche is very guarded with access to those . . .
It's Poochie's world, we just live in it . . . :)
Cool car for cool places
Crap! You haven't even drove this car yet, and my stomach is getting nauseous! I'm not even in that car! Wholly crap! What a ship!
I was actually directly thinking of the tesla but then you said it wasn´t allowed
The epic DAF TurboTwin. Big Fast and old.
How much?
I would argue that MotoMan only has one outfit
Ferrari is so far ahead of everyone else when it comes to technological advancements that it's not even funny!!! Literally everybody says it's mind blowing because there is so much tech happening behind the scenes that it should feel super disconnected and like the car is driving itself. However it's the polar opposite, it feels organic and alive!!! Truly working with you to let you make the car do whatever you want. They have always been the king, and for a while, others started to catch up. But now all things are right again in the world and Ferrari sits atop The throne of the super/hyper car world!!!
Not really. Ferrari can't be at top because they lack quality.
650 hp is not a tech marvel. There are hondas out there that meet the same spec.
Alright then, what's your idea of a tech marvel?
Koenigsegg's direct drive transmission. There 3D printed turbo. Believe me 650hp sounds great but its not a tech marvel when the same formula is being used to get there. Porsche redefined turbocharging when they introduced vtg. Tech marvel pushes technology further which causes competitors to do the same.
While I admit Koenigsegg's tech is cutting edge, the question was what other car do you think is a tech marvel, not singular piece of equipment. Also, Regera uses electric motors=doesn't count.
The Regera is a Tech marvel. Check out Shmee150's channel he has a vid with the Regera which breaks it down completely.
911 Turbo S: Es gibt mir ein stein-bein.
Simply Porsche!!!
wow that's an amazing fricken car
I love chocolate...... but white chocolate on the west coast of everyone else!
