@@sifelaver if you already have the Z9, for sure it doesn’t worth the update. But someone coming from older DSLRs could be interesting. A bit less expensive in a smaller form factor.

I have used Nikon cameras for almost 20 years now. I wish Nikon to succeed with this camera. it is important to have competition and subjectively I just love their products.
I get mine on Thursday. A class leading camera that will be in my camera bag until it has a successor. Phenomenal job Nikon! Thank you for paying attention to such important details like ergonomics, its perfect size, and not chasing megapixels. A true camera company!
You are not allowed to use aftermarket accessories not made by nikon . You are also no longer allowed to sell your camera on ebay if nikon doesn't approve the sale. They restrict second hand sales to meet certain criteria and give no warning. Basically you don't own the camera you just bought. Nikon still owns it. You just paid a lot of money to rent it.

I am particularly excited with the Nikon come back… Z9 compressed into a smaller affordable body is great… But it is equally exciting to watch Nikon finally catch up on the marketing front… counter for launch date, product already distributed to influencers in the community, simultaneous release of influencer videos globally with the product release… If Nikon keeps this up, they will grab significant market share from Canon and Sony… and with a Zf from Fuji

Thinking of upgrading to the Z8 from a D500...I have a couple of dx lenes that I love and I wonder what issues I would have with the Z8 adapted with those lenses
Great video! I have a serious issue with the HDMI out of the Z8. When I'm using a monitor connected to HDMI, and I press record and then press again to stop recording, the monitor loses signal for about a second and a half after stopping recording. This is even worse when attaching a Wireless video transmitter like Accsoon Cineview HE. Every time I stop recording, it loses signal for about 6 seconds. Is there a workaround for this? This makes using the Z8 on a professional film set not possible. It would create major frustration for the crew to wait for the monitor image to return every time one presses record. Professional sets are 100% wireless. Did you encounter this issue? If yes, please contact Nikon and let them know the urgency to get this fixed. Help!

Do the current versions of cards available need to step up their game to address the reported issue of overheating OR is it going to be addressed via the forthcoming versions/updates of the firmware? At least the wait is over of Z8!

You need to allow third party Len’s manufacturers to make lenses for Nikon. No having more affordable alternatives made me move to Sony and although I like the Z8 I can’t buy into the system since I’m heavily invested into Sony’s system. ✌️

What's the weight with the battery and card? It's not defined on the website.
While I am compelled to buy the Z9 and Z8 owning the F2 through 850, I will not kid myself about "high resolution" I was a lab owner and accused of being an "emulsion tester." I have seen the pinnacle of resolution. Nothing digital as yet comes close. 48mp is low res.

I own a lot of NIKON DSLR cameras but I refuse to buy another mirrorless NIKON until they get their AF on par with Canon and Sony. I bought the Z6II and I truly regret it.
Same story. A z6ii and sometimes at fast moving low light subjects I curse a lot 😢

What in the world happened to the audio in the last 10 minutes of the Introducing the new Nikon Z 8: The Ultimate Hybrid Camera. specifically the entire segment with Nikon Ambassador Jerry Ghionis? The audio is so muddy that much of it is totally unintelligible! I'm sure Nikon doesn't wish to present anything but the absolute highest quality images and video for this introduction, but this sure isn't there. I've already decided I will purchase a Z8 as soon as I can get my hands on one.
We need a new real OVF F mount D850 successor, people want a choice an EVF isn't for everyone
much less a 3.69mp EVF from 2018

@@nikonusa I would like to make this Z8 the main camera on my channel and do general how-to videos like I did in the past with the D750/D850 promoting Nikon gear. I have an interest in extreme macro for both prints as for how-to videos. Extreme macro works stacking two lenses. Will this work on a Z8 with auto stacking and maybe using the macro lens and a second 50mm lens? We need more than a 1/1 ratio. I can’t find information on that use case either.
For my other channel we are going to produce time-lapse videos. We are going to use the Nikon Z8’s for that (8K). Because we do a very high shutter count, I was wondering how far we can push the Z8. I know it has an electronic shutter but unsure if I’m missing something. Nikon Z8 is out of stock in my country, Nikon NL has a waiting list for new stock. Can’t even get a T-shirt of the Z8.
I hope Nikon brings the auto capture you have in the Z9 to the Z8, that would be really amazing.
Nikon had experienced a significant loss of customers to Sony & Canon quite some time ago, and now they face difficulties in winning them back. This outcome serves as a consequence for Nikon's approach of adopting a "wait and see" strategy. They waited too long to innovate or too long to invest into mirrorless technology. Unfortunately, their current pricing is comparable to that of Sony and Canon, making it an obvious choice for consumers to opt for either Sony or Canon due to the closely aligned pricing structures. Plus they already invested on either a Sony or Canon lenses and it would be very expensive to try a new body and invest again on new lenses. If you lower your prices you might just win your customers back.
Nikon also restricts the 2nd hand sale of cameras.. so you can't sell your own camera.. and you can't use aftermarket accessories unless made by Nikon. Predatory.
Audio editor messed the sound up at the end with Jerry Ghionis. His voice level is quite considerably lower than the level of background music which is supposed to be...background.

