- After 27 hours in labor, we welcomed our newborn baby boy into the world. Following his birth, we prepared to leave the hospital and went to a postnatal retreat to receive guidance and support from professionals. During our stay, our baby had his first photo shoot. After four nights at the clinic, we finally returned home and introduced our baby to our beloved dog.

You know......some celebrity people share their new babies and some you never get to see them......But there are no words to express the emotion that is felt watching what you have shared. I just have sat here with a huge grin and tears in my eyes and you did such a wonderful job editing your video and though the information was cut down you left nothing out and explained to all of us what has been going on since we have just been waiting to know. What an amazing job of providing us the beautiful information. You are amazing for doing this for all of us who care so much and appreciate what you have done. Just look at your son and think one week ago he was in your belly and never could you have imagined how beautiful he was and how deep the love goes for your child. You can try but until he/she is out you can't feel the deepness of how deep the love goes immediately. He not only is a gift to you both but to us who have been waiting. I think the post natal retreat is the best thing ever to exist for brand new parents like yourselves. I'm so happy that it existed and you took advantage of it. It must be a fairly new phenomenon... I never heard of it 12 years ago when I worked as a Mother Baby Nurse helping in delivering & caring for the baby & mother throughout their pregnancy, delivery, and immediate postpartum care. My husband and I decided not to have children 32 years ago and don’t regret it, but this experience must have been on another level for both of you.
We’ve fostered dozens of children over the years, trying to give them a solid footing on life. Some came to us weeks after they were born. Imagine the trauma of birth, compounded with the separation from everyone and everything that brings that baby comfort. Love is what it’s all about. Henrique is a very lucky boy to have such wonderful, loving parents.
May every step you take together from this point onwards be filled with joy, moments of awe and wonderment.

I think that is great that you both have a place to rest after a traumatic birth. When I gave birth many years ago, I spent 7 days in the hospital to get practice feeding. I got some rest, but not much because I needed treatment for physical pain caused by the births.The new arrival certainly changes everything, but is worth it all! GOD Bless1

Junio, Ana, Henrique & Julia~You are a beautiful family! There are no words that can really express all the relief, joy, wonder and love that comes with the birth of a child and integration as a family. The tears Ana cried saying they were about relief will come again, if not already, just because of the pure joy of looking at baby Henrique or seeing a special moment of bonding between you Junio and Henrique or because of just having the privilege of feeding and even changing Henrique's diaper (yes, seriously!🤣) Those tears speak of immense love. And Junio it was so touching to hear and see your emotions of joy and love as well as you held and spoke to your son. Also, introducing Julia to Henrique with the snuggle wrap was a very thoughtful gesture that would deescalate any potential anxiety she could have felt with the entry of a newborn/new member of the family. There were so many cues in both the delivery and coming home videos as to the type of thoughtful, loving, merciful parents you already are and all because you were that way with each other before little Henrique even entered the world. He is, as any child should be, safe and loved. Again, congratulations and much happiness to you all.

Before the 1940s, the average hospital stay was around 10 to 14 days for vaginal deliveries. What a Blessing to have this post partum retreat!! Lactation consultants are also a newer thing, so I am happy for you that you had help nursing. And as many have said here, a hands-on dad makes all the difference. You are truly blessed by God! Congratulations and thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Congratulations for that beautiful boy!! Advice from a great grandma to you: do not be quiet around Henrique when he is sleeping. If you are quiet he will wake up at anytime with noise. Use your normal voices, let the dog bark, if you vacuum do it while he is sleeping. You want to get some sleep, listen to what I am saying. Do what you did before as if baby was not there!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Another video I sat through crying my eyes out, mostly Happy Tears, but also a little Sad Tears for Ana and what she had to go through to deliver little Henrique, it brought back memories of my own first borns delivery and seeing her walking so carefully But, also So Grateful that she’s doing well and so is Henrique, Oh, what a journey it’s been for you all, But a journey well worth taking and waiting for, he’s absolutely adorable, big sister Julie will take a little bit to get used to him being in your home with his little cries and noises he will make, she will end up being his protector whenever he makes a sound, I loved to see how you included Julie in the whole process of bringing Henrique home, she got to smell his swaddle and hat, that was beautiful to watch, Thank you from the bottom of my Heart for sharing something so personal with us, we Love You Guys So Much and now look forward to seeing what’s ahead now that you’re a Family of Four. I didnt even know there are post partum retreats. Thats wonderful. Helps mom get her rest and back on her feet. That would be really helpful for people at high risk of post partum depression too.
I just watched a video short of a lady who is a newborn nanny at night. I thought that was a great idea too - I can see so many ways that would help a mom & if she is struggling w depression & exhaustion it would add a safety feature for mom & baby. Especially if her/his mom wasnt able to come help them for a few weeks.
Yes, I'm thinking the retreat she went on is more new. But then again I'm wondering if it was offered to her because of how hard the labor was. I do know that other countries (other than the USA), already do this type of thing.

