I was the oldest guy in the 888 snare line. I joined the corps when I was 11 and was an alternate on snare in the "64 line and played snare in the '66 and '67 lines. I was 15 when I left the corps and got a gig with a smokin' R&B band and I've been a profession drummer/percussionist my entire life. This was an incredible show we did and it was one of the highlights of my life. At 70 I'm still playing the Broadway shows and love hanging out with the Cavies. Splooie!

Wow, I'm blown away by this remarkable performance. These guys put their blood, sweat & tears in this show, you can just hear it!!! In the 70's I was in an all girl drum & bugle corp on the east coast and I truly miss it everyday..When you see & hear something like this, it never ever leaves your heart.. I have to stop now and find a tissue because the tears are flowing...

Cavaliers are one of my all time favorites Macy. Did you march with the Audobon Bon Bons? I marched in a Jersey corps, Sacred Heart Crusaders of Manville, we competed on the same field as you in Wildwood AL and VFW states.

@@tommcconville4270 No Tom, I didn't march with the Audobon's.. I was with the Seymour Vanguards in Connecticut, from 1972-1978. An all girl Bugle Corp until they went co-ed in 1976-1977. Some of the best times of my life.

@@Secretpartner Thanks for your reply Macy, I'm glad your drum corps years were memorable ones. I spent almost seven years in drum corps, and marched with the Sunrisers in 1973 my final season. An all time great drum corps with 6 DCA titles, and the American Legion Nat'l Championship in senior corps in 1968.

I played/marched in a Marine band during those years lol :) Hats off to people who were fortunate enough to march corps. Must've been a life-changing experience for many.

"I Vow to Thee My Country", an English song, beautifully done. These men reached back to a time when drum corps members and fans knew the name of every tune that was played; had moving color presentations, and pulled spectators out of their seats with max' general effect. We have to salute what they accomplished here. Brilliant!!! Well done!!!

Madelyn, it’s not clear in the video but during the flag presentation push in Battle Hymn, the whole corps is in a flying wedge with the American flag squad front and center. We are high marking time half stepping forward. The first time we performed it in rehearsal it gave me chills. I’m in the back of the formation and I get to take it all in and let me tell you, the crowd went nuts right in the middle of the tune.

They were b flat bugles. Just a bit different than "trumpets" etc. but you could say yes they were now that we are no longer in the key of g nor using just 2 valves. Some guys who marched here remember just a piston valve! It took a lot of practicing to get them on these horns and sounding great!

Very nice , but your 20 years to late, done by Japanese school kids with Sing Sing Sing and dancing while they actually play.

I see you listened to the narration. The two drummers up front performed this is 1957 and 1981. All the songs are past Cavalier pieces.