I was really hoping for the built-in GPS, the SnapBridge on my Z7 II is useless for GPS geotagging. Will it work with the old Nikon GP-1 GPS unit?
Yeah, I agree but the battery life is already pretty low and the gps would probably make it work. They had to make compromises to get the z9 in a smaller body.
@@Moriningland Perhaps, but I wouldn't mind carrying additional batteries or connecting a power bank, just to have the option of geotagging my travel photos. I loved this feature with the external GPS unit on my D850, so I need to know if it will work with the Z8.

This is nice. But in 18 months since the launch of the Z9, the Z8 is basically the same except a different form factor. As Matt Granger comments in his review: should there have been more progress in 18 months? Particularly spec-wise.
Same spec for £1300 less seems like progress to me!
This is what happened with the D850. Took the guts of the D5 and out into a much lighter/more compact body and made it $3000 more cheaper.
They took the Z9 and put it into a smaller/more compact body for $1500 less. That’s a W in my book. The specs are incredible.
@@TLDAcademy except D5 and d850 are very different cameras catering to two different types of photographers. Z8 and Z9 are much more similar to each other.

No Z6III announcement, no major firmware updates for the Z6II, I feel Nikon has given up on the Z6II and Z7II. The Z8 is a awesome looking camera but still unaffordable for me.

If i want two gears one for still and one for video In sony i have two seprate choice one is alpha a1 and other is alpha 7 s iii so i can do both at a time for wildlife but in nikon their is no such a options 😔 and the main advantage in sony is their lens price and lens mount one commen mount that is E mount these are the points that force me to choose sony i want gears for wildlife cinematography and photography for making story telling documentary

what Nikon was doing all this 1.5 year ? Z9 was introduced in October 28, 2021. Right now in 10. may 2023. introduced the same technology, same sensor, same processor, a little tweaks in software with the same hardware, but in smaller body. Hey Nikon what are you doing ???

Why not a fully articulating screen, I have a Z9 and its articulating screen is .... just cumbersome. Why not use an industry standard.
I'm not buying your camera because you have restricted the use of aftermarket accessories and even restrict people from selling their cameras and lenses on the second hand market. If I purchase a product I want to actually own it. You seem to believe that you still own a customer's camera even after they paid a considerable amount of money for it. You are incorrect and have lost a sale. Many more people will be ditching your brand after these facts are brought to light. Shame on you.

Ah yes, as soon as you mention Jared, you'll get the 'but he's paid, but he doesn't know what he's doing, but this, but that. Jared actually shows footage of the EVF of all 3 cameras tested & you can clearly see the Nikon losing the subject. And there are more people than just Jared who has mentioned Nikon AF not being on par with Canon & Sony, but the fanboys will always defend Nikon. That's why Nikon doesn't care about sorting this out. Why should they, when the have fanboys & ambassadors defending & deflecting
Nikonians let me bring you down, you won’t be able to buy this camera for at least a year, Nikon always do that, that’s why today I shoot Canon, and is the best decision I have ever made.
Shipping May 25. Nikon learned the lesson from the Z9 debacle and stockpiled for the pre-orders. Greys of Westminster hinted about this.

@@weezyg.5724 all camera manufacturers do the same. Not just Nikon. Sony did it too. But, the Z9 because of its sales success and prominent RUclipsrs for some reason targeting Nikon is getting more negative publicity. Either they are not getting the money truck or they are getting more eyeballs talking bad about Nikon or both. We’ll see how Nikon’s plan on getting the Z8 to customers work this time after the Z9 supply mess. Obvious targets of this camera are DSLR users particularly D850s. They’ve waited for so long to move to the Z system (or moved on to Sony or Canon). I’m sure Nikon will mitigate for them to wait even longer now that the D850 mirrorless successor is here.

You guys literally made the same camera twice! What for? If I paid for a Z9 I would be made. $4,000 for a camera and still no flip screen? I used to be a Nikon shooter in the DSLR days, but I since moved to Sony. Nikon, you are just not getting it.

Why waste resources creating a duplicate camera - that’s just missing the vertical grip? Nothing new, no innovation- just a Z9 that’s a bit lighter. You now have 2 cameras that do the same thing and go after the same consumer segment. I also had to wait 1 year and 8 months to buy a 400mm tc - I hope Nikon has figured out how to manufacture products more quickly.
