    How long do you let it cure before can put it in the dyebath? (if after 2 years since you posted video, you happen to see this) Thank you

    Do you use the same soy milk solution for each dip or do you ever use a fresh batch of watered down soy? Do you refrigerate it to keep it from going bad?

      If you can keep it cool somewhere, it may last for all dips. But as soon as it curdles, it is no longer good to use and you had better make a new batch.

    You mentioned earlier that letting is cure for up to 6 months makes the natural dye work best, but I'm wondering if the soy sitting in the fabric doesn't get moldy during that time??

    Hi,
    Thank you so much for this great video, it's so clear and helpful!
    I have a question: I made my own soy milk, soaked my fabrics all night, did 2 dips & dry and then I noticed that the fabrics weren't getting "stiff" from the soy (which I believe they should, right?). That's when I realized that the mix was mainly water and a little bit of soy milk (I think I didn't blend enough soy beans for the amount of fabrics).
    So I made soy milk again, more this time. My question is: should I start all over again or can I just keep going (with the 3rd dip & dry) but using the new soy milk (stronger)?
    I don't know if it's clear... I hope you understand and can help me out on this one 😉
    Thank you!

    Very informative video! Thank you for this. In terms of color fastness, is mordanting better for soya binding?

      Mordanting will create more stable colors but soy milk isn’t too far behind.

    Hello!!! Thank you for this wonderful information!!! Can I dry the soymilk treated fabric in the direct sunlight?

    How long does it take to cure?

    Another question: the only 2 types of pre-treatments available to me right now are soy milk and alun. Is it ok/good/recommended to do both, and if so, in which order?
    Thank you 🙂

      Thank you Rashi! It depends on what type of dying you’ll be doing. For immersion dyeing, it’s best to let it cure for multiple months.

    I’m so new to this but my question is ….doesn’t the fabric smell after a while ? If so how do you prevent that from happening ? Tia. 🥰

    • @andrealouchene6916
      @andrealouchene6916 Год назад +1

      It only smells awful if the soy milk curdles in the bucket. The dried soy milk treated fabric has its own smell, but not bad.

    How long should you let it cure if you're planning on eco printing with it?

    • @thebarefootdyer
      @thebarefootdyer  2 года назад

      It’s best to allow it to cure for at least a month. 2-3 is better.
