Tom Jobim died before Sinatra, in 1994. Tom doubting himself was even more bohemian than Sinatra. He and Vinicius de Moraes used to do shows with bar tables on stage. At the end of the presentation, they were both drunk. Tom and Vinicius were the greatest pair of composers in Brazil, you should react to a video of both, you will love it.

It was recorded live on the Frank Sinatra show. I have the dvd collection. He and Antonio Carlos Jobim are LEGENDS! It was live, if they screwed up, there was no edit. And Jobim smoked too lol, so I’m sure he didn’t mind the smoke
Frank - Jobim used to smoke thousands of cigarettes and tons of whisky and beer too! lol Jobim used to drink almost one bottle a day with his very fried , the poet , composer and diplomate in Rome, Vinicius de Moraes. The Girl from Ipanema exists, she was 18 in 1962 (the day that they saw her and the song was composed in only 5 minutes) and you can see her in youtube. STill a marvelous and pretty grandma and still a lovely girl. Vinicius and jobim were very drunk in "Velosos Bar"when they saw Helo Pinheiro - walking in direction to the beach. Rio was the most beautiful place in the universe in the 50s and 60s !

Frank do you know that Tom Jobim is the name of Rio de Janeiro international airport? He died at the age of 67 in 1994. . He went to New York to have a surgery of bladder tumor and a couple of days after the surgery he died. He had a previou heart disease . But the cause of death was not revealed I think, because the family didn’t want to
This song in fact was in the 60s the most played, but today Yesterday became the first and Girl from Ipanema is the second. Tom died in 1994, not so old, he was 67. I guess it was cancer. Frank and tom were still huge friends - 2 smokers and drunks, having fun until the last time of their lives.
