Most people crap on them because there are those people who buy 1000 bucks bmw and then complain it is like a 1000 bucks car, like if you don’t maintain it ofc it’ll be costly to fix all issues and new ones keep happening…
@@template5886 😆 that’s awesome man I’m glad to hear it man that’s what this channel is all about busting those n52 myths 😎 with supporting mods these cars can make decent power, and if you gap the piston rings correctly you can run 15psi+ and will easily make at least 500whp with a good tune and good heat management. Ppl think the block is weak because it’s magnesium it’s actually pretty strong and Theyr steel sleeved from factory. The weak point is piston ring lands if you don’t gap the rings and run anything over 14psi with no meth injection to cool cylinder temps.
Yea man ide say go for it 100% the n52 is a solid motor even without boost the valvetronic feature bmw uses in those engines is pretty sweet the ecu controls the valve lift Theyr the only company that does anything like that. Also for parts these n52 motors are getting pretty common in the local scrap yards so used parts are plentiful good luck man if you have any questions we have a Facebook page rum runners racing just look for the logo 👍
Pretty basic list I’ll make a video on it but here’s ur list 1)get the turbo and wastegate external or internal wastegate dosent matter as long as your turbo isint to small. 2)intercooler and piping kit 3) fueling bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors And a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. For this you need to run a return line from the regulator to the tank. And I had to run a transfer pump to get fuel moving constant into the main pump side. 4) turbo manifold to mount the turbo these are pricy I recommend making your own Exhaust 3” minimum is recommended 5) tuning I went and had a custom standalone made but that cost me 12 grand 😆 u can tune the stock dme or wait for the new popformance ecu to drop this year ide start with tuning stock dme or use mega squirt. After u do all that and run your exhaust u should be set. But the coolant expansion tank needs to be relocated to the intake side by extending the hoses and I tucked the window wiper resivour inside the wheel well so it didn’t melt. Heat wrap is your best buddy in the engine bay 😆. Anything ur fuzzy on let me know I’ll be making an in depth video on the next few days I’ll post for u all 👍.
Honestly I run a gt35 turbo off Amazon I paid like 300 bucks for it and the thing works great I have other videos on my channel of my buddys e39 we boosted he uses the same 300$ turbo and no issues so I would use that good money on the most important parts fueling. you need genuine Bosch injectors or another reputable brand dont cheap out get a aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and a good fuel pump I went aeromotive with this as well if fuel cuts out or injector gets clogged your motors gone. Most Chinese turbos now days are pretty decent most of my cost was having the standalone made I was 12k into that alone. The rest ide say u could boost the car using the stock dme or a piggyback for 5-6k if your going to upgrade the clutch disk. And go for the 240mm disk and pressure plate only found in the 330i or the 328 or 330xi. Fun fact all the cars use a 240mm flywheel only difference is size of the pressure plate and clutch disk.
The tuning is the big unknowns it can jump the cost thousands or could be a few hundred if u can get the stock dme tuned. That’s y I like the e46 the ms42 ecu is very tunable from factory. I’m not sure in the pricing of the standalone that we will be releasing but when that’s out it will be your best tuning option but for cost effective stock dme flash tune will be the way to go.
@@l3wn3ytun3z4 it dosent have a name yet it’s being developed by my tuner his company is called popformance this is his website www.popformance.com the ecu isint listed yet but he gets emails you could reach out and let him know if you want in on the first set he releases.
About 480 at one point we made a bit over 600wheel but we had to stunt it due to high intake air temps. Since then I’ve added a bigger intercooler and a headlight intake setup so she’s due to go back in the spring to so what it can really do with the new standalone
lol no the opposite I have 3 kids and I grew up poor so know how to do all my own wrenching my cars never go to auto shops just dynos 😆. As for disposable money I wish I just save money buying parts at scrap yards these cars are insanely common in scrap yards I swapped this car from auto to manual and swapped a low km motor in it for less them 900$. At a shop it’s 1800$ just to do an oil pan gasket. So if u do your own work the cost is only parts and if u get those cheap ur laughin. I spend way less then the average person pays in a weekly car payment and get more smiles per gallon 😜
@@rumrunnersracing I do all my own maintenance I am broke as well. Can’t even barley afford the parts to replace. I did shocks springs all suspension parts related, new plugs, new coils, new coolant hoses new ccv rebuilt disavalves after ccv failure by breaking them open and cleaning oil out. Repaired gaskets in oil filter housing cleaned check valves I know this engine like the back of my hand
@@sipmeister3611 hell yea man respect doing ur own wrenching 👊 you should check for any you pull scrap yards in your area there’s always a treasure trove of bmws u could get good parts off like ccv stuff coolant hoses random fittings saves a ton of money the radiator for a Honda is priced the same as a radiator from a bmw so things are cheap So in our cases you don’t get gouged on buying replacement parts. Like the vanos solenoids for these cars are a few hundred but Theyr 5$ each at my local scrap yard Theyr pretty much giving them away they are called misc sensors at the scrap yard 😆. I got a new Bosch alternator worth easy 900$ for 45$ even my local parts stores calling around best price I could get was 700$ for a rebuilt alternator not even new so it’s worth checking out. Also the ccv you replaced you will have to delete when you add boost and replace it with an oil catch can that would be vented to atmosphere.
@@rumrunnersracing hey man what would be the chances to get exhaust manifold from you guys and overall some help on the project, im looking to get reliable 400-450hp not more
@@gripslide my buddy actually wants to fabricate another manifold to improve it a bit and start to sell a few I can ask what he would want for one. I know I keep saying it to ppl but I am doing a full how to on all that’s needed to get boosted and where u can save money and where u can’t 😆
mannnnnnnn... I swear BMWs get so much hate for no reason cause this shit always so wonderful to look at. Newer ones especially.

i got my hopes back, had one guy saying his build cost 20k and all he got 350hp max. He said that n52 cant handle more.
