Here's a template I've analysed based on my study of Maltese and it's etymology (pls correct me if I list it wrongly): ap = derived active participle form * = hypothetical based on Arabic grammar C = consonant for root V = vowels, mostly copy vowel set of 3rd perfect form of the verb Vowel presets: ie, ā, i, e Consonant presets: m, j, w, t, s Form I: CieCeC, CāCeC Form II: CaCCieC, CaCCāC; *mCVCCVC (for roots staring with J or W) *mWeCCi-C, *mWaCCiC; mJeCCiC, *mJaCCiC Form III: *mVieViC, *mVāViC; (if 2nd root letter is J or W) CVjjVC; CVwwVC Form IV: 💀 jk, pseudo-form IV (treated as form II): CVCCVj Form V: *mtCVCCVC Form VI: *mitVieViC, *mitVāViC Form VII: *minVieViC, *minVāViC Form VII/V hybrid: *minVtieViC, *minVtāViC Form VIII: *miVtViC, *miVtViC Form IX: *miCieC, *miCāC Form X: *mistaCCiC Form X/II hybrid: mistCVCCiC For examples, I will derive everything from the root għ-m-l including hypothetical forms with their rough gloss/meaning, as a nod to the Arabic f-għ-l model of examples Form I: *għiemel, *għāmel (doer) Form II: *għammiel or *mgħammil (something or someone that compels to do or to make something) Form III: *mgħiemil, *mgħāmil (someone or something that treats or deal with something) Form IV: N/A Form V: *tgħammiel or *mtgħammil (something or someone that strives or toils with something) Form VI: *mitgħiemil, *mitgħāmil (something or someone that treats eachother) Form VII: *mingħiemil, *mingħāmil (processor towards making something done) Form VIII: *migħtiemil, *migħtāmil (something or someone that do the work oneself) Form IX: Impossible to derive, this exception I will use q-s-r -> *miqsar (something or someone who became shortened, shortened one) Form X: *mistagħmil (user, asker of work) Grazzi if you really read this. (This is what happens when your hobby is reading too much into Semitic grammar 💀)
Edit: Just realised this is from an older version I made, the ending vowel in Maltese shouldn't be -i- (mCaCCiC), rather should be -e- (mCaCCeC) as evidenced in mgħallem, although the passive participle for most words are also formed like this, this is one of those rare particles that retains the Arabic mCaCCiC active participle form
Isn't the "short forms" of verbs u have there just the active participles in Arabic? I do also notice that its rarely used anymore and for my own purposes I've formed my own hypothetical active participles for fun in translating a literal as possible Quran bil-Malti 😂

ap = derived active participle form
* = hypothetical based on Arabic grammar
C = consonant for root
V = vowels, mostly copy vowel set of 3rd perfect form of the verb
Vowel presets: ie, ā, i, e
Consonant presets: m, j, w, t, s
Form I: CieCeC, CāCeC
Form II: CaCCieC, CaCCāC; *mCVCCVC (for roots staring with J or W) *mWeCCi-C, *mWaCCiC; mJeCCiC, *mJaCCiC
Form III: *mVieViC, *mVāViC; (if 2nd root letter is J or W) CVjjVC; CVwwVC
Form IV: 💀 jk, pseudo-form IV (treated as form II): CVCCVj
Form V: *mtCVCCVC
Form VI: *mitVieViC, *mitVāViC
Form VII: *minVieViC, *minVāViC
Form VII/V hybrid: *minVtieViC, *minVtāViC
Form VIII: *miVtViC, *miVtViC
Form IX: *miCieC, *miCāC
Form X: *mistaCCiC
Form X/II hybrid: mistCVCCiC
For examples, I will derive everything from the root għ-m-l including hypothetical forms with their rough gloss/meaning, as a nod to the Arabic f-għ-l model of examples
Form I: *għiemel, *għāmel (doer)
Form II: *għammiel or *mgħammil (something or someone that compels to do or to make something)
Form III: *mgħiemil, *mgħāmil (someone or something that treats or deal with something)
Form IV: N/A
Form V: *tgħammiel or *mtgħammil (something or someone that strives or toils with something)
Form VI: *mitgħiemil, *mitgħāmil (something or someone that treats eachother)
Form VII: *mingħiemil, *mingħāmil (processor towards making something done)
Form VIII: *migħtiemil, *migħtāmil (something or someone that do the work oneself)
Form IX: Impossible to derive, this exception I will use q-s-r -> *miqsar (something or someone who became shortened, shortened one)
Form X: *mistagħmil (user, asker of work)

Tiela' in its Arabic should be طَالِع and nieżel is نَارِل
