i recommend to ask more about shifts (they will subconsciously think you are already hired😅) - ask about overnights on weekends for example or flexibility like several hours a day if you have to study - it shows you are ready to work hard if they need stuff dont ask about free meals/discounts - my interviewer didnt like this question 🤨 (but you gonna have free lunch + national employee discount 30% if you wanted to know) you not gonna have time to ask lots of questions. managers, who will interview you, won’t have much time - they are alwaaaays busy

I have worked management at places like taco bell before but the most stressful environment I have ever been in was Chipotle as the grill cook. Running a kitchen by yourself is a very difficult task especially during peek hours.
2 types of skills are required in every workplace. Hard Skills (Technical) Soft Skills (Diplomatic). If you cant handle adversity you're never going to make it in any workplace because adverse situations occur on both sides of the counter. You can be smart as Einstein when it comes to Hard Skills but if you cant smile when the metaphorical bullets start flying get a job working from home alone. Learn Soft Skills first and foremost then anyone will teach you the Hard Skills. Being polite and being able to eat sht and smile outweighs everything because Soft Skills are what you build on. Not the other way around.
this is such great advice. & a hard ass pill to swallow especially when you’re no longer new to the minimum wage job market and are absolutely fed up and have been jaded so many times by situations former co workers managers being a manager ect. but yes this is great and a much needed reminder. thanks
Yeah, the people making $12 an hour needs to have a talk with someone or file report. Your paystub says IL. Illinois minimum wage when this came out was $13 an hour.

I had an interview and I watched this video a day before the interview and the character traits that she gives in the video are all correct. I memorized most of them and my interviewer liked my responses. I got my starting date I just need to go through the application and orientation.

honestly i would choose cafe/restaurant with tips .. like starbucks because in mcdonald’s you can only have your salary and that’s it . if you wanna have some side money you should look for tips

I’m not the OP, but usually you’ll have your interview, then if you’re accepted they’ll let you know after a few days. After that, you will have your orientation and a few weeks of training (all paid work). Then they’ll expect you to work normally

im a 40 yr old guy and ive been a cab driver for 20 yrs, but i wanna quite its just too much stress and little money and no benefits, if i tried to get an job at mcdonads would i have to start right at the bottom cleaning? i would actually like to MAKE THE BURGERS, not serving at the front counter as i dont really smile much, and working the drive through looks tough as well, but working at the back making the burgers and putting them together is what id like best, could i do this?
At the end of the day, they will put you wherever they need you most. Usually, they do take your preference into consideration, but it generally all boils down to the needs of the company. "...its just too much stress and little money and no benefits." Realistically speaking, it'll be the same thing at McDonald's. "...would i have to start right at the bottom cleaning?" Cleaning isn't the bottom of the totem pole at McDonald's, since every position (including management) is required to do so. You'd likely be starting as a crew member (most stores don't hire managers externally) which IS the bottom of the totem pole. However, it is pretty easy to climb the ladder. "...but working at the back making the burgers and putting them together is what id like best, could i do this?" It is possible but it's also possible that you will have to start on counter and wait to be cross-trained in the grill area. You will never start in Drive-Thru without first learning counter.
@@petejames1326 they tend to put young kids and females on the registers, drive thu or managing. And guys of our age go to the kitchen. And If you say I want to work the kitchen...you'll get it. They actually do take your wants and needs into consideration. I know this is a year after you posted this, but mcdonalds is easy man. Too easy. For me anyway. 15 an hour to work in a sandwich making assembly line. All the stress is in the front with the customers . Hope this does help.

hello! i am from Ukraine so my English is not perfect as if i were native speaker BUT only 50% of my co-workers knows English - most of them speak Spanish better and it isn’t a problem you don’t usually speak that much , only regular phrases such as “using mcdonald’s app? what would you like to order?” and clarifying client’s needs after week of working you will hate these words ahahah - there’s gonna be nothing new so nobody could guess that your english is bad! + you will always be heard by another crew members so they gonna listen and help if something is wrong don’t forget that there are lots of accents and even native speakers sometimes don’t understand English everything will be good!!!

You might not respond but its worth asking. Did you start your first day of work on the same day that your interview was held? or was it a different day?
I’m not the OP, but usually you’ll have your interview, then if you’re accepted they’ll let you know after a few days. After that, you will have your orientation and a few weeks of training (all paid work). Then they’ll expect you to work normally

im a 40 yr old guy and ive been a cab driver for 20 yrs, but i wanna quite its just too much stress and little money and no benefits, if i tried to get an job at mcdonads would i have to start right at the bottom cleaning? i would actually like to MAKE THE BURGERS, not serving at the front counter as i dont really smile much, and working the drive through looks tough as well, but working at the back making the burgers and putting them together is what id like best, could i do this?
they would most likely train you as a cook starting off
At the end of the day, they will put you wherever they need you most. Usually, they do take your preference into consideration, but it generally all boils down to the needs of the company.

Realistically speaking, it'll be the same thing at McDonald's.

Cleaning isn't the bottom of the totem pole at McDonald's, since every position (including management) is required to do so. You'd likely be starting as a crew member (most stores don't hire managers externally) which IS the bottom of the totem pole. However, it is pretty easy to climb the ladder.

It is possible but it's also possible that you will have to start on counter and wait to be cross-trained in the grill area. You will never start in Drive-Thru without first learning counter.
@@petejames1326 they tend to put young kids and females on the registers, drive thu or managing. And guys of our age go to the kitchen. And If you say I want to work the kitchen...you'll get it. They actually do take your wants and needs into consideration. I know this is a year after you posted this, but mcdonalds is easy man. Too easy. For me anyway. 15 an hour to work in a sandwich making assembly line. All the stress is in the front with the customers . Hope this does help.

BUT only 50% of my co-workers knows English - most of them speak Spanish better and it isn’t a problem
you don’t usually speak that much , only regular phrases such as “using mcdonald’s app? what would you like to order?” and clarifying client’s needs
after week of working you will hate these words ahahah - there’s gonna be nothing new so nobody could guess that your english is bad!
+ you will always be heard by another crew members so they gonna listen and help if something is wrong
don’t forget that there are lots of accents and even native speakers sometimes don’t understand English
everything will be good!!!