Beautiful precious baby! Treasure every moment with your prince, they grow up so fast and time flies by. Before you know it you will be attending his high school graduation. 😮I was thirty eight years old when they induced my labor and it was horrible. The pain was unbearable. Today the beautiful son I begged God for is thirty four years old. He also lives in New York City where he was born. I miss my baby Jonathan so much, as I am living in the Caribbean. I wish I had a place to go to for a month after giving birth.
I was sent home on my is own.
No helpers at all. My kids Dad was absolutely NO HELP. He didn't even take any time off work to help me. But you know what? I did it, and I did it well!! It would have been nice to have some help, but it wasn't there for me, so I am thankful I didn't have any post pardom blues. God gave me what I needed for all 3 of my kids births.

I sympathize with you whole heartedly because I didn't have help either. I had C-sections with my kids and postpartum depression. Their Dad was a great help when he could, but he worked night shift at the time and a lot of hours. So yeah, all the mom's out there doing it alone, I salute you!

Diane I could write the same story of what happened when you gave birth with no husband support. One birth my husband wasn't even there. It was hard when home caring for baby all by myself. But with God's help we made it. I divorced him after the 3rd child. New and better life.
Sign language! No need to limit communication to crying. My daughter-in-law and son taught my grandson sign language and he was communicating at only a few months old. We would sit him in his high chair so he could watch “signing Time” and we watched it with him so we could learn also. I could have entire conversations with him at only 8 mos. And no we are not a deaf family we just did,this so we would know what he was needing or thinking and it worked wonders. He could tell us,when he was hungry when he was full when he was tired and also ask curious questions. He talked about the dog, people he would meet, his doctor visits. It was such a relief to know what he was thinking and needing. He loved the moon and he would sign that he wanted to see the moon. I would carry him outside at night and he was so happy. This eliminated frustration, guess work and opened up a,whole,new world. Today he is 11 multilingual and a very happy and curios boy.
Wow that’s awesome!! A lot of daycares in my area teach sign language in the infant rooms. I worked in a nursery in a daycare and it’s extremely helpful! And there’s nothing cuter than a baby using sign language lol

Yes, sign language is wonderful! Even little words like “more” or “all done” at mealtime are so empowering. And music is a language all its own. My son has autism and was non verbal for a long time. The first conversation I had with him as a baby was a song- I forgot his favorite music toy on vacation, so I started to hum the tune and he joined in!

Thanks for sharing this piece of your journey of becoming parents to your beautiful baby boy. It made me remember my own difficult birthing process of a baby with a cord wrapped around his neck and other complications. Like you, it worked out just fine but lots of emotion and trauma for all at the time. I think it helps us appreciate the whole wonderful process of giving birth just a bit more. Such a wonderful gift and blessing from God. God bless in these days ahead. Enjoy every minute, they seem long at the time but go by so quickly.

It was wonderful Junio when you opened your door, there was Julia, waiting for you. It was a great idea to bring a blanket and clothing of Henrique so Julia, can can pick up her brothers scent. Introducing Julia to her baby brother was so sweet. I know, Julia will be protective of her little brother. 💖🐾

Beautiful video. I was amazed at the postnatal retreat center experience. My husband went back to work the night my first baby was born (he worked the graveyard shift.) The next 6 days he also had to work. I only wish something like this had been available then (50 years ago, haha). It would have made such a difference. I had no family to help or any kind of hands on help, period. You are so blessed to have the support of this retreat center and also your husband. My experience was so different. Thank God places like where you are exist. Blessed, for certain. Thank you for sharing your beautiful journey together.

I love this new post-natal spa! I have 2 children, 29 and 17 (both were C-section's), and though this wasn't around back then, and am so grateful that I had both my mother and mother in law that were there for me after I left the hospital. The exhaustion you feel after giving birth is overwhelming, and having help during this emotional time is priceless! May God Bless you Ana and Junio for sharing this beautiful journey with us.

That is so true, good advice. Don't forget when your breastfeeding your baby it's great relaxing and putting your feet up, which gives you a bit of a rest aiding your recovery, because otherwise you would be just pottering about your house doing the housework. 😀
@carolecochrane8173 so true.. feeding the baby side lying is the besssst... you need to get a hang of it.. once you do its so relaxing for both mom and baby.. I always preferred sidelying breastfeeding... all through out the day... it's the only way mom gets the much needed rest and sleep in those crazy newborn days

This was such a treat to watch you leave the hospital with Henrique and go to the retreat facility.
