Sue, that is so great to hear. The The water is been so clear. We were at the invisibles dive site and a spotted eagle ray came up to see what were up to.
Again a beautiful film Rich. Pity that the werk is on that depth but anyway a lot of beautifull this to see at Bonaire dive sides. And indeed Rich, people should stop messing with mother nature and leave it as is instead of just taking all away.
I used to dive the ghost ship of Bonaire aka the Windjammer backing the 90's. It's all fenced off now and you can't get to the ramp where we used to park and go in. I've been down to the crows nest 4 times at 212'!😮 Anyway, I'm currently in Bonaire now diving but much older and would never think about diving that deep anymore. Kudos to you for even mentioning the Windjammer!👊
Extremely beautiful.I hope no container port will be allowed. Such a gorgeous serene reef & wreck. Next can you please show us The windjammer. I have not been since 1999. 💙💙💙💙♥️♥️♥️♥️
Hi Michelle, the last time I dove the jammer was in 99 too. It was really amazing then and in fact I have a print of it in our living room that Dominique Serafini made. It looks just like when It did 99. I will be going back to the Windjammer to make a video but I am working back up to it. To film it I need to stay on the wreck longer which means more narcosis. This time I will have tech gear. So, I will need to make a few dives deeper before I can film it. It won’t be my next film but I will film it for sure.
@@ADiversLife I can't wait to see it. I did that dive with a photopro and my boyfriend who grew up on island. Julie the photopro just took still photos that day. She had filmed it on a prior dive with leo and malin (I was not there) and I had that on a VHS tape but it's been in storage so long I am sure it's shot. We only had 15 min bottom time, and then 45 min+ of deco stops on the way up. Tied an extra tank to the mast at 40 feet (w/ bifurcated valve and 2 regs on it) but none of us needed the extra air. Good to have it tho as one never knows how things will turn out at that depth. It's a beautiful dive and very cool ship. Like being in an old TV store with the TV's all around on the walls - when you're inside her hull looking around. Leo has some relics recovered from there over the years, going way back. just pieces of china etc. nothing valuable. Lucky you can go back. Does one need special permission from BOPEC to access? We just drove up and parked back in the day. Always easier to drop in from a boat of course!!! not do the trek out to where one descents.
Unfortunately, BOPEC is bankrupt and wont allow anyone in. If you want to dive it you, now, must have a tech certification and arrange for a dive trip through VIP Diving, Technical Diving Services, or Buddy Dive. You have to go by boat.
Rich, Thanks a bunch for sharing your videos! My wife, Crystal, and I love Bonaire. We will be coming for our third time this September 15th. We will be staying for 2 months this time which is something I hope we get to do many more times in the future. We snorkle twice a day on average and I enjoy a few dives each week (Crystal doesn't dive). We are very much looking forward to trying many of the sites you have covered which we haven't yet gotton to. Again, thanks for sharing! Bob
Bob, Thank you so much! You made our day. I am glad you are staying 2 months. To really appreciate the island you have to stay for longer periods and to experience what few get to see. Safe travels to you and your family Bob and thank you for watching our videos!
Man, the colors at night were amazing. I loved seeing it for real. I read about it in Reef Windows. It was fun to see down Kaya Rotterdam. I remember snorkeling there at our friends house. It is nice because there is limited access. It lets the reef thrive not having a lot of pressure put in it. So, 15000 lumens... man that’s a ton of light. I do need to figure out how much light I need to improve my GoPro footage in daylight. Headed to Mexico in a few months to dive Majahual, Banco Chinchorro, and Xcalac.
Thank you Caleb. Yes and I had 2 15000 lumen lights. For big subjects it really makes a difference. That sounds like an amazing trip. After we visit family we will start thinking about dove trips. Saba is on the list for sure. As for the GoPro, shooting wide angle deep is an issue as your light only travels far. The bare minimum is 6000 lumens. GoPros are good to about 35 feet unless you have really clear water like in Cozumel where you can get to 45 feet with good lights.
I am going to Bonaire this Oct. ! I am excited! I only have 12 dives so I am fairly new. The last dive trip I took was in Cozumel. I am under the impression that Bonaire has very low currents which I like the idea of very much! Am I wrong to think this?
Hi D F, yes in general Bonaire’s west coast has little by way of currents. Also, if you drift past a spot there is usually an easy way out. Plan your exit strategy. South of Red Slave, the east coast, Playa Benge north and playa franz can have currents but these leave large stretches where you won’t have any. Bonaire dive guides have it in their and your best interest to not expose you to currents.
If you do go after 5 you need to go into the south entrance of Hamlet Oasis to get to the parking lot. Get there just after 5 and you will be able to ge in there There is a gate at the south entrance but it opens automatically. You are most welcome.
No container port! Trading reef for commerce rarely works out in favor of the country giving up their reef. Companies will use and abuse their partner countries for quick profit and then move on when the profit is gone.
