Li Xin took over operations of a shelter from stray dogs in China's capital Beijing in 2009. It's always been an uphill battle to keep it running, with funding issues and orders from the government to relocate. But Li and her group of loyal volunteers are determined to continue to provide a home for abandoned dogs, despite a government decision that ruled the shelter to be an illegal structure and could be demolished at any time. i applaud the government for actually doing something about pollution but they are completely targeting the wrong people, these people are doing something honourable and i hope them and others get all the help they need and laws put in place to protect these animals
Yeah...they should do more detailed studies and work out specific exemptions based on certain criterias and conditions to lessen restrictions or apply quotas...not a blanket ban right...but then again knowing human, there tend to be crafty abusers/scammers who'd take advantage of it....especially in China....
It's just an excuse, the govt can auction off the land at a better price to developers.

@@CP-28 the only way to keep the regulation in place is to enforce it without any exemptions. Yes these people are doing honerable work to help these poor creatures. But saving the planet is just as important, not to mention that the city also provides centralized heating at a very cheap price. All they need is to install the required plumbing to access it.

In January 2021, a local animal rescue organization in our city brought in 46 dogs from Harbin, China. We were fortunate enough to be able to adopt one of them and change our dog's life forever. Curiously, the dog we adopted was a Bedlington Terrier, similar to the one mentioned in this video.

If the Chinese government has a problem with these poor dog shelters because of so-called environmental concerns.
First of all, they have to ban beat and boiled dog meat festivals !!!
They should ban big industry which is creating real pollution!

I just adopted a dog from a shelter in Japan because I felt bad and even tho it’s not in China still I have saved some dogs and I am happy about it
These people and especially the women are truly sacrificing to take care of these dog. The government is going after the wrong people. This whole sustainable, coal free goal is just not ready yet to be implemented.

The pain of losing a dog because of disease and old age must be heart wrenching for her. She is a strong and brave woman to endure all of this. Wake up call to all dog owners out there not to abandon their dogs when they become sickly or old.

Maybe can they open an account for crowdfunding (even share on RUclips) so contributors can chip in a little bit for these honest volunteers like I have seen from other animal shelters on youtube (e.g. India, Europe)? I salute these people who are volunteers. true animal lovers. These dogs are orphans because of irresponsible who got them as pets but could not take care of them. Everyone of them looks so cute.

This terrible situation seems to be common in China's animal shelters. I regularly donate to one called Harbin Slaughter House Survivers, and their situation is eerily similar.
Meanwhile in my city, there is a shortage of dogs in shelters so many are resorting to buying. So many dogs all over the world need homes. If only we could do more to connect these dogs to families.
Right people from around the world could actually adopt these dogs someone needs to make this a project , a reach out project between them and the true adopters

Had two amazing dogs in life so far, adopted/rescued all of them.
Please stop buying dogs people… there are so many that need a home because people dont think things through and its the dog that suffers in the end.
Adopt or rescue if you have a heart and truly love dogs and not look at them as an accessory
