- 2022 EP24: In this EPF video, I conduct a species assessment at the Candlewood Lake in Fairfield County, CT.
[May 23rd, 2022 (Fishing Sessions Number 53)]
Read more about it below:
Did you know that...?
📋...This was my second time ever fishing Candlewood Lake in CT. Prior to this fishing session, the only two species of fish that I ever caught from there were the Black Crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus) and the Bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus).
📋...My up-to-date Personal Best Black Crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus) is from Candlewood Lake. The beast measured 2.97lbs on the digital scale. You can watch that video here: • 3LBS BLACK CRAPPIE?! T...
📋...This video marks the beginning of the Species Assessment video series on the EPF RUclips Channel, where I go to different places around the Country to find out "what swims down there."

Nice day of multi species fishing right there!
That is for sure a quality body of water....
Cool to see you in my town lol
Great multispecies vid! Some quality fish also (except the bass lol)
Fished a tournament as a co-angler at Candlewood years ago. Lots of big largies and smallies. Placed second and got the payout for big bass (4# smallie).
duuuuuuude huge fan long time sub. I live in CT you should check out the CT River everything swims in there.
I was there for 2 weeks last summer went fishing daily
Would love to see you fish down at lower falls/Seth Green Island on the Genesee River in Rochester NY. You can catch so many different things from trout to lampreys to carp to quillbacks and everything in between.
Ah .. good old Danbury ct.. my old stomping grounds..
Nice yellow perch right off
We need you to come to Michigan and do some fishing…..

Wawasee, Syracuse or Webster lake in Indiana all those lakes are with in 20 minutes of each other
What fishing line do you for rods...
getting caught up on my Leo doses
Did you find any grass growing?
Next time your in ct. We can go carp fishing on the river
Leo why do you prefer spinning gear for fishing docks than bait casters?
Greenwood Lake, NJ/NY
Killed the multi species Leo!
Smith River in SW VA. Plenty of trout, native browns and what else??? Only EPF can find out!
Yeah I hear that lake has some massive largemouth and smallmouth. I think some walleye too
Why you don't fish the lake's in Pennsylvania
Candlewood is one of the best lakes I used to live in a town that borders it. If you don’t live in a lake community or have a boat the bank fishing access is very limited and the few places that do have access are highly pressured
Two years ago a woman pulled a pike out of Candlewood that was 46 inches, 29 pounds. It's a beautiful lake but bass fishing can be a grind; too much pressure.
Hello
Go get you a lake trout or a sturgeon from lake superior.
I miss the best intro on RUclips...😕
Can you eat those fish? Or maybe not? Bummer.
you should go back again and chum for carp with ultralight and then also fish with live bait - big live bait - you will catch many less fish but take a better survey of the bigger fish
